  1. Didnt realise there had been so many changes, When you look at some of the previous ones theres not much wrong with the latest one.

It does not feel very Everton, but I love that 82-83 Crest. I wish the club would do a couple throwback t-shirts. I would buy one with that crest on it; very classy indeed.

  2.

You need to look at the reason as to why Jelly hasnt been scoring this season, yes partly down to him being zapped of confidence maybe he got found out. I personally think that Moyes has a large part of blame to take with Jelly due to Moyes playing Fellaini as forward, Fella was knocking and flicking the long balls on to Jelly which would mean that Jelly was having to control the ball back to goal and hold the ball up or eithier the ball was getting flicked on out into the channels and he would have to chase down etc. I do agree though that the chances he has had this season he has squanderd due to a lack of confidence from the points already mentioned.

If Jelly was in united teams I would bet he would have scored at least 20+, they make decent chances for thier forwards. United would not have there best finisher and centre forward working the channels for the flick ons and knock downs.

I agree that more attractive football would have helped him, but as has been mentioned before he missed more than a few sitters, and lacks the speed to create his own chances.

  3. Brazil's preparations for a major international soccer tournament have been hit by "human error" and heavy rain, which caused the roof of Salvador's host stadium to partially collapse. The Arena Fonte Nova is due to host three matches in the eight-nation Confederations Cup, considered a warmup for the 2014 World Cup also in Brazil, with the first to be played on June 20. But stadium administrators now face major repairs after a triangular tear appeared in one section of the roof on Monday as it buckled under the weight of rain water.

2 Weeks till the Confederations Cup starts. Its good to see that the person who was responsible for inspecting the roof caused the damage. On another note I personally Tahiti pulls off the upset.

  4. I'd much rather he stays and we add to the team around him. In a midfield three he could be immense.

While that clause is there in his contract, there will always be doubt. It'll be unsettling, whether publicly acknowledged or not. If he is going, he should be sold as soon as possible so that funds are available for the new manager to bring in his own players before the window closes. It feels like in recent years, sales are always left 'til the final days of the window and then it leaves little time to find a replacement.

If the clause is indeed in his contract then he does need to go soon. There is no question Moyes was a massive influence on his decision to stay, and with Moyes departure I think The Fro will soon follow. Hopefully we get a good deal, and can perhaps get a player in return. Fellani is well suited for any large English club, and I think he would fit in well with PSG, Zenit, Anzhi, and AC Milan. We cannot afford to have a star player unsettled. We must look to the future.

  5. I'm coming around to the idea of Martinez now. :67:

Care to share why the change of heart?

Best of the options available? I personally have been impressed with Martinez since the South Africa WC when he was a studio analyst for ESPN. He offered a nice opinion and seems to have a solid vision of how player can fit together.

After being gone for the (American) Holiday weekend I had hoped we would have settled on a new Manager. I did read that maybe The Mirror? had speculated Martinez could command an exit fee of £5M. If that is true then perhaps the club should look in another direction. Perhaps that's why things are yet to be settled.

  6. Did you see Keith Wyness' comment on twitter? He said had he been in a similar situation to Elstone, he'd have offered his resignation after the apology.

Easy to say that when he's not in Elstone's position.

I'll let sleeping dogs lie, but I do wonder why he is not in Elstone's position.

  7. Every time I look at the new crest all I can think about is it looks more like a silo for grain or corn than a tower, but hey that's just my 2 cents. I hope they choose not to change it. A few years ago my uni chose to team with Nike to change the symbol, but there was a huge backlash and they reverted to the original. Following the public outcry the Athletic Director had this to say.

"The recent disclosure of an updated Spartan logo from a trademark registration process has resulted in a flurry of concern and discontentment among some of our students, alumni, and fans," Hollis' statement reads. "I have given careful attention to thoughtful comments received and sought additional counsel regarding how ideas might be incorporated into the overall strategic brand and identity process. ... After careful consideration, we will use the current Spartan logo design, first used in the late 1970s, to build our visual brand identity."

These are the two logos. The one on the left was the Original, and the one on the right was the one they wanted to change it to.spartans-logos-22jpg-8c248242e176c259_me

Don't just concentrate on players who have 'made it' but look at players who have also gone on to play at other clubs - that is also a measure of success for the academy (not necessarily Moyes).

Current 1st team squad : Anichebe, Osman, Hibbert, Barkley, Duffy

Current academy grads who have made the 1st team squad : McAleny, Garbutt, Bidwell, Taudul (pre-season), Stones, Kennedy, Springthorpe

Expect to feature : Lundstram, Hamar, Green

Players who have come thru the academy and moved elsewhere : Rooney, Rodwell, Ruddy, Vaughan, Wallace, Forshaw, Baxter

All of these players will make a living from playing football and that is also a measure of success for our youth development.

If you can bring through 1 player per season it will probably pay for the entire academy and the lease on Finch farm - we're already well ahead just on Rooney and Rodwell.

You can also add Hope Akpan. Made several apps for Reading after his January transfer, and will prob end up a Nigerian international.

  9.

That says Neville is working towards a Uefa pro-licence. Anyone actually have any idea how long it would take to get that, at minimum?

    from wikipedia:

    Qualification

Following an induction period, those wishing to qualify for the Pro-Licence need to undergo a year-long course which involves around 240 hours of study combining a mixture of distance learning, online learning and conference calls. Once this has been successfully completed there is a residential study week at University of Warwick.[3]"

  10. I love Nev, and think he can be a great manager because of his leadership skills, but he needs to prove himself 1st. I hope we get a younger manager who has some experience, but if we are hiring from current staff I would without question prefer Round. Hell I would prefer Round to Pulis, and pretty much any name Ive heard yet sans Martinez.

  11. When Moyes took the EFC job he was offered the assistants job at Man U. He said "Everton have offered me the top job". After three year at EFC it was clear that Man U wanted him as their next manager. Each year we had ton suffer the indignity of accepting that our man will be off down the East Lancs Rd when it suits Man U. Moyes' time at Everton was being dictated by Man U.

EFC should have lined up a replacement long ago when they knew what the position was. The club have been degraded by all of this over the past 11 years and especially the past month.

    What?!?!

    Are you trolling John ?

  12. Very ambitious vision John, and I think we all would love a new stadium, but I would imagine this is nowhere near the boards priorities at the moment. I think the most important thing now is for the club to mind a manager who can continue to give the club the stability that Mr Moyes offered. Securing our short term success can transition to our long term success. If we gain an owner who is comfortable investing large amounts of money in the club it will happen. Otherwise it is doubtful the club will gain a new stadium any time soon.

John you must remember that large investments do not guarantee success. Diligent scouting and coaching are always the single largest contributors to a clubs sustained success, and though Arsenal are a financially stable club, it is not because because of their stadium. And like was mentioned above Arsenal have alienated a good portion of their hardcore fan base as a result of the stadium, and ticket prices that are no longer affordable for the average family.(This last portion is not to say that a new stadium is bad, but to "sell out" to get one is not worth it for a club like Everton)

  13. I'm not sure Romey....I think I have always been unsure at what point to wade into conversation...you kind of want to...but when you check back its turned into a bitch session...so u kinda think, 'ah bollocks, better things to do just now'!

There are some real strong posters, each have different opinions...but we have to accept that each opinion is unique to that person...and carry on!!!

Yeah Ive felt the same way before, but this isn't a inclusive board. There is a few dominant posters, but they're pretty friendly as long as your not a twat. Welcome aboard.
