We don't really want Barry to be playing twice a week which means Davies probably comes in (hopefully ahead of Gibson & Cleverly). The bonus is that it will help Davies development but it leaves us short of quality in a key position.

I guess he is like the boss of scouts. Koeman has said that he doesn't really get involved with transfers so I would guess that Koeman says I want this type of player and then Walsh ' s job is to find that type of player and identifying the right type of price for the board to then negotiate.

From what I hear on Henry on Sky he seems to talk shit most of the time so I was surprised by the appointment. I don't really get what the fuss is about Martinez's first game. He has had the players for a few days, they were only playing a friendly and they were against one of the best teams in the World (the same also applied to Spain). Belgium were shite in the Euros and Mirallas and Lukaku were probably just dropped because he knows all about them already and wanted to look at others in a game.

Yep. Lukaku was probably the biggest but even he was a try before you buy. I doubt he would have signed for us in that first year.

Pre Mohsiri we would say this was a solid window without being spectacular but given what they have said throughout the summer (Mohsiri/Bill/Koeman) and the money now available to us and the rest of the league with the TV money, you have to say that it has been poor. If we have a run of injuries to our starters then our first team pool is really weak in a lot of important positions such as up front and an attacking midfielder, GK and left back aren't too strong either.

This isn't Walsh 's fault unless he hasn't been identifying the right players to get. It seems a bit mad to me that a man famed for bringing in players on the cheap was then after sissoko on a massively inflated fee. I think we will see his true effect from January onwards.

How many players would you all be genuinely happy to have to play the rest of the season with because that in my opinion is a true test of depth? Mine would be: Stek Baines Jags / Williams / Mori Coleman / Holgate Barry Gana / McCarthy Mirallas / Gerry / Bolasie / Barkley Lukaku Others can chip in for a game here or there and Davies / Dowell may be able to come in and hold their own but that leaves us with 15 genuine first team starters and most of them are in the attacking midfielder or winger roles. 2 of them will also be in Africa in January.

Based on what he has said I think we have had a close escape there. The bloke sounds like a tool and given a lot of the Newcastle fans comments he doesn't seem to fit the type of mentality we would want at the club.
