Racing Santander Striker..tchité

From the Sunday People

Everton are set to launch an £8m bid for Racing Santander striker Mohamed Tchite, 24. David Moyes has seen his attacking options decimated by injury recently and has been forced to play Tim Cahill as an emergency striker.

Meanwhile, Hull boss Phil Brown is ready to make an ambitious move for Sheffield United hit-man James Beattie.

Brown wants to sign the ex-Everton star, who is one of the Championship's most-feared marksmen to help keep the Tigers in the top flight.

The Hull chief thinks Beattie would bring the know-how his attack needs - and could make an offer in the region of £4million.

He's a Belgian-Burundian who spent three years at Liege and a season at Anderlecht, so we need our Belgian member's verdict on what he's like and, just as importantly, how to pronounce his name :unsure: .

Where are we going to get £8m from though?

He would....next season....if they were to get relegated.

Exactley. And if we are to go by quotes by Moyes from just a few days ago, he said that any rumours with a fee involved where untrue as we have no money.

Wiki Bio: Tchité started his footballing career with hometown's Prince Louis Bujumbura. In 2002, he left for Rwandan club Mukura Victory Sports FC, where he would be noticed by scouts from Belgian club Standard de Liège.

In 2003 he arrived in Liège, where he became a regular member of the first team, scoring 21 goals in 58 matches during his three years with the club. During a brief, 3-match loan to Juventus during the 2004-05 preseason tour of Asia, Tchité made one appearance, against FC Tokyo, before he returned to Standard. In 2005-06, Tchité scored 16 goals to help Standard finish as runners-up to R.S.C. Anderlecht. That tally put him second in the goalscoring list, behind only Tosin Dosunmu, who scored 18 for Germinal Beerschot.

On August 31, 2007, the last day of the summer transfer period, Racing de Santander announced the signing of Tchité in order to replace Valencia CF-bound Nikola Žigić. In the November 11 match against Deportivo de La Coruña, he scored the only goal in a 1-0 road win, repeating the feat on February 24, 2008, against UD Almería (home fixture). The striker netted four times in his first twenty league matches at Santander, finishing the season at 8.

On November 1, 2008, Tchité scored a hat-trick against Valencia CF at the Estadio Mestalla, in a 4-2 win that signified the Che side's first defeat in 2008-09.

Born in Burundi, Tchité was technically eligible to represent Burundi, Rwanda, Congo (his mother is Congolese) and Belgium. However, Tchité announced his wishes to play for Belgium once he obtained his citizenship, which was received on July 11, 2008. However, on September, FIFA ruled the player ineligible for the Red Devils, as he had previously represented Burundi in the under-20s, switching before his 21st birthday to Rwanda.

Apps/Goals:

Standard Liege - 58/21 (2003-2006)

RSC Anderlecht - 30/21 (2006-2007)

Racing Santander - 45/14 (2007-Present)

Tchité 's main quality is running really really fast :) .

he did play for the two best teams in belgium and was good enough there to earn himself a transfer to a better league.

he was supposed to be playing for the belgian national team, but there's still some uncertainty wether or not he can because he used to play for burundi or rwanda or congo (some former belgian colony) after the age of 21 .. (i don't know the exact rule) ... point being he would make the belgian team, probably as a starter.

pronunciation of his name : the first "t" is silent, so in fact it is "chité" which is pronounced "shit-eeee".

Would you compare him to the likes of AJ then? Before the knee problems though...

too new to everton to know who AJ is, sorry.

but there's more to tchité than just running of course, only weakness to me is his heading.

Fair enough. He left in the summer. Went to Fulham. Was small and his main attribute was his speed, spent most games running down the flanks. However he had a knee injury and never really recovered his pace completly.
