According to Omroep Gelderland, he was there to scout 20-year-old midfielder Marco van Ginkel. He's made one appearance for the Dutch national team so far. There's no quotes from the player or an agent or anything, they sorta jump to the conclusion it's him we want. If he was at a Vitesse game, he might as well have been looking at striker Wilfried Bony who has currently made 27 goals in 25 Eredivisie appearances. Maybe Dutch media are just linking us to the midfielder given the fact we wanted one in Fer a couple of months ago. Maybe he really was there for Van Ginkel. Vitesse reportedly want 10 million euros, Ajax sniffing at the player as well. He's a midfielder who's particularly adept at bursting forward into the box without the ball to get onto the end of crosses and through balls. For all he's dicking around with his contract he does seem to be planning for the future still. I just hope that he's not scouting for Schalke on our money.
