  1. We've always been slow starters. I've no idea why, but it may be pertinent that we havn't had too many on the field so far that were not part of the Moyes era. This slow starting could be his legacy so to speak, but it's up to Bobby however to knock this out of them. I can't help feeling that the season seemed far away for the players in June/July and they were not really into the whole thing until Bobby came back from Brazil to find that while he was way fukc-all had happened and there was a real hurry-up to organise pre-season games and instil a feeling of get up and go in the playing staff. I guess we'll never know but I guarantee that this will be the last time it happens. Don't forget Bobby's learning too here. A sign of the times however......3 or 4 years ago we would have been chuffed at getting a point out of the Arse. Now we're on the warpath because we dropped 2 points!
  2. They weren't much of a threat going forward today and the defence was woeful. Lambert was like a deer caught in headlights when he came on. He was involved in their goal in a non-constructive way (O.G. by the way) and missed a relatively easy chance when it would have been easier to score. Stevie G. was nowhere near the force he has been and today was little more than a squad player going through the motions.

We had a distinct lack of will to win in the last 30mins. I watched the clock and at 60mins thought 'how long till we screw up?' Bugger me till Christmas at 70 mins we were a different team. I don't think personally that it's all lack of fitness either, there was a total lack of intensity. We weren't closing them down at all as we did first half, giving them too much room and the backs were playing in another game somewhere....they certainly weren't playing at Goodison. To me Jags has never been the same since his injury last season and is performing far below what he has done in the past. At times yesterday he looked totally out of his depth. Distin, while still a great player is looking down the barrel at the end of his career. A performance like yesterday's can only hasten it. Well off the pace. Coleman was certainly not at his best and I feel another week on the bench may have been better for him. He was sluggish and out of touch sometimes. Baines was Baines. As someone said earlier, Bobby should get the boys together with a psychologist this week to sort out what the fcuk they are thinking of when they are two goals up, playing like they'll win the League only to let two goals in in 10mins? We've scored 4 goals in two games...not bad. We've conceded 4 goals in two games. Most Everton teams from the past would be saying...'what the?'
  4. Have to wonder, are we clutching at straws here? WTF is so exciting about a money-grabbing, half-arsed, 'I'll try hard today...oh no that was last game' player who doesn't know (or can't remember) how old he is? He never really caught the eye at Chelsea and was never on the pace at all. I think he was too old last year and hasn't got any younger (or maybe he thinks he has!). Gotta be other options!

We're gonna have to up our game to get anything out of this match. We are traditionally slow starters (why?)and it showed against Leicester especially second half. We had a crap pre-season against crap opponents and I don't think we are really ready to play against the big boys when we are only half fit and a yard off pace. I hate to say it but I don't think the boys wanted to play after about 10mins into the second half. Need a major uplift in the psych dept methinks. I can't understand why Martinez had planned (?)such a low-key pre-season knowing we've got 2 of the top teams to play in the first 3 games of the season. Yeah, I know....trust in Bobby.....but it does make me think. Either a 0-1 loss or 2-1 to us depending on which Everton team turns up....the psyched up one or the one that played against Leicester.
  6. TBH I couldn't believe our luck when he went. I don't think he was ever a good player consistently.....just flashes really. Moyes brought him to Goodison and took him to Utd for more than he paid for him originally! Great business for us and an insight into Moyes' short-sightedness and fixation complex.....can't change....no plan B.
  7. Not too many of those around these days unfortunately. Mercenary bastards! Good luck to the guy. He chose to retire while still in demand and he also introduced many USA fans to support Everton. Have a good retirement.
  8. Timmy's deal with nbc can only increase EFC's profile in the USofA. Can't really understand though why we're not touring USA this off-season, at least half of the EPL are over there in one tournament or another. Maybe we weren't invited because we had the temerity to try to win in the last tournament over there and had to be bundled out by refereeing cock-ups and/or deliberate mistakes.
  9. Yes. Look at the bigger picture here. Without actually saying so, the board/chairman/manager are outlining the fact that we are here and are no longer a 'selling club' that has to farm off it's best players to survive. In other words we have changed our whole perspective in the way we approach club finances and the purchase of new players. Get used to it people, this is the new Everton! COYB
  10. Roberto's walking a tightrope here. He wants to wait to see if Lukaku's coming (or wants to come)but on the other hand he won't want to let onto Lukaku that the club revolves around him. He can't pursue other strikers, then keep them on hold while he waits for Lukaku as they then will feel like make-does and never perform well. He has to have fall back date that effectively says 'Lukaku, come now or piss off". While I can see he wants Lukaku, he also must know that it's to be on our terms and that Lukaku needs to know that we won't wait for ever. If Lukaku's not careful he'll end up a permanent bench-warmer at Chelsea. After all this to'ing and fro'ing he may find it more difficult to get any decent club to sign him as they won't be bothered with hassle. But then I suppose there's always Spurs and Newcastle.
  11. As I said this one involves a Liverpool player.
  12. Correct...deffo a penalty. If the attacker had scored, the goal should stand and the game restarted from the centre circle.
  13. Thought I'd reinstate this on from a wee while back as nobody answered. Could be of course that nobody's interested. Boo hoo
  14. 1. Definitely a goal. If the ball was fully inflated when the kick was taken the subsequent hitting of the post is immaterial. 2. Yes. It's a non-competitive match and therefore has no set rules other than the the rules of the game. 3. The rules state only that fouls are committed against opponents. However, playing in a reckless manner even if it does not result in a foul is punishable by an indirect free kick to the opposing team from where the offence occurred and a caution to the offending player
  15. I guess it's because Rom ain't coming. If he's stated he wants CL football, we're out of the picture for at least another season We all need to get a grip here. Roberto knows what he's doing. He hasn't let us down yet....not going to start now. Don't forget also that we need more squad players than previously because of our European commitments. A few low price but OK players are needed too.
  16. Ha ha, good one. But not the one I'm thinking of. This involves a Liverpool player from the 60's.
  17. Thought I'd kick off with this one from around 1960 There was a young lady from Moreton Who had a long tit and a short'n Not only that, she had a triangular twat And a fart like a 500 Norton!
  18. I agree with 1/ and 3/. 2/ however is not a bookable offence unless the infraction was meant to deceive, in which case it becomes 'ungentlemanly conduct'. However it would never get to this point in a properly managed game as the infringement would have been picked up at the referee's pre-match kit inspection.
  19. OK, no takers for the cricket question.....remember these are not necessarily real answers. How about this football one: Who scored from a position farthest way from the goal? In other words, who holds the record for scoring from the farthest distance? By the way, the cricket answer is Miandad, (me an' Dad) Javed Miandad played for Pakistan from mid 70's to early 90's for those who don't know the name.
  20. No takers for this one then? Must be too hard.
  21. Let's not get into some sort of a conspiracy theory here. Money isn't going missing, some of it's allocated to retiring debt, some to ground upkeep, a shit-load to players wages and the rest to buying new players. It has to be that way or we'll do a Leeds or Portsmouth, or we'll have a better team playing in a ramshackle barn and can't afford to pay them. It's akin to buying a flash new car that's the envy of the street but having nowhere to park it because you didn't pay the house mortgage in order to pay for it. It's all about priorities. Everton's is getting the finances in order to enable us to go forward in the future....other clubs' priorities are to sell the farm for short term gain and hope it works out OK. I know which side I'm on! Remember too that we were 'The Merseyside Millionaires' at one time and had a great team. Can't begrudge Chelsea and City too much. We'd be in raptures too if we found a man with a magic wand. Although I like to think we'd be a little more magnanimous about it.
  22. This is a wind-up. The bloke is 36 already and hasn't been any good for at least 10 years. Spent 2 years here in oz, was injured for 6 months and was crap for 18 months. IMHO was never really any good anyway, played for England 62 times and was pretty useless in all of them. A real indication of everything that is/was wrong with English football.
  23. Ha ha, made me laugh Cornish. You sound like Little Johnny with his hand up in class, 'pick me, pick me miss!'
  24. There's a good cricket related one too. Q. Who are the only father and son ever to play for their country in the same game? If you get this one you are really clever and a little anal too!
