  1. 9. ALL-STAR ACCOLADES: Tim Howard returned to play for his club on US shores when Everton visited for the 2009 MLS All-Star Game. The occasion was a celebration of sorts for one of the league’s most successful exports and Howard marked it in a big way, saving three penalties in Everton’s shootout win and taking home MVP honors. 3. SCORE TO SETTLE: Manchester United would eventually move on from Howard in 2006 after a drop in form, and it was with Everton that he found consistency. He had the chance to face his former team on a huge occasion in 2009, when the two met at Wembley in a semifinal match of the 2009 FA Cup. Howard kept a clean sheet in the game, then stopped two penalties in the subsequent shootout to send Everton through to the final and get a measure of revenge against his former employers. Couple of extra comments re shootouts
  2. Career 16 from 56 which doesnt include penalty shootouts. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tim-howard/elfmeterstatistik/spieler/4267
  3. Gueye was superb along with Barry. They must be putting themselves forward for the best midfield pairing in the league. Gueye just edged it though with his running at the death.
  4. Get in! Should have scored more than a dodgy penalty rebound but a win is a win. Great performance from everyone again though, cant really find a weak link.
  5. I dont. You have more chance of scoring if the shot is on target. Just look at the penalty!
  6. I agree with Haf that Rom for Gerry could see the end of this game.
  7. Barkley has to hit that first time as well! The approach is different but the chances to goals ratio isn't!
  8. Bolasie has to get that on target too...18 yards out, perfectly weighted ball.
  9. Barkley should have won it at one end and then we are really lucky to not have conceded at the other!
  10. He saved quite a lot, including shoot outs. Google it
  11. Cant believe that we arent a couple ahead by now. They have one excellent chance but we have had a hatful of chances and not finished them off. Hopefully it is only a matter of time!
  12. Outrageous save! He always was an excellent penalty stopper.
  13. Players very rarely ever come back the same from injuries like that, especially attacking players.
  14. Exactly that... I dont think he necessarily goes about it in the right way but he is ambitious and he wants to win things. If you take that out of him you get Arouna Kone.
  15. I have never seen him play well enough to deserve that price tag though... Sure he is a decent player but I would rather have paid £15mil more and bought Stones.
  16. Yeh probably didn't phrase that too well! What I meant to say is that I can see him having the potential to do really well in the Premiership if he can adapt to the physicality of the league. He doesn't look the most robust and things wont be as easy for him over here as they were in Italy, which is generally more tactical, than physical. The price tag that has been reported therefore makes it a risky deal and I think it will either prove a bargain or a bust, rather than anywhere in the middle.
  17. This fella looks clinical and technically excellent but I would worry about whether he will be physical enough for the league. I could see him becoming a huge player for us if he signs but it's definitely a big risk.
  18. Yeh Monaco were the worst team in the pot to face but bar PSG I would be happy pulling out any French team.
  19. I feel sorry for City they always come up against one of the massive clubs. Spurs group seems reasonable enough, Leicester 's is probably the best draw they could have ever wished for but Arsenals good be interesting. Basel normally spring a surprise!
  20. Thanks Dunc. Regarding Pennington he looks a pure old fashioned style defender, perfect for the lower leagues so no surprise he has done well there. I know he got game time under Martinez however I think he will suit Koeman's style more.
  21. I might be getting him confused by Pennington? Who knows!
  22. Isn't Connolly a CB by trade or am I getting confused? Was he the lad that started at RB against Norwich and then got injured and was replaced by someone else I can't remember!?
