  1. Ive not seen Brentford play this season, but I admit I'm intrigued by Jake Bidwells development. He has made 50 appearances for a team who is in the League 1 Playoff final in a few days. I would be disappointed if he wasn't given a chance to compete next season. I know he hasn't been as highly touted as some players, and doesn't develop on Footy Manager, but something has to be said for his appearances, and the teams performance.

  2. Putting actual managerial stuff aside, he's a deplorable human being who thinks the world is against him and not the type of character that is needed at EFC.

    I'm not a Lennon fan in the least, but hasn't he had a lot of death threats as Celtic. It seems like I remember reading that he even had people send things to his house and light up his phone. That would make most people think the world is against them.

  3. yes,,i really am...i thank moyes for everything he does and will cheer as loud as anyone for him this sunday...but the ceiling has been reached with him..not sure why..maybe cos the whole package was stale or because he was negative..either way i haven't enjoyed our football for ages now

    thank you david..and all the best

    We maintained our place over the last 5 years under Moyes. The only places we have fallen were directly related to Tottenham and Man City getting their huge investment. The last 2 we have been better than our bitter rival even if we haven't beaten them directly.

    I appreciate all he has done, and hope him the best in the future. There are so few true gentlemen out there who are masters of their craft, and we have unfortunately lost one.

  4.

    Not unrealistic. Fellaini, Heitinga and maybe baines leaving. would generate maybe 25-30 mil. plus the new tv money.

    Felli on his own should generate that! £20m+ for Baines (though as I said I don't think he'll go) and a few quid for Heits and we're talking upwards of £50m plus the new TV money.

    You both make good points. I hope our board reinvests whatever is made through player sales.

  5. Also mind that Porto has had a decline under Pereira. Back in the AVB days they won the Europa League as well as the portuguese title with like a 20 point gap. Since Pereira took over, things got a lot more close. They're neck on neck with Benfica, though the latter one lost Witsel last summer.

    I dont know if that is Porto declining so much as Benfica having 4 guys with double digit goals, and 2 having at least 25.

  6. Mignolet(Mucha)

    Coleman(Stones) Heits(Jags) Distin(Duffy) Oviedo(Garbutt)

    Lallana(Pienaar) Gibson(Lundstram) McCarthy(Junior) Mirallas(Kennedy)

    Diego(Osman)

    Anichebe(Jelavic)

    4 realistic targets around the £10 mil bracket each, probs have money left over to reduce the club debt too.

    If the next Manager is Martinez I would be dubious that we would get that many players from England. Wigan has a decent sized squad. I would guess he would search for some good buys in Spain such as Iago Aspas or Míchel(Migeul Alfanso Herrrero) . I would also guess he would increase the squad size. He has a penchant for finding good buys.

  7. Vitor Pereira would be my second choice if Roberto Martinez refused to sign for us. I've watched the Portuguese league almost every weekend this year (especially Porto) so I know quite a bit about him.

    As it stands he could still win the Portuguese league if he manages to beat Benfica at the weekend and he also managed to get FC Porto into the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League this season when they were defeated by a narrow margin against Malaga.

    He seems like a Portuguese version of Martinez if I'm being honest. Whenever I've watched Porto they play attacking football (which is what we all want) and due to them being in the Champions League he obviously has a lot of experience in the major competitions we are aiming to take part in.

    I'd be more than happy with him as our new boss - and he could even bring Joao Moutinho with him. wub.png

    I admit Ive not seen any Portuguese matches this year, but I imagine it would be difficult to leave those to Colombians Rodriguez and Martinez. They would make any managers job much easier.

    Isnt there a salary cap from next season??

    Not a salary cap so much as a limit on the running losses a club can sustain. Big clubs can still spend more than small clubs, but that is only relative to their income. These are the principle rules:

    • to introduce more discipline and rationality in club football finances;

    • to decrease pressure on salaries and transfer fees and limit inflationary effect;

    • to encourage clubs to compete with(in) their revenues;

    • to encourage long-term investments in the youth sector and infrastructure;

    • to protect the long-term viability of European club football;

    • to ensure clubs settle their liabilities on a timely basis.

    Ive never once said that Moyes was perfect, nobody is, however I just think he is a lot better than some of you give him credit for

    Hes a hell of a lot better than Ive seen some people speak about him on this board. Almost Always a top 8 club under him despite not spending money of a team befitting of our place. Yeah we lose to some bottom feeders, but frequently we look quite impressive against top sides, and most importantly Moyes has done an amazing job of keeping top players here despite almost constant speculation over outgoing transfers. That being said, yeah the football is often ugly, strikers rarely flourish, and he doesn't give youngsters enough of a chance, but really who would do better? 2 years ago people were calling for Owen Coyle, and now Roberto Martinez. Maybe Martinez is good enough, and our squad is older and he could help build the next generation, but if Moyes wants to be here then I want him here. Consistency is what makes someone great, and we have been consistently very good under Moyes. Maybe not often great, but would do better?

  10. This is that job posting The Sun was talking about last week. I found the link on a Dutch site. It said the unnamed Dutch footballer could be moving in the near future. Seems his children are near the ages of those listed.

    Thought I would post this because of the recent chatter about Joleon returning to The Blues.

  11. Chang isn't the best lager Ive had, but its not to bad. Made me feel good buying a 6er(dumb I know) just because I'm an Everton supporter. Cant find it in Michigan though. Bought it in Chicago.

    We could have a lot to gain from such a deal especially considering our low commercial revenue. On the other hand a couple years ago fox soccer had this Aussie program that was similar in trying to find new talent competition with the winner getting a contract. The show wasn't horrible, but the players really lacked class. I would be surprised if any of those players made it professionally.

  12. I can't even remember a last league win at Anfield in the league. must have been 1999/2000 when Campbell (?) scored early, but can't quite think right now. Would be real bad to lose to those..., especially as we have awkward fixtures thereafter and it was mentioned, they have an easier run-in. The snide Suarez will be out for them, so there's every opportunity to get something here. Take away one or two decent players, and they don't offer much. Don't see no reason why we can't get a result out of this, but think all three points may be asking too much. Still await who will be officiating this contest ?

  13.

    What makes you think players from the Danish, Austrian and Belgian leagues or from the Spanish second division would have an easier time adapting to the Premier League than one from the better Dutch league? I don't know most of those players, but I do know Ezekiel really well and while he's talented, he doesn't fit our scheme. There's no way he can play as the lone striker, that's something you have to take into account as well. I also don't think he'd be much cheaper than Altidore, I think they'll both be about €8m and I think that will probably be about what the rest of those players cost as well. Altidore isn't the next van Persie or Suarez so he's not a €15m+ player.

    I thought Ezekiel was more of a €3-5m player based off Liege recent player sales, and most of the players I listed would be in that range. I think based off recent Dutch transfers for a player with Altidore's goal ratio and two+ years left on his deal would be a €15+m player. My point was that there is going to be an adapting time for most players, and Everton should avoid expensive players that are unable to make their presence felt immediately especially because this summer we are likely to lose a key player. BTW I agree Ezekiel is not a lone striker,(Note, All conjecture beyond this point) however after reading this and the rumors surrounding Lescott coming back I was hoping Moyes was looking at playing 3 at the back and playing Baines and Coleman as wings allowing us 2 up front.

  14. I'll be happy with a win, and unhappy with anything else. They are without their best player, and our guys are fighting for Europe. I know everyone is tired, but there is only 4 1/2 more hours of football this term.

  15.

    I don't reckon they will. From what I've read they have a lot of high wage earners.

    I think they have too many players where the money is more important than their career that will not move unless their wages are kept at a similar rate.

    100% agree with this. They get what they deserve. They alienated most of the guys who got them there. Taarabet and Green I would Imagine leave, but cannot fathom how much money they must have thrown at Mbia, Remy, and Samba to convince them to come.
