  1. reading through all the topics lately (oh, im optimistic at the mo, just so people know) i think that the negativity stands out more because people have more points for being negative, where us optimists cant go in there with a long list of why were optimistic
  2. you would pay 5.5 for a player with not many games under his belt, but then ask what has baines done? well hes hardly gunna win medals at wigan for anyone to be able to answer that! but if richardson is worth 5.5 then baines is worth 6 imo, he has more first team experience and also bring the equivalent qualities that richardson brings. crust - fair comment mate.
  3. fair enough mate. but you have just said yourself, 442 to stop the gunners playing. sounds negative when we have to stop others from playing. id like manny here, but we could only use manny in a 451 imo, if we played 442 with just manny and cahill in the middle we wouldnt be strong enough for me. we have no one with a left foot in our midfield. you need balance in a team. we miss the balance from our midfield. i honestly believe if we just got a good left winger it would totally change how we can attack teams. with me defending 451 im not against 442, im just one who sees 451 as being our biggest strength. i dont understand when people complaion that we play negative boring football. i really enjoyed watchin the blues last year, and i thought we played a lot of good football.
  4. i was convinced i seen my grandad when i was about a kid, i woke up and he was sat on the end of my bed with a poster in his hand (i think it was barry horne or graham stuart, but i had a pile of posters that were ready to go on my wall) he just told me to go back to sleep, so i did what i was told. the next morning one of the posters had moved to where i saw him. over breakfast my dad when white as a sheet when i come out with "saw grandad last nite" and my house is built on an old hospital site, my neighbour is a really old lady, used to be a nurse at the hospital, she thinks our area of the estate was somewhere about the morg. anyway, me, my sister, my dad and my brother in law all think we seen a boy on the landing within a few years of the house being built. my grandma used to tell us he was probably just looking for someone to play with, creeped me out big time when she would say that.
  5. i like this thread! full of happy blues!
  6. we used 451 for most of last season, its got us in europe twice! chelsea won two league titles with 451, they switch to 442. our best option going forward is AJ with cahill in support, he can only play to his best in a 451. i'll be sticking with bills comment about you talking shit! formations dont mean your in a dog fight! you need to take mroe notice of the world of football around you, playing to your strengths is the key! back on topic, a left footed winger
  7. Liam, you may have just saved my life! glad there is still some people here with a sense of realism!
  8. fuck me! after reading this thread i just wanna curl up and die! been a rubbish week in work and you miserable bastards have totally made me worse! will someone do me a favour and kick this bucket from under my feet! i was getting all excited by the friendly on saturday, looking forward to getting back on a terrace, now i just wanna fucking die! thanks TT
  9. Im probably wrong, but im gunna have to question some of these mate. 1. we know kenwright doesnt have the resources to run the club financially or general business like. thats why he brought bully in to run the club. 2. there is a bigger risk with bringing in foreign players, also why they are cheaper imo. a proven player in a proven league will command a premium. 3. i take total issue with this one! why do we have to know everything that goes on? being a bit more honest? wtf! they are a business! we are just customers! the more they tell us about whats going on, the more they tell their competitors! we have no right to know whats goin on! and the people who want to start sacking people because of this really need a better understanding of business! 4. 100% agree with this one, and the time and money invested by wenger on his scouting system! he has had his contacts for a lot longer than moyes remember! it didnt happen over night
  10. the same thing we hear every summer. i'll reserve my judgement for next may
  11. ive got nothin yet mate, and unfortunately, no idea when we'll get them. but if i was to guess id say the end of the month. im gunna predict the 23rd
  12. give the lad credit for defending himself! well done Jamie
  13. i believe interpol said our techniques in tracking previously questioned terrorists were in the dark ages! i find that almost as worrying as the threat itself!
  14. my biggest priority is a left footed midfield player. ideally a winger/wide player. my second is a left back. i honestly believe we can afford to bring in baines and richardson. im not bothered about a striker, i want to see Vaughan pushed on a bit this season, vic beats and faddy can cover when he needs to be rested. and in honesty im a 451 man, so we have enough cover for me edit ive heard good things about nzogbia. but ive never seen him play so i cant really comment
  15. not for me really, im a season ticket holder. i go the match, between us parking costs £1 each (or nothin if we park in the street sometimes) i get a pint when i get in, and maybe a sausage roll. call that £5. programme £3. then off to the pub after the game with the lads. add a quid or two for fuel. call it £10 i spend before i get to the pub (probably about 6 o'clock) season ticket works out about £25 a match. £35. then a game in the pub. if its a 3 o'clock KO then maybe get there for 2ish. thats about 4 hours earlier than if i go to the game. maybe 3/4 pints an hour at £2.50 (rounded up a few pence) at least £25. throw in some pub food (i got to eat, im a hungry lad!) maybe £6 i'll still have someone pick me up a programme £3. £34 im a sad twat, cant believe i just did that!
  16. i always thought everton did their medicals at fairfield private hospital. modern day hospitals will have running facilities anyway, but then again, modern day training grounds have medical facilities too. im hopefull of richardson, for balance at least. alot of my manc friends have been slagging his contribution and attitude. but im happy to take the risk
  17. all we had for the 90's was the short term option, for me long term is the only option. like ive said previous, id rather spend £6m on a player for maybe 10 years in a blue shirt, than £2m on a player for a few years
  18. imo baines is good enough now, not just for the future! if we got him for £5-6m, and he plays regular football for 5-6 years then i think that will be good value. but we can more realistically have him playing for closer to 10 years (injuries and loss of form aside) quedrue is a quality player, and at £2m its a good price. but id rather solve a problem we've had for a while, on a long term scale, and pay the extra money for it. DM said last year he hopes to add a few higher quality players every summer. with Lescott, Johnson, Cahill, Arteta, Howard. these are players that will not need replacing for maybe 5 years. Baines could be added to that list
  19. im sort of with craccer on the ossie subject. he does have his good games, he does have a nice control on him, and can sometimes pick a good pass. but he is far too inconsistent, he is a useful member of the squad, but imo he is our weakest link in the midfield. if we could get a player with a left foot he would be the first one out of our midfield, and is the easiest to replace. i wont critisise his commitment, and he genuinely is a hard worker, i just think his weaknesses far outweigh his strengths
  20. usefull contribution i see! that rumour will be total rubbish. and moyes wont sell his captain, hes too important to the team
  21. he could also turn out like zola???
  22. he scored something like 8 or 9 in open play for palace in the prem and was it 12 in open play for us? i think he only had one penalty, watford when they were booing him. i hope hes on pens nest season, just to put him further up the scoring charts. id be happy with matty taylor thou!
