  1. I think most fans here wanted him. People were just baulking a bit at the price, especially for a player from a relegated team. I actually wanted him a few seasons ago as a replacement for Rodwell when he was just bursting onto the scene and was being heavily linked to united. Interesting to see this same scenario happen but with Fellaini, not Rodwell.
  2. Has anyone been able to find a decent Yeovil Town forum to hear about his performances? I wouldn't mind checking up on how he's been going so far.
  3. I think you've pretty much covered all the bases in terms of positions that need strengthening. I think in an ideal world Duffy would step into Distin's place in the near future and provide that aerial presence that we'd otherwise be lacking in defence. In reality I think we'll look to cash in on Duffy after his loan finishes and bring in a Distin clone like Bruno Martins Indi.

I'm just hoping Gibbo is fit and raring to go. Otherwise I fear we'll be seeing something along the lines of a Osman-McCarthy centre midfield pairing
  5. Manchester City 2 - 1 Everton Baines
  6. Just remember you might have fucked up with the move to United, but they'll eat up this look back at clown school.
  7. Gang of Four - Not Great Men Sufjan Stevens - Too Much Jeff Buckley - Halleluja
  8. I like how he points to Moyes's use of a 4-4-2, with a slightly deeper striker in place of an extra mid, as allowing Man city to over-run them in midfield, but ignores that city played exactly the same formation with Aguero playing the deeper role that Rooney did. Think there are deeper issues with United than what formation they put out at the moment.
  9. Cheers. Might give another one a go and hope to get some older stuff in there. Gave the Oceansize track a listen and will have to remember them for the future. Not exactly my cup of tea, but not a far stretch by any means. Don't know how big an Arcade Fire fan you are Matt, but have you given there recent effort a listen?
  10. Bit different to be losing against WBA or Villa than drawing with Spurs, but all three results bode well for our boys anyway
  11. Players' vote seems to be split: http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2013/09/27/crest-vote-splits-players
  12. I just get the feeling he's found his level. I have no doubt that he'll get another chance at the highest level at some stage, but seems like the kind of player that'll dominate the Championship and struggle in the Prem. Hope he keeps up his current form though and wish him all the best for the future.

  14. Completely agree. I think we're just as liable to cock up a league cup game with a full strength team when compared to a second 11. Even Fulham made 6 changes from their weekend game, so what are we blaming their win on? Bottom line is we should have won with the team we put out and Roberto should've been willing to alter things a bit sooner before the goal.
  15. It's the same rule that would have netted us a bit of cash when Gosling left for Newcastle if we'd actually offered him a proper contract (at least I believe it is...) It's supposed to be akin to a developers fee, so that top clubs can't just nab young, out of contract stars for nothing.
  16. Having a second look at that attempt and I have to agree with you now. Looks nicely composed compared to the other two and is obviously what the board were looking for in a new crest.
  17. Agreed the option the club have given are too safe. Should have really given the fans something like 6 options to vote on to actually provide some variety and take some risks with the designs. Ideally they'd provide 6 or so options and then get design feed back as well, rather than put it straight to vote. Onto your revised efforts I like all three and can't really split them. Not that it'll effect the outcome of our new crest now unfortunately
  18. Not a bad attempt, but fails to meet many of the criteria the club are after in a new crest (e.g. club name outside the crest shape, gradient colouring used rather than solid colouring). On a personal level I actually think it almost looks too modern. Feel like it would go out of date again in another 10 years. Would rather we go for a more timeless design. I like the inclusion of a differing shade of blue, as well as the traditional royal blue Everton colours in the crest though. Feel like the new crest options given to vote on look too uniform and boring, and will just fade into the background when used in combination with other largely royal blue designs (i.e. the home strip, the website and other products).
  19. Apparently not in recent times: MATCH FACTSEverton are unbeaten against Fulham in their last eight clashes in all competitions, winning six and drawing two. Fulham have enjoyed just one home win in their last five games against the Toffees in all competitions, losing two and drawing two.
  20. Noticed that he got his first minutes for Vitesse over the weekend. Got a cheeky assist for the last goal after coming off the bench: http://www.footytube.com/video/eredivisie-vitesse-3-0-pec-zwolle-223678?ref=search
  21. Man City Chelsea Man Utd Arsenal Tottenham Newcastle Cardiff Fulham Sunderland Crystal Palace Think injuries will have a massive effect on who goes down this year. Not much separating a lot of clubs clamouring for mid-table positions.
  22. From all sounds of it Martinez is likely to throw Gibson into the action at some stage against Fulham, but alternatively Barry can slot in there from the beginning instead.
  23. I reckon we could well see a 3-4-3 trotted out against Fulham mid-week if Roberto sees it as tactically viable. Best way to give young Barkley a rest with our lack of attacking mid replacements. Personally thinking of something along these lines: --------------------Joel-------------------- -----Stones---Jagielka---Heitinga----- Hibbert--McCarthy--Gibson--Oviedo -------Deulofeu---------Naismith------- -------------------Kone------------------- As much as a lot of people want to see a full strength team to give us the best chance of league cup success, how many times have we seen such full (or mostly full) strength teams fail to unheralded opposition in the past? (e.g. Wigan last season, Reading in 10/11, Brentford in the league cup 10/11, Birmingham City 09/10) I have confidence in our squad depth now to give a several of the lads a mid-week rest and think the likes of Deul, Kone, Stones and Oviedo deserve another look in for this match too.
