Agreed. We had absolutely nothing through the middle so resorted to just going wide. It was like watching us under Moyes tbf, no different at all.
With Moyes we'd have put some crosses in at least or tried to be more direct. Don't get me wrong, I want Martinez over Moyes every time and I have enjoyed the way we've been playing this season, but there has been an obvious lack of a plan B at times. I think we should try to play our game and control proceedings, but sometimes you need to adapt to the opponent and to the circumstances, or we run the risk of becoming too easy to counter as evidenced last night unfortunately.

Holtby, Canales, both players that seem to be available for a relatively low fee and that, besides adding depth, would probably improve us as Pienaar needs replacing and Osman, well, is Osman.
I will be really pissed off if we don't bring in at least 2 more players until the end of the window.

Mirallas probably. Man of the match sounds bad though, more like only man on the pitch.

Our fans singing the Martinez and Oviedo songs makes me feel slightly better about this.

We are getting battered. Shows how important Distin and Coleman are in the back four. Jagielka has been absolutely shite.
Barry has been worse. They should all be ashamed of themselves anyway.

Next time let's just skip the match and lose 3-0 anyway eh lads? Spare us the embarrassment and allow our players to properly recover from their injuries. Oh, and we'll also avoid even more injuries.
I thought we were going to go there and show some bottle for once.
Feels like watching a film where the bad guy wins. Over and over again.

Still dislike the current one, new one still meh but I can see that one growing on me next season.
And yeah I agree about the stadium crest, the thing we have up there now is embarrassing tbh.

Had to think for a few seconds before all the Chinese came back to me I am probably close to your level now then after not practising at all since leaving uni a few years ago How did you learn btw?
Nikica - appreciate the reply mate, I have already signed up actually and got all my materials a couple of days ago. Quite excited really.

Also if it was down to personal preference, I would like Stoke, Cardiff and Fulham to go down please if I am to be realistic about who can still get relegated.

The 3 favourites for the drop have to be the current bottom 3 really.
Sunderland and West Ham look doomed. Sunderland had a couple of good results recently and people seemed to have been talking about a revival, but really, I'm not convinced after the way they played against us. Their squad is a strange mixture of average British players and plenty of average foreign players, with the bigger names in Giaccherini and Altidore failing to produce (at least when I've watched them!). Don't think there's much hope for them.
West Ham seem to be unable to put an end to their poor form, but I think they have plenty of players out injured, so there might be hope for them. Allardyce might also go soon so with so many ifs surrounding their future it isn't impossible that they'll turn it around. But very often you see a team starting on a downward spiral in the middle of the season, heads dropping and relegation following. West Ham definitely look like that team this season.
As for Palace, obviously Pulis has made a difference. There seems to be a real belief at the club now, and they've actually been decent when I've watched them, so you could easily see them staying up at the expense of Cardiff or Norwich. I still think they have the weakest squad in the league though, and they are still bottom 3 despite all this, so I still think they have a much better chance of getting relegated compared to the clubs immediately above them.

Welcome verreauxi. I'm not an Everton fan but I've been made welcome on these pages and I'm sure you will be also. I liked your Mark Twain quote - very true.
On the education discussion, I studied sociology and geography with the Open University - very interesting subjects.
Dalziel - I see you say you're from Maryland. Have you spent much time in Baltimore? The Wire is set there and I'm just wondering.
Were you happy with your studies at the Open University? Are you working in any of those two fields? I ask because I'm about to start studying Biology with them in February. I have a degree in languages (English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese) from a regular university but I have always been a science man really, don't know what made me go with languages the first time around as I had always been pretty sure I'd go on to be a biologist before that. Had a last minute change of mind that I now regret years later - time to correct that mistake.
Oh and welcome verreauxi! Quite interesting reading about your work, and the subsequent posts have also been enjoyable.

Mike, from what I've read in your posts over the time I've been here, you come across as what I like to imagine most Evertonians are like: friendly, knowledgeable, sensible and now I hope you'll also be very strong to make sure you enjoy what is unfolding at Everton. Good luck mate.

Why would Ross want to be managed by Moyes again?
And I honestly wouldn't take 50 million at the moment. It's a lot of money if true but with the WC coming up there's the potential for his market value to go above that. But that's besides the point as I don't want us to sell him at all regardless of the price. If we want to build something special under Martinez, as we seem to be doing, keeping Barkely is surely one of the most important things. Would be a kick in the balls if we went and sold him over the next couple of years.

That's what I said, however, you cant not give a pentalty in that situation. Maybe compromise by only giving him a yellow? I dont know.
You can actually. No foul, no penalty. He'd get booked and it would be his own fault he dived. Shame there's still no technology, would stop this kind of incident.

2-0. Oh dear.

Everton 2 - 1 Sunderland

Don't think there's any meaning behind it. But hopefully it will mean a lot to us Evertonians when we look back to Roberto's reign one day.
Also it sounds brilliant, particularly when sung at stunned Mancs.

That was acceptable, we've seen worse first halves this season. Need to step it up second half and do better in the last third. Mirallas had a couple of good opportunities but his decision making was poor. We look more dangerous than they do when we manage to string a few passes together but that's not saying much. Has Lukaku won a single header?

Everton 3 - 1 Fulham

Not a big fan either. Assuming Barry comes in on a free at the end of the season I'd rather we looked abroad for a youngster with potential.
