Wages would have a massive part to play on what i said. I reckon we're going to have to start paying out players a bit more anyway so if Owen were to take a drop in wages then i stand by my comment.
What does he get at Newcastle currently?
However if there is a striker out there who we can get for 8 million with a goal scoring record like Owens then i'm all for that too.
To be honest i'm open to looking at anyone at the moment!!!!! What about that Beattie lad from Shef United? :confused02:
But AJ's shit. Sell him for 12, get Owen in for 7 or 8, 4 or 5 million left over to go towards the other positions that need filling (right back, central/defensive midfield).
Vaughan, Yak, Owen, Anichebe sounds alright to me.
I think at the right price he could be a good signing but i don't see him as a first choice centre mid so would he leave united for the possibility of not being first choice with Everton? I don't think so.
I can't help but get a little frustrated with and worried about the whole situation.
I know there's still plenty of time but it just gets to me that we have to wait until 23:45 on the final day of the transfer deadline.
we'd also need a big bag of russain money to be vying for players of that calibre and age.
I'd like to see him come here but we'd still need a replacement for carsley as well, someone who will run their tits off as i imagine Aimar isn't one for tracking back and doing his defensive bit!
I can't see him improving, infact he's detiorated if anything since his first loan spell.
A loan sounds good to me, give him chance to try and get back to the quality he showed in that first stint of performances and then snap him up in January (if we can).
There's quite a bit on some forums talking about Newcastle for about £7 million and the reason they are selling is because his wages are astronomical and they can't afford it know they have been relegated.
Just been watching some old clips from You Tube and if the lad can still produce anywhere near he's got to be worth a punt!
But saying that why is only the like of Panathanikos who's interested? Suggests he's not.
Also only started about 15 games for Zaragoza last season.
2 of those Championship players have been our best players over the past few seasons ... Lescott/Cahill. Don't undersestimate the usefulness of bringing these types of players in. I'd love to see the likes of Arshavin coming here but you've got to be realistic mate.
I was the first to say lets not worry, the board will come up with the goods and we'll have about 20/30 million to spend ....... blind optimism!
After reading that article i wish i'd have worn brown trousers today.

and few others, it's on news now a couple of times.
Could be good news if the price drops a wee bit more as it doesn't seem that anyone else is vying for his signature.
I agree about his attitude and work rate but at the end of the day he's just not very good.
But i also agree that he's better than no one so unless the money will be spent on a another 'proven' striker then he should stay.
