Romey 1878
As long as you get Pietersen out early then you'll steam roll us again. We have nothing beyond him it seems.
rubecula
Philistines... It is Not England versus Australia for the ashes. It is England and WALES versus Australia. Oh well the media call the team England all the time. So do most other people too.
Romey 1878
Shouldn't you include Ireland too? Although, I don't think Morgan will be selected for the Test side.
MikeO
What about Scotland? Gavin Hamilton played in the 1999 world cup for Scotland, then played a test (in South Africa) for England the following year before playing for Scotland again (after a four year qualifying period). Loads more Jocks have played for England....though I can't think of any off the top of my head. I guess it's actually the GB cricket team....but as the English are the best and England are in charge we can call it what the hell we like you provincial serfs ! Anyway....on subject....we'll lose. Probably in humiliating fashion (I blame the Scots and Welsh for diluting the purity of the team ).

Romey 1878
First day now! Very exciting. Cook out already though. Oh dear. He doesn't do very well against the Aussies does he? His average is in the 20's I think.
Romey 1878
Strauss is gone now as well. We're not coping with the bouncers at all.
Romey 1878
Bopara out with a shit shot too. It's not looking too good for day 1 .
jamiemaher85
Starting to pick ourselves up again now which is good. 215-3. Just hope Pieterson can stay in for awhile. Him and Collingwood seem to have a good partnership going at the minute.
MikeO
Looking much better now....Pietersen and Collingwood both past 60 and going well at 216-3. We need to win this one really, Brett Lee out gives us a much better chance.
jamiemaher85
Collingwood out. Damn and blast. Looked a good parternship there.
jamiemaher85
KP out fairly soon after too. Now 251 for 5. If we can get to 300 before the end of play today it wouldnt be too bad. A total of 350 would be good for our first innings in first test
jamiemaher85
Prior and Flintoff really putting the runs in now. Up to 305-for 5. Prior and Flintoff putting 70 in together quite quick. Fl;intoff needs to have a good series to prove himself now.
MikeO
60+ partnership from Prior & Flintoff ! 306-5. Maybe we could even sneak 400? They're going along at a decent pace now as well....5ish an over. Good to see that.
jamiemaher85
Really impressed with Prior. Its good to have a strong middle order batsman, along with Freddie, impressed they have put so much on. I thought that we would really fall away after KP. Good work lads. Lets just hope we can bowl and field!
Romey 1878
Bit of a kick in the bollocks to lose Prior so late on.

They're going along at a decent pace now as well....5ish an over. Good to see that. Need to brush up on your maths, At the time you posted that was about the 83rd over, even at the 80th over at 5 an over the score would have been 400. Anyway that was a decent effort on the first day of a pitch that is going to offer great help to spin, and we chose two. However what the fook was Pietersen doing, getting out like that, clown. But...at the time I posted it Flintoff and Prior had just put on 68 from 77 balls....just under 5.3 an over . The point I was making ("They're going along at a decent pace now") was that those two were going at a good rate. Can see it was a bit ambiguous, but that was what I meant. jamiemaher85
I''d taken it as 5.5 at that time, but can see why there would be confusion. Its been an interesting day all told. Keeps swinging both ways. It will be really interesting to see how the aussies do when they go into bat.
eddie blue
by all accounts the pitch is going to get worse for the batsmen,so if we can get 375,this will be a realy good score, and cannot see us losing from this position, some realy good performances out there to-day,my prediction is we will have won by the end of the fourth day and will win the series 3-1 weather permitting

MikeO
423-9 and still going. Nice to have a bit of a sting in the tail for a change! Nice quick 50 from Monty and we've got 500+. No problem .

The Beard
Good wag of the tail. The way Hauritz got some turn I can see Swann and Monty on before long, possibly dozen or so overs in.

jamiemaher85
Indeed. This whole series could all be about great batting not reat bowling. Neither team have looked amazing while bowling, we look especially poor though. Its worrying that they have Lee to come back though.
