£12m for McCarthy is way too much imo, though I do think he would start ahead of Osman and Gibson, so if we could get him cheaper (preferably under 8m) I'd be happy. I sincerely doubt that Redmond is good enough for Everton and I can't see £2m be enough of an incentive for Birmingham to sell him either. Ince I'd like for the right money, something in that 4-6 bracket. I don't think Moses is a very realistic target and I would rather get a more crafty player, rather than a pacey powerhouse.

I'm not sure he is good enough to be a 30 match starter for us, but If Hal Robson-Kalu Is really going for only £2m then I think he would be a solid player and is only 24. Scored a decent amount of goals for Reading, and several of those were off the bench. He has solid speed, and can deliver a decent cross. For £2m we could do much worse than get a winger who scored 6 goals on the year in matches he was substituted on.

  2. I was talking about personnel. Our team has a very talented 1st 11. But...I am all for a change of tactics. I would love to see us play fancy possession, or creative attacking football. We have the dangerous FB's to play really exciting football in a 3-5-2 or 5-3-2, and if a miracle happens and Fellaini stays he would make a monster of an anchor man in that type of a formation. I could see him wining the ball, pressing forward, and us becoming a VERY dangerous counterattacking team. We do need someone who is creative(and pacey) in the middle of the pitch and going forward though.

  3. Some Bundesliga shouts who I think we should be interested in;

    Hiroshi Kiyotake (AM) http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/hiroshi-kiyotake/profil/spieler_86175.html

    Kevin Volland (ST) http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/kevin-volland/profil/spieler_82009.html

    Sebastian Rode (DM) http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/sebastian-rode/profil/spieler_44466.html

All young, very talented and not at the 'bigger' clubs. Could be poached, would need persuading. BD and BM have shown interest in all three.

All very good players, but Kiyotake has the ability to play for ANY big club. I would love to have him here. Also Kiyotake is a player who can adapt to a forgien culture as he only moved to the Bundesliga last season.

  4. I think martinez has made it clear that he isn't going to make radical changes. He has stated that clearly. I think he will supplement the squad with the right players and then when he sees fit he will try different formations and systems, which is why pre season will be very interesting.

This would be the smartest move he could make. Do maintenance on you products to keep it in top form, but do not try to fix what is not broken.

  5. Felli goes for £24 mill we get McCarthy £12,Ince £4,Redmond £2 and moses plus change. Sell Jonny and Naismith and out of our own pot buy a striker

For me Mccarthy is not worth that, and I think Redmond is more like a £5-7m player, and Ince will be a £8-12m player this summer. If no one buys him then he may go for £4-5M in Jan. I would take either Blackpool winger though.

  6. I don't know much about him. He couldn't get in Club Brugge's team last season though. He was just 20 years old at the time though. He looks good on Youtube :D

He was only 19 during his loan spell at Brugge.

Hopefully we don't pay too much, for someone who has ultimately been just a flash in the pan. Don't get me wrong, a talented one but with only a (nearly) full season under his belt, at Championship level, he's got to do a littlr more before I can gauge whether he'll be good enough for a top 10 prem team.

Usually I would agree, but he has great speed, and I get excited by young players who are productive at a solid level. Rumors are that Udinese rejected a bid of £8m. If that's true then I would leave him for someone else, but he seems to have the ability to be a very good Prem player.

  7. I am sure Rom or Louis know this, but do Liege have a sell on clause? I wonder about this because if his buyout clause is at £22m and Liege have a sell on clause we could maybe end up only making £3-4m profit off of his sale. You then combine that with the signing fees for him and his agent and his resigning fees, and we could end up not making anything off of his sale. My mind wanders, but that's kind of a scary thought. I hope his buyout clause is larger than the number quoted.

I hate agents. For me they are one of the two worst things to ever happen to football; the other being flopping for penalties.

Here is a nice video of scoring chances from Cornelius. Shows good touch and agility for a big guy, and a strong eye for goal(not surprising). He is willing to try some pretty goals, but he needs to learn to put a little more power into his header, although he seems equally adept with his feet and head. Seems to have good recognition for when to use his body to win the ball from smaller defenders. Overall, not ready to be a star in the Prem, but ready to be a productive Prem player, and you can see all the tools there for him to develop into a star.

. Apparently I don't have the button for imbedding a video so I used BBC.

Got code wrong I guess. Video will not show up. Here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxBhbE_1330

Use video tags matey either side of the url

That video won't work, so probably because it is full screen by default.

    Thanks Av got it working

  10. Not that anyone care what someone with 200ish posts has to say, but I like Martinez for a lot of the reasons I liked Moyes. Both are fierce competitors, both are astute students of the game, both spend their free time catching other teams matches, both work to acquire the best players available to them. Moyes was as resistant to selling players as any manager ever, and I hope Martinez ambition tells him to retain as much of our squad as possible. While I think he is a very capable manager nothing annoys me more than managers who are so determined to put their signature on a squad that they let great players leave a club, and believe they can find better replacements. I understand that certain players will better fit in Martinez plan over Moyes, and could be good players for us, but players like Fellaini and Baines are great enough for any type of play.

I am resigned to believe that Fellaini will leave the club and I support it as long as he is the one who makes that decision, but Baines should never be allowed to leave the club unless he develops injury problems or demands a transfer. I believe Baines is one of those players we will all tell our children how they don't make players like him anymore, and will be remembered as one of the clubs all time greats. I would be gutted to see a player like him leave.

  11. Am I alone in finding it odd that he was not included in the Gold Cup squad, instead he's named in the Confederations Cup?

I'm not complaining, just seems odd that they aren't taking their #1 goalkeeper to a continental competition.

Klinsmann announced some time ago that Gold Cup would be mostly young and fringe players this term.

Huh? The U.S. isn't even taking part in this year's Confederation's Cup.

    Yep

I think Guzan looks better than he is due to the amount of saves he has to make. His decision making is erratic, he is poor under a high ball and whilst he is a good shot stopper I dont think he is that good in the grand scheme of things.

I would not be surprised to have Howard hold it for a few more years until Johnson gets his European move and have him succeed Howard. Johnson is the best athlete of the bunch. He can make any save, but lacks the natural instincts for making highlight saves, but seems to allow fewer stupid goals. Hes good at handling, but lacks the distribution skills of a premier league keeper. He could definitely use some top coaching to become an elite keeper.

  12. Never more have I been shocked at some evertonians lack of football knowledge and applying sound judgement than in the new manager scenario.

I have seen pereira become a manager than 99% of fans no fuck all about become the "gotta get him, he's the best man for the job" just because he was successful in an uncompetitive league at a well resourced club.

I have seen Martinez judges as a manager based purely on his league finishes, without any consideration to the huge challenge he faced.

    Such as:-

Complete inability type retain any talent due to wage cap of £25k a week.

Having to source players who will play in front of 18,000 fans in a non footballing town.

Having to reduce the wage bill by 22% in a footballing economy that was increasing player wages.

All whilst improving the footballing culture of the club, gaining admiration for the style and culture....

It's all about opinions, and it's fair enough, but what pisses me right off are people who will argue the toss despite knowing sod all or recognising valid points that counter their stance.

100% accurate. The constraints he dealt with were only slightly less problem some than Ian Holloway at Blackpool. Martinez acquired a lot of quality players on the cheap. Here he will not have the flexibility to take chances with players, but he is as ready to be Evertons manager as anyone else we could have had, and for football idiots always remember last year he turned down the Shite and this year chose us.

  13. Lucas Piazon wants to leave Chelsea and hopes that another PL-club will give him an honest go.

    http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/lucas-piazon/profil/spieler_176485.html

If we aren't on the phone with his agent this very second, we are severely fucking up.

My guess is it will be for loan, and I prefer not to develop others players, but if he is available for a decent price he could be come the dangerous creative attacker we all lust for.

  14. He was probably just sold because he was shit. What other reason than him being shit is needed?

"We signed this lad, he's shit. What should we do?"

    "Should we sell him?"

    "Great idea!"

On Alcaraz, is he a left footer? If he is, and we can shift Johnny, we would have two leftys with Alcaraz and Distin, and two rightys with Jags and Duffy. An ideally balanced scenario?

Yeah, but how long did we stick with Yakubu, Bily, and now Johnny with poor performances. Hell we all chastised Victor for several seasons, and to be honest he had no business playing for Everton. We stuck with him and he seems a much improved player. Not to mention last year Wigan were linked so maybe Martinez has special plans for him. Kroldrup made over 100 appearances for one of the top 6 Italian sides. More happened then was told. My guess is he had personal problems with Moyes or one of his staff.
