Just watching the news this morning and the sports bit had a piece on Everton at Nürnberg....had (momentarily...not a morning person :sleeping_03anim: :shiftyeyes_anim: ) forgotten we were playing today. Struck me how brilliant it is to be playing so often, sensory overload , been a long time since the games came this thick and fast. Loving it!
  2. It's a big point apparently that they're using only 20% of the steel that Beijing using are for theirs, reducing the "carbon footprint" (Chicago are copying the idea for their 2016 bid), and 50,000 plus seats will be taken down afterwards. Will continue as an athletics arena and any football/rugby association will be announced next year. It'll be too small for the Premier league though (that Telegraph link's eighteen months old Louis).

Their coach (Hans Meyer) is having a go at some reverse psychology by the look of it... Pressure is mounting on the charismatic veteran coach, who believes Everton are "playing in a different league". He said: "Everton have a very strong side and they are in great shape. "We will not watch them too much on tape because we already have a lot of respect for them. We'll speak about their strengths as they don't have any weaknesses. "I know for a fact that we would not finish fifth or sixth in the Premier League even if we were injury-free all season long. "The financial difference is huge. They have already had a good team and then invested 25 million Euros - do they already have Euros in England? "It's like Bayern Munich and us - there is a huge difference but that does not mean we are unable to beat them on a certain day." Meyer will again be without Greek international Angelos Charisteas, who is nursing an ankle injury, as well as long-time injury victim Robert Vittek (knee). Javier Pinola (shinbone) and Lars Jacobsen (groin) will also be missing. Meyer is hoping to turn an ill-faded season around with a win on Thursday. "I hope we finally get a much-needed victory," he stated. "If eight of 11 players don't play to their abilities we will not have a chance. Everton are very strong - both individually and as a team. "We need to raise our games to keep up with them. It will be a good experience for us."
  4. For the life of me I can't imagine how you take an 80,000 seater £5/600,000,000 athletics stadium and reduce it to a 25,000 capacity football ground. What do you do, knock half of it down? Either that or the people at the back are gonna be half a mile from the pitch. Absurd. (Livingston in Scotland, when they were called Meadowbank, played in the stadium built for the Commonwealth games in Edinburgh and that was daft enough, three men and a dog in a huge arena)
  5. Is it just me or does it look like a cereal bowl?
  6. If he doesn't get a game in December then he never will.....da Silva played last night as well.
  7. Bloody hell you try and raise the tone....introduce a bit of culture and what thanks do you get !?!? Mac'll be back soon talking about sheds and large breasted women and then you'll all be happy I suppose! (I know I will ) And I can't fucking sleep now. Bollocks.
  8. Davey's a bit of a God botherer himself I believe....and Pienaar crosses himself I think. They must not be praying hard enough !
  9. Just a bit of fun....took me thirty seconds to post. You seem to have spent a little longer. The very best of luck in your next two games :sleeping_02: .
  10. Played the last couple of reserve games...tonight.. Within 30 seconds of the game starting the Blues had a penalty claim waved away by the referee Metcalfe. Andy van der Meyde’s teasing cross looked to have been handled in the area by Newcastle left-back Alex Patterson - despite furious claims the appeal went unnoticed.... ...Sustained pressure on the Magpies goal followed with a neat one two between van der Meyde and Vidarsson with the latter forcing Fraser into a smart save from six yards out. You wanna be more like Licker and keep believing he's gonna set Goodison alight and get recalled for the Dutch squad .
  11. Probably for the best Mark . At least Porto beat Marseilles to keep the possibility of non-qualification alive (but I promise not to think about it).
  12. Having a browse through some of the threads I missed while I was away and found this. I was in Greece just after they won the Euro Champs and bought a (copy...but a good one) Greece shirt with Charisteas on the back....souvenier. It'll stay in the wardrobe this week .

You're right Craccer, could have got 12-1 if you'd shopped around..LINK...missed out on £90 if you win .
  14. As do 90% of Americans, makes me nauseous :sick01: . Hamilton actually claimed to have God in the car with him....surely having a co-driver is against the rules How very British, let's all vote for the plucky loser. Three facts (well...two facts and an opinion).... Hamilton will win. One of the boxers should win. I'll vote for Jimmy .
  15. Love is in the air....or is it drugs ? (never return once lit....it may go off in your face )
  16. I quite enjoyed twelve, it got savaged by the critics and there's a completely ridiculous bit where the Julia Roberts character pretends to be the real Julia Roberts so Bruce Willis (playing himself) doesn't screw the scam (clear ?) but it wasn't all that bad.
  17. That's probably the saddest thing I've ever read Craccer.....I'm welling up here :crying_anim: !
  18. Dixie your mother's Godfather ....how cool is that? Makes you very nearly Blue royalty mate! If you're not an Evertonian then you've made a truly tragic mistake somewhere in a previous life .
  19. Doubted Pienaar, delighted to be proved wrong and I hope he keeps stuffing it back down my throat for many years to come .
  20. Feel free to join in Craccer...it's a healing process .
  21. I'd rather Hamilton didn't win it personally, he's phenomenal and has had far and away the best début season by any F1 driver ever....but he did make mistakes that cost him the championship. Also no sportsman who thanks God in interviews should ever win anything in my book. It's so fucking annoying. Paula Ratcliffe put herself in the running yesterday but (even though I'm not a big boxing fan) I think Hatton or Calzaghe deserve it. Will certainly vote for McFadden though....as many times as I can .
  22. Ah Rotterdam...special place for Evertonians, even if (like me) you only saw it on the TV. Welkom Nik!
  23. Like this... vEc4YWICeXk ....and a more cultured version. Clever stuff. nUDIoN-_Hxs
  24. Slander! Here's the thread..(link)..and I said nothing about it (never even seen it). You'll be hearing from my "no win no fee" lawyers in the morning Louis . What's Oceans 13 like? Anyone?
