marcopaulo
baines got a 5 in the paper..said he was lucky not to be sent off and i kinda agree..unconvincing performance it said though which i feel is a bit harsh..he got forward a few times set up a chance for young and put in a couple of beltin crosses..couldn't really do more as england seemed to favour the right hand side
MikeO
baines got a 5 in the paper..said he was lucky not to be sent off and i kinda agree.. Goal.com... It is testament to Baines' excellence that Ashley Cole was barely missed. The Everton man got forward well and handled the threatening raids down his flank adroitly 7. The Mirror gave him a seven also....I should buy a different paper if I were you Marco .
marcopaulo
i wouldn't listen to the mirror either although that is more realistic i think...5 is just a joke and what lescott should've got..he got a 6 and i don't buy it..it's just what's available at work
Romey 1878
Jags had a stinker, at CB and when he was moved to RB. Baines was OK, nothing like how good he is for us. But I think that was more to do with how England played than him.
marcopaulo
not sure jags had a stinker..he handled gyan better than lescott did..granted that wasn't hard

MikeO
I thought Jags was all over the place and looked very dodgy tbh. Maybe because he was playing on the left of Cahill? Possibly reinforcing for Davey that he's doing the right thing always picking Distin...was really hoping Jags would have a stormer there to prove he could do it . And he's just not a right back is he....even though some reports reckoned he played better there than at CB last night.

I wouldn't play Jags on the left of our defence either if we were to ever play Jags and Heitinga together. Heitinga is two footed and could easily cope playing as the left-sided CB, IMO. marcopaulo
the one thing i wish is that baines would get played with a left winger just once at least for england..cos he is left all alone quite a lot as neither young, downing, milner, wilshere or barry were there and i couldn't really tell who was meant to be playing where
Romey 1878
He's managed quite well when Osman leaves him on his lonesome tbf. Edited March 30, 2011 by Romey 1878
marcopaulo
the way we play he had someone covering there though with the holding mid..england have an holding mid but they don't seem to cover like ours do..plus osman is more of a worker than ashley young
