I didn't really rate him at Chelsea up until the season before Mourinho turned up (for the 2nd time) when he was brilliant, Chelsea 's POTY if I remember rightly, but since he has gone to Utd he hasn't done anything either. He is definitely the type if player we need but I would have my doubts about whether its him.

If he stays I wonder if they will give him a new contract? Obviously if September comes and he doesn't get a new deal then he can't move until January. I think I would be going nuts if I was Kone.

It's not like they only have to use their right but I would expect them to be able to control the ball and play simple passes equally well off both feet. With wingers you wouldnt care and there are plenty of FB'S can play on the right and left. It seems strange for us to have such a surplus at LB and to only have one RB.

Garbutt should be given a go on the right in Colemans absence. Considering he has played in midfield throughout his career as well as FB I am sure he would cope.

McGeady isn't even an above average Championship player. Oviedo isn't much higher either but I rate Cleverly enough to keep him in the squad. Williams is an above average PL CB probably better than anything we have here at the moment, especially when you look at what we need at the moment. Must admit though that other than Lukaku and maybe Barry, Baines, Coleman and McCarthy (on their form before last season) then we don't have many others that are above average. However that is still more than we have ever had!

I get the passing angles but I would hope that players who kick a ball every day of their lives would be at the very least competent with their wrong foot. I'm not expecting them to ping balls like Beckham. In terms of tackling when I play at the back I prefer playing on the left as a right footer.

Back to Witsel, I have never been that impressed with him and the supposed deal struck me as a massive waste of money so all in all I am glad it hasn't gone through.

I don't see why one of the LB'S hasn't been trained up to play on the right. It's the same game but from the other side and while I am sure it would be unusual to start with, considering we have 4 of the fuckers and no one else on the right it seems silly. Baines would be my pick every day.

Only having the squad 70% ready isn't good enough IMO given how long he has been working with them this summer. Sounds like a ready made excuse.
