  1. In the forum on Matchdays I reckoned that Bill has areal opportunity here to solve many problems at once. Man up and sack Moyes now and the team has the rest of this season with a new manager to get sorted out, bring the younger players up to speed, instil some guts, determination and tactics into the squad for little outlay. As MikeO has said, Moyes is at the end of his contract so there is little to pay out. This season has gone already and we won't be relegated so what's the harm in getting a fresh start now while there is time? Blood the younger players, give them their opportunity while there is little harm if they don't win......FFS they won't be crying gutless pricks like Fellaini at the very least! Sell Fellaini in the summer and get in hungry players who want to play here....midfielders who want to play, not mercenary pricks who play for the money then whinge when things don't go their way. If Moyes was half a manager he'd resign, if Bill was half a chairman he'd sack him. Man up Bill. Do it. You know you have to for the good of the club. Stand by for the tirade of "what'll we do without Moyes?", "who'll replace him?", "he just needs to change a few things", "the sky is falling, the sky is falling".
  2. Has the word 'obstuction' been removed from the laws of the game? From my old refereeing days (long gone I'm afraid) an indirect free kick was awarded against a player who either accidentally or deliberately prevented an opposing player from playing the ball. Now, crowding the goalkeeper with the deliberate intention of not allowing him to play the ball MUST be deemed as obstruction. I really can't see why referees have any qualms about awarding a free kick. The monthly meetings of the referees panel must surely be discussing this, or they already have and decided that crowding the goalkeeper is OK. For what reason is best known only to themselves.......the Laws of the game are not to be re-interpreted, they are there to be adhered to or they are to be changed in the correct manner via FIFA. 'Nuff said!
  3. Oh dear, oh dear, oh fucking dear! Emarassment? too bloody right. But what an opportunity.....if Moyes was half a manager, he'd resign after that display. If Bill was half a decent chairman, he'd sack the fucker. Look, we're far enough along now that we won't be relegated and the Cup's gone, nothing left to fight for. Bill, man up and bite the bullet. Get a new manager in pronto, he'll have the rest of this season to get it together. If it means no Europa League next season, so be it....it's not like we're used to it! Use the up and coming young players for the rest of the season, get them blooded so they can start next season with some Prem experience under their belts. I don't care if they lose every game, at least we'll go down fighting not with a whimper. Sell Fellaini (his value must have plummeted after this display though) and buy a decent midfield. I remember many years ago the manager (can't remember who now....Catterick or the taximan Johnny Carey) and the chairman were pelted with seat cushions by fans when seated in the stand. Poor performances evoked poor responses. I'm not in any way advocating this, but surely to god both Moyes and Kenright must be able to see that something here is very, very wrong? Man up Bill, do it for the club. We need a fresh start for next season.....time to appoint a new manager. I think it's our only way out of this mess.
  4. Mucha hasn't had many opportunities to shine at Goodison, here's his big opportunity. Remember, he's been in the top squad since his arrival and trains with the squad so it's not like he and the defence never play together. He may well rise to the occasion as many in his situation do. What he don't need is naysayers condemning the guy before perhaps the club's biggest game of the past couple of seasons. He needs confidence and let's face it he has to at least be better than Howard at controlling the 6-yard box and getting up for crosses....we all know that Howard can't do either. C'mon Jan me boy, show 'em what you can do! COYB!
  5. I've been saying the same thing all season.....good to be right once in a while , providing what was said is true.....no reason to disbelieve it but I'm a amazed at what analysis and recordings are being kept. I salute them. In the same breath you have to reckon that Moyes gets similar or superior analysis also but has done nothing to change the situation. Why?
  6. Absolutely right. Our history of wrecking the careers of stikers is unmatched. Can't remember the last one that scored more than 15 in a season.....Looked it up, it was Kanchelskis in 1995-96 with 16. After that it's Yakubu in 2007-08 with 15, the rest are just into double figures! The last real goalscorer was Lineker in 1985-86 with 30. Many were so promising... Saha, Johnson, Beattie etc who left Goodison as Blueherts says,"as broken men". Not a good record. Nothing wrong with the players, it's the way they were played.
  7. You really don't get it do you? My post was not about history, 'a Latin motto' or breaking into the top four or getting into Europe. The post was not about not winning anything. It's about a team bought, coached and tactically prepared by the same manager for a decade without improvement in the last 8 years. The team have this season underperformed as never before and appear to be totally at a loss as to how to change things. It's also about a manager who if he was at another club would have been sacked at least 3 years ago. It's about Moyes apologists who believe things will get better/change etc. In essence the post is about crap tactics, lack of will to win and lousy team selection. Did you actually read the post before you picked one line to have a go at? Many on here lauded the team at season's start as the best we've had for years.....a real opportunity this season. We discussed the players and their merits and how good the team is on paper and how much better we are off than this time last year etc. etc. Yet the team is playing as if they've only just met, without flair, passion or teamwork. Furthermore, EFC are without doubt the most boring team to watch in the Prem. God, it hurts me to say all this as I've supported this club before many of your fathers were born. It's not about winning, it's about effort and pride and willingness to do the damned best you can without billionaire backers. It's about getting a manager to instill these beliefs into a team who are underperforming to the point of insulting their fans. It's about being competitive at least against the teams in a similar financial position, and we are quite obviously not. It's about needing fresh ideas, not re-hashing old ones. It's about getting someone else in to do it! Wake up and smell the coffe boys!
  8. What in fact do the Moyes apologists have to say? Is it: 1. We're happy at the way things are going/have gone to date and we want more of it 2. It's not been so good - but it will get better with the red-haired one in charge 3. It's not Moyes' fault, it's Bill's fault for not giving him more money NSNO, that's the club motto. Not 'we're better off than many others'. This is Everton Football Club FFS! Get some pride you Moyes lovers. The team we, at the start of the season were lauding as the best we've had for years and who will take us into Europe next season is still the same one who was humbled by Norwich and by many others of late. Let me go on record right now: this season is not going to get any better unless major changes are made to strategy, team selection and the will to win. I watched the Newcastle v Soton game and was enthralled by both teams' devotion to winning, their speed and creativity. It made us look slow, tired and clueless by comparison: and these are teams in 16th and 15th places respectively! All this is down to Moyes. He bought the players, he coaches the players, he picks the team. There are NO other people to blame. The players are playing to Moyes' tactics - why the f... is Jelavic playing on the left wing at times, putting in crosses? He is getting shit service. Is there nobody capable of taking on the defence in their own area? Our build up is as slow as a wet week in Blackpool, predictable in that we're trying to score with headers....nobody running at the defence and the opposition know that. The corner taking is worse than in some under- 12's I've coached. No variation....short one to the near post where we don't have anyone (if it gets there at all). The Moyes brigade are frightened of the future....who will be the manager?.....what will happen to us?.....the sky is falling, the sky is falling. Get a grip! Moyes' record speaks for itself.....we're going no further with him in charge. He's reached the limit of his capabilities....nothing wrong with that, we all have limits, but to be taking 3 mill a year for it is rather different. Do the Moyes brigade really think that there's nobody better out there? Come into the light, there's a whole world beyond your blinkers if only you'd look further than the end of your noses.
  9. Nothing, I agree. But then their club's motto isn't Nil Satis Nisi Optimum!
  10. This is of course the fallacy in the argument. If you gave a point for every finish in the Prem since it's inception (ie 20pts for 1st place down to 1pt for 20th) we'd still be 7th. The fallacy is that the table given is really only an indication that the longer you are in the Prem the higher you'll be. In fact we are the 7th most successful club in the Prem because we are the worst performers of all those that havn't been relegated. End of story!
  11. I think that says it all really. Thanks Moyesey for getting us out of the shit but now we want to get the shit off our boots and start climbing the ladder to get out of the hole! Unfortunately I don't think you have the knowledge to do it, otherwise it would have been blindingly obvious by now. What is obvious is that we have hardly progressed at all in the last 8/9 years, still playing the same old football that has become so predictable that Oldham gave us cause for concern and the Prem teams know how to hold us off because we have no teeth up front and a defence that appears to be asleep for the first and last few minutes of every game we play. Sorry to keep having to say this, but 'I told you so'. For years I've been saying 'If we don't do something about this now, we'll still be talking about it this time next season........and we still are! Please Moyesey give us a break and find somewhere else.......soon. I guarantee if we don't win the cup, he'll be gone in a twinkle anyway!
  12. Go on then, I'll play your silly game. Why is this a thread?
  13. I hope then that the ref will be as kind to us as he was to them at Boundary Park. I think not.
  14. Judging by the hard looks and the rolling eyes from other team members at times, I don't think it's working Davey Boy!
  15. Can anyone give me one good, solid reason why Neville still starts in the team? Forget the true professional, good reliable old soldier,' valuable on his day' crap and tell me why he is in the team NOW. Phil is at best a passenger, in some cases a liability especially when he chooses the sideways or backpass options instead of going forward. His 5 yard passes are perfect (so are mine), but after that........And he doesn't tackle! And what's with the 'floating' crosses? Get some pace on the ball to at least give the forwards some momentum on the header that they don't have to generate themselves every time. And get the cross to the penalty spot at least. A 'floater' to the edge of the box is oppostion meat and drink as is so often proved. Someone said eons ago that Neville must be Moyes' love-child to be able to get in the side...and here we are all still wondering every week how it happens. Can any Neville-ites go into bat for him and deny any of the above?
  16. FFS! We lost to a lower grade side that had nothing to lose. Get over it. The Duffy inclusion was good tactics whether it be positional or just to waste time...it was still a viable option at the time. We were under a lot of pressure at the end but didn't make it easier on ourselves by just hoofing it out. We're supposed to be better than that! Timmy made a few great saves that kept us in the game but ultimately it was his lack of judgement that led to the Oldham equaliser. Yes, I know you'll say he was impeded but please don't tell me that Swartzer or Cech couldn't have done better......because they would have! We drew against a team we should have beaten, but that's the whole Everton story isn't it? Promise so much and deliver so little on the day
  17. Great player....would be an advantage to any team. But is the man the right one? Too much of a troublemaker for my liking. However, we won't need to worry too much because we couldn't stump up the wages. He'll go to where the money is....too obvious for words.
  18. Absolutely correct. What ball he does get is out on the wings where he's going to look for it himself, or scraps from goalmouth meles. Nothing constructive for him to get a hold of. Maybe Mirallas can do the job and feed him some good ball.
  19. Just seen that Avin's online....it's 4am there, (I think)... maybe you should get a life buddy, or is it that you're sleepless worrying about the weekend?
  20. Yes it is, but why do we struggle so badly to get any other result than a draw? We murdered Villa last week but still couldn't get 3 points. The tale of woe versus 'lower' teams is so prominent it's become predictable. Even when we do win we just scrape a result. We have dominated so many games this season....more so than in any other I can remember and we are 'struggling' to get results. Yes, I know that there are 15 other Prem teams that would love to be as badly off as we are, but there are 4 others above us who are more than happy about our situation. I've been watching football for nigh on 60 years and I can't figure out how we are not at least 10 points better off than we are. On paper, the defence is doing well as our 'goals against' column testifies. We're not doing too badly in 'goals for' either, yet draws seem to be the order of the day. Why? No predictions from me for this game...I've proved that I'm as crap as everyone else in this regard.....but I do have a good feeling about this one. Shit!.....there's the game gone!
  21. You have inside info...or just a guess? Whatever.......I think Moyes' teamsheet is based on his version of trust, misguided though it may be. Why on earth would any sane person pick Neville over Hitz or Coleman? Moyes think......'he's played for us for years, he must be good!' Please God,let Moyes see the light and bench him. I noticed too last week that Mirallas (I think) wanted to take a quick throw in in the last few minutes when we were on top and really pressing. Neville wanted to take it, so Mirallas had to wait till Neville ambled up, took the ball, fannied around for 10 seconds and then threw it in gently. Even on TV in Oz Mirallas' face showed what he thought of the situation. It may be that some players are as pissed off as we are. On topic....a 3-1 win to the good guys. Sorry no clean sheet again!
  22. Avin, seldom do I see eye to eye with your comments. But I take my hat off to you here (pissing in pocket...), you've got it absolutely right. Great squad player, cost f-all, great worker and can score. He would score more given the opportunity to play in a more effective role than covering when Ossie or Felli are having an off day.
  23. I've been aching to answer this thread, but as the man said 'a duplicate thread'. Many of my posts on the subject have said the same thing in essence.....if we don't fix it now, we'll still be talking about this next season. And we were and we still are! Deja vu all over again!
  24. Lot of good constructive stuff on this subject. Go away you 'Jelly's crap' people. Players just don't turn crap overnight you titheads. This is all about lack of service and the fact that Fellaini plays too far forward attracting high balls from defenders who often have no other option because the midfielders are hiding. Watch how many times a midfielder will not move into a space where the ball-carrier can see him. Defenders then hoof it and midfielders who have the ball are forced into holding it too long and running into trouble (ie Naismith, Peanuts and Osman). Fellaini won't work enough except for himself and since about October has done f-all because he is so tightly marked......a one-trick pony! Did we miss him when he was banned? Arguably we played the best football of the season at that time. Moyes must get midfield to play for the team and move around FFS. Get midfield up the park doing what they are supposed to do, give the ball-carrier options and allow the forwards to get some ball. And allow Jelly and Anichebe to be poachers and/or goalscorers and not have to run their arses off (a la Moyes' workhorses) out on the wings to get a touch of the ball!
  25. Honestly, I think Moyes is thinking, "I've has 10 years here with an 8/10 and not likely to get better". If he gets us to CL, I think he'll stay...if not he has to move on, just for his own peace of mind (ie "can I do more elsewhere?") I voted neutral on the subject, last season I would have voted for him to go. I've mellowed a little and Moyes has learned a little, but not enough for both of us to be ever truely happy .
