  1. Gentleman those are all great players, However with the expception of RVP they were all 15M+ players and only RVN was a dominant goalscorer his 1st season after leaving Holland. They have a plethora of skillfull players in Holland. I just dont think for the money it is worth waiting a full season to reap the rewards. IMHO we would be better served from poaching strikers from lower Bundesliga sides or clubs in Spain or France with financial difficulties. There are some good strikers out there which would be much less than Jozy such as Imanol Agirretxe, Nils Peterson, Mame Diouf, Johnathan Soria, Simon Makienok, Chuli, Imoh Ezekial, or Nicklas Helenious. And Yes Jozy has had an incredible year.

  2. I don't know how to feel about Jozy. Would he carry over his AZ form to Everton, or would he play like he does with the US National team? Sure he's starved for service at times with the US squad, but it's not like the BPL plays at the pace they do in Holland. The game is slower and the defenders are much better here. We shall see.

Edit: Having another Yank here would make me quite happy though jump%20for%20joy.gif

Jozy has done great for AZ, and he is a physically imposing player, but I'm not sure he would fit in well with Everton for the same reason he struggles with USMNT, build up play. Everton and US both lack that creative guy in the middle to give strikers easy chances. To often its dibble outside then cut inside or cross. NEVER are there those moments where the opposite team is on their back feet with someone dribbling at them(Coleman is the exception, but he lacks the skill to turn those into goals) to feed a through ball to the forward. Both teams look for attackers to hold up play despite most of the teem being 20 yards deep.

  3. To be honest, I don't really rate him. He's been scoring goals, but I don't see any of the attributes that could mean he might be able to translate that to a higher level as well.

We're linked with lots of players from the Eredivisie lately, btw. There's two strikers in Holland who I like a lot. Vitesse's Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony is the best striker in Holland at the moment and I would very much like him here. AZ's American striker Jozy Altidore has improved by leaps and bounds this year and I think he might be a bit cheaper and perhaps present even better value than Bony.

Would love to see Jozy here. He's a beast.

I would prefer to sign no strikers from the dutch league. Its to soft. MF's are a different story because they tend develop some really strong creative or strong holding players, but the dutch strikers seem to always struggle adapting to the physicality of the English game, and on Evertons budget we cannot afford to give a striker a full season to find his feet.

  4.

No doubting that's a fact, it's just that people have been saying the same thing for years and it feels patronising. Newcastle overachieved last year and are now back where they belong, how many years do we have to finish in the top seven/eight for it not to be a surprise?

Maybe if we continue to do it after Moyes leaves? I have often wondered if some people in the media think Moyes and his ability to get and keep great players is the only thing that separates us from the 2nd class clubs.

  5. This just makes me want to move to America even more. sad.png.

Zoo, Don't feel bad. Many things here are not so great, and while I certainly love my country, I long to spend a few years abroad. For me its the whole language problem, work permit(although my girlfriends parents were both born in Poland so if we got married I could probably get an EU permit), and what would I do for a living. I try not to think about it to often because it gets me down.

  6. Fellas you should check out Aereo(https://www.aereo.com/)(im on mobile and cant hotlink). It is 100% legal service. They just won a major lawsuit, and for like $10usd you can watch the major american broadcast channels(ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS) online via computer or mobile in full HD. The company that started it receives the broadcast signal overt the air and redistributes it online. The big broadcasters are making a huge fuss about it because of lost revenue. I dont know if its legal around the world, but its prob worth a look.

  7. No he never gets in the 1st team, but then again even Thiago hasnt had a ton of starts this year. Its just too difficult to break into their 1st team. He has been highly respected as a top prospect for a long time, and last summer Sevilla were linked.

I rember this right up from last year

  8. I really want to say the league, but as long as we finish in the top 7 I'll be happy, however I must admit I would love to win the FA cup. I think as a club we have to measure ourselves against the things we can accomplish. We can beat anyone on any day, but over a season we are gping to struggle to keep the pace with the sugar daddy teams. As we have proven each year we can and will finish ahead of some, but to finish above all seems a nearly impossible task.

  9.

UKIP would have been more apt due to the nationalist nature of the rant.

I had never heard of UKIP, but after reading up they are way far right. I have heard on the news lately there is a lot of people wanting GB to leave the EU. Any thoughts? If I was English I would prob be Labour Party. Im in a union, and politically working class people are who I care most about. Not that any of this matters really, but i digress.

  10. The idea of a Chinese buyout is terrifying. I can see it now it will be just like trade with China. We will sell 2 first team players to a Chinese top division club and get one "hot prospect" back that will turn out to not even play football, but he will come to study to be the the clubs bew doctor. Then they will stop giving the players gatorade in favor of a cheaper Chinese product laced with lead.

BTW... Sorry for the political rant. Have I ever mentioned I'm from Michigan? We used to manufacture many things. Now? Not so much.

  11. 100%. Making fun of 'Murrica is one of my life's pleasures. There's just some misguided information in there akin to me believing the English are all either sallow-skinned, yellow-teethed dandies or sallow-skinned, yellow-teethed hooligans. Of course I would never insinuate such a thing... rolleyes.gif

As an American I find this to be pretty damn funny. Pehaps has been shown before, but reddit has a legendary 'Murican forum I would recommend it to anyone who can have a laugh. www.reddit.com/r/MURICA

  12. I 1st started watching Everton because of Howard, who is my favorite USNT player, but as a whole I think the biggest growth is that Donovan, who is by far the most recognized USNT player, played at Everton. He was on ESPN every week while playing in England, and the fact that he has played well was relevant to many Americans, even non football fans.

  13. This one would be the very definition of "In Moyes We Trust".

I completely trust Moyes, but like Mcfadden, and the other American keeper who played for Wolves. They are a waste of money because they offer nothing, and Mcfadden only played 7 games. Those could have gone to one of our young players who otherwise would get nothing.
