Paddock
Our backups have been Vic, Jelavic, Kone and to a degree Niasse so I do see Long as a step forward. I'd rather have him on in heartbeat than see Kone or Niasse. I'll make it clear he isn't my first choice, the boy Janssen would probably be. Realistically if Lukaku goes can we attract 2 quality strikers to come here who are in their prime? Whether he's better than Kone or Niasse we need to be aiming higher than Shane Long. Plus Soton aren't going to want to sell anyone to us so we'd have to pay through the nose. I wouldn't mind paying over the odds for Forster, Mane or Classe any of the others I'm not sure I'd want to pay any more than market value for. StevO
Really I don't want anyone from Southampton, they will want crazy money. Aim high lads, real high. Lowensda and markjazzbassist
Sven Biggolo
On the subject of who Koeman may bring from Southampton... Dave Watson the gk coach for them and England is highly regarded - worked with Hart, Butland, Foster and Forster in his time at Birmingham (where he got a lot of credit for development of the 1st 3), Southampton and England. If you don't know who he is you'll recognise him if you watch the England games - seems a very influential figure. This would make things a lot more interesting for me - the loss of Chris Woods was bad. West Hams upturn in defensive form can be partly attributable to him especially with the emergence of Adriano. If the resume matches up to the skillset Southamptons GA column then its another ray of light on the horizon for me. I'm guessing Martinez's goalkeeping coach has moved on now?! Didn't really notice him arrive tbh.. - harsh perhaps but well founded no less.

The pursuit of Koeman has shown Morishi is wanting to make an impression. Most of those players we think are the stuff of dreams are what we should be aiming for.
