I personally think we are OK at CB for one more season with the likes of Jags, Distin, Stones, Alcaraz and Duffy. However I do agree with Dier. If what Spurs are reportedly paying with 4 million then that would be a bargain. Don't think Spurs would let Holtby go out on loan to another premier league rival. If we get Atsu from Chelsea and Traore I will be a lot happier, with Kone and Gibson becoming fit again looks like a totally different squad. Also Oviedo coming back from injury soon and he looked good on the left!

I am glad that Barkley has signed a new contract, shows Martinez wants to tie down our players. Nowadays though contracts don't mean anything. All it means is that they might stay another season then go for more money. Suarez signed a contract in November now he has gone, Arteta signed a new 4 year contract and he went to Arsenal. Didn't Fellaini also do the same? Might be wrong there though .

I agree 27 million is a bit steep for Lukaku but saying that you know what you are getting, a striker who scores 10+ goals a season. If we get Lukaku and Traore on loan then the strike force doesn't look to bad. Kone will do a job for us as well I reckon, if he can stay fit!

I think Ross spoke well of the club, he is nervous but he spoke highly of the club, the players and the manager/staff. If you're nervous and get asked a question so what influence did the manager have on you signing a new contract. Barkley spoke highly of him and they said yeah everybody says that but what do you really think. Give the kid a break, he is up and coming and a lot of top clubs were interested. It is GREAT news that he has signed a new contract!

Southampton have made some money in this transfer window but Southampton fans must be raging. Unless they make big signings then they are definitely doing to struggle next season. I feel sorry for them. I would be gutted if teams stripped us of our players.

Lukaku is good enough for Chelsea though......A player who has had 2 full seasons in the premier league to score 19 and 15 goals is a good return. At Chelsea he will be getting better deliveries from the likes of Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Fabregas but for some reason Jose won't give him a chance. Maybe he doesn't fit into Chelsea's defending style of play.

If Ramsey can stay fit and hit the form he was in last year then Arsenal could be competing. Defense is strong enough for me. If all their players can stay fit then why can't they get 1st?

I see this as a good transfer. If anything it adds competition to McCarthy, Barry and even Gibson. It will hardly "de-thrown" them all. He can also play as a CB does that mean it "de-throwns" Stones progress as well?

Like everyone else has said I don't think we need a LB in this transfer window. Baines, Oviedo and Garbutt and if need be Distin has played on the left before.

I will be happy if we sign 3-4 players even if they are youngsters!

I have been hearing 48 hours since the transfer window opened! Martinez is playing his cards close to his chest to see what other teams are doing with the Lukaku situation.

Sometimes that is a curve ball though to make the player sound better than he is. Good example of this is Bebe, supposedly Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter were all interested in the "next best thing" and then he went to United to find out that actually he can't cut it in the EPL.

Just hope he isn't another Gueye or Silva. Bigged up to be the next big thing but never reaches his full potential.

When Ross Barkley was at Sheffield Wednesday weren't they scraping the barrel and narrowly avoided relegation? I think it will do him better to be honest, it makes you try harder. No team wants to get relegated.

Don't know a lot about the player but hopefully he will be a hidden gem. Do we need another defensive midfielder though? He wouldn't come to Everton if he wasn't guaranteed first team football. Signing Barry on a three year deal and the McCarthy link up it would be difficult. Plus the fact that Gibbo is fit again.

Carlos Sanchez can play as a CB as well. Maybe Martinez is going to sign him on the cheap for backup as last year we had injuries to both Jags/Distin and it left a burden on Stones and Alcaraz to do the job. Alcaraz looked a bit shaky at times and maybe Martinez knows we need to strengthen that area.

All depends who we get in the transfer window. Signing Barry on a permanent deal is helpful. It is going to be harder this year as not only do you have Spurs to deal with you also have United who have spent a fair bit of money. If Gibbo and Kone become fit then it will be like having 2 new signings. Kone is a good player and if he can stay fit then he is going to score goals. Everton need a winger also somebody who can take on players. I realize we have McGeady, Mirallas, Pienaar and if need be Naismith can drop on the wing. (Even though it isn't his preffered place) but we need a pacy, skillful winger. It is a shame we couldn't of got Gerry for another year! Anyway back on topic, the way we played last year was great. We aren't going to drop that style even with different players. Top 6 finish!
