YESSSSSS, that was unexpected, but welcome. We seem to be wining more games away this season than at home. was listening to bit on a radio in work and sounded as though we had plenty of chances to sew the game up

Moyes said in an interview that joey was brilliant. typical, hes off to fookin africa now

Quote Barry Horne..>Everton were the better of two POOR sides.

However, got me scrappy own goal 1-0 win & 3pts...Happy 4 now.

Yup..horrible to watch, but its a good solid 3 points..if DM had a little more faith in osman we could have saved ourselves a few bob on davies, and put it towards a striker.

Not so sure we were poor as Barry Horne mentioned.

We pretty much strangled Portsmouth out of the game because we had a solid defence and pressed them really hard from the front. They couldn't get any momentum at all and we fully deserved to win. On another day, Timmy and Ossie would convert their headed chances at the start and end of the first half and we win comfortably.

Biggest change in the past 3 weeks is that we look very solid in defence and are able to defend higher up the pitch because Joey and Matteo have pace. Matteo is also a much better organiser of the back four than Weir.

I cann't see why Moyes didn't give Matteo a chance earlier - he played well whenever he was given a chance.

Top marks to the team - they played exactly the right game for yesterday on a difficult pitch against a team who had lots of ndebuts and a lot to prove.

Bit of a performance like last year

Agreed, i was there and although it wasnt the best game ever we played well, kept the ball, and made chances. It could have been 3 if we had a decent striker and Beattie ran his socks off all day.

Well done lads and a special mention to marcus bent for taking the piss outa the portsmouth fans while he warmed up brought a smile to all the traveling evertonians :D
