  1. Get in there! I have always wanted to sign unknown. ;-)
  2. I always liked Duffy, he never complained about being on the bench. Played well for Yeovill as well, good luck to him on his new adventure!
  3. http://www.evertonpodcast.com/2014/09/01/cleverley-ready-to-snub-everton/? If he does "snub" Everton it will be because Roy Keane.
  4. Drop Jags ahead of Distin. Since the WC he has lost all pace. He looks shakey now for some reason. Distin is more reliable in defence.
  5. Couldn't see him being put on the left. You need a pacey player to be on the wings. He would probably be put in a similar role to what Barkley/Naismith is playing at the moment. Behind the striker. Oviedo when fit will be backup for the left wing.
  6. I don't think we are using a different tactic to last season. Just our defending has been poor that's all. We are still passing the ball well along the ground and getting forward. What annoys me though is that Distin is cool on the ball and looks for the wide players or a player in space and passes it along the ground. Jagielka gets the ball and he still hoofs it up field and then leaves us having to defend again as the opposition are on the counter. Not sure if he has been told to do that or not but all the other defenders don't panic. Against Leicester and Arsenal we played well. Caught them on the counter attack and looked the better team but tiredness kicked in and we conceded late goals in both games. Maybe when we were leading 2-0 against Arsenal he should have put Stones or Besic on and told them to defend and not go forward. Against Arsenal Martinez told Atsu and McGeady to stay up top and wait for the counter. This left us open on the wings and this is why we lost the points (also tiredness). Coleman and Baines were still tracking back but we needed our midfielders to be doing the same. Chelsea was a completely different situation entirely. We didn't do enough closing down on the players and defended poorly. I was screaming at the tele to close them down don't give them space, shut Fabregas out of the game, we didn't, we let them have room and create space which left our defence open. Jags had a poor game and Distin had to do a lot of tracking back. Left players onside which isn't his fault either. Matic goal was a good example of not closing down, he had the ball on the edge of the box, had a touch, noticed nobody was coming towards him, shot and scored. Costa's first goal was poor defending, don't know how Fabregas had that much space to pass the ball. Can't blame Besic for the last goal, he had the ball, back heeled it and it didn't work out. He will learn from that though. Look at how Chelsea played as well they were closing down our players at every opportunity and at times we struggled to get out of our own half. We tried and tried to create space but with Chelsea closing down our players like they did we couldn't cope. Chelsea players looked like they never tire either, they're machines! Overall I think the tactic is working but conceding 10 goals in 3 games isn't a good statistic to look at, but again this is tiredness and overall being sloppy. Let's hope the break will do the players good and come back refreshed. I know they have internationals but let's hope it does them all good.
  7. I think this would be a good signing, he is only 26 years old and played really well against City on Saturday.
  8. I think he would play well for Valencia. The game is slower over there and as he said, his way of play would suit la liga. I do think Cleverley is a good player and would like him at Everton, maybe not for 8 million though.
  9. That has to be the hardest group in the competition. Spurs have an easy group, only real tough opponents are Besiktas!
  10. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/roberto-martinez-to-treat-everton-in-europa-league-as-an-interesting-experiment-9697215.html Does this mean that the youngsters are going to get a shot? Don't like the word interesting experiment though. Only time will tell I guess
  11. The more I think of Eto'o at Everton the more I like it! In two seasons we have gone from Jelavic & Anichebe to Lukaku & Eto'o. I decided to look at some of the goals from last season at Chelsea. He is still tidy on his feet and knows where the back of the net is. He is in the right place at the right time. He will score goals like Sturridge did on the 1st day of the season vs Southampton. Right place right time but is also great on the ball. I am really looking forward to seeing him play now and seeing what he can do in an Everton shirt!!
  12. They were pointing out this on MNF where Jags and Osman both had their hands on hips which is a sign of tiredness. When the ball came in against Arsenal nobody was in the right position. Also they pointed out that when Atsu and McGeady were on the pitch for the first goal they weren't tracking back. When Cazorla had the ball he walked past the defenders crossed it in and Ramsey got the goal. It was nothing special by Cazorla just we didn't challenge him, but Atsu, McGeady and Naismith were all on the centre line waiting to grab them on the counter. It is then when we need Atsu and McGeady to track back and defend. Pienaar does this all the time as does Mirallas. I don't think we should be one of those teams that defends when getting the lead as I would rather grab another goal but also think we should have had Atsu and McGeady back a bit more to help the defending, especially when you could tell the players were tired.
  13. I don't know how players can be unfit, these are supposed to be professional athletes aren't they!? They have all summer to get fitter.....I know they get their holidays where they won't be training but they've had the pre-season because of that reason! What are we doing in training as to why in 2 weeks players aren't fit enough to do 90 minutes!
  14. Yeah come to think of it he was on the last year of his contract. Anyway Martinez has come out and said he doesn't want Welbeck, well he hasn't said no. (See below). http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/everton-boss-roberto-martinez-rules-out-move-manchester-united-forward-danny-welbeck-1462822?
  15. Yeah true, but Chelsea sold Lukaku and loaned Atsu out to Everton does that mean we aren't a direct rival? Obviously I know it is because they're title favourites but Arsenal sold RvP to United, a rival. I do think if we were to go for Welbeck it would be something along the same lines as Lukaku. We will have him on loan for the season and depending on how well he does offer money. IF we do go for Welbeck that is!!
  16. We will get someone on loan before the window shuts. We won't buy anyone but we will get them on loan, and I reckon it will be Welbeck. Martinez will not use all 3 loan players straight away as he will want to see what January brings as well. We might need to strengthen in certain area and a loan in January would be beneficial. If we signed Welbeck though what a signing it would be. (Lukaku, Eto'o and Welbeck) (Naismith & Barkley behind the striker)!
  17. Did anybody see Rodwell play for Sunderland against United. He looked decent, got forward and defended well. I always rated Rodwell when he was at Everton but injuries was a problem with him. If he could stay fit for Sunderland then they have a real player on their hands.
  18. Didn't he get 9 goals in the premier league last season? Only playing 21 games? Good goal return really.
  19. I would play McGeady on the left and Mirallas on the right and Naismith behind the big man Lukaku.
  20. It's a shame it is Goal.com, they are the worst at making up a transfer story. Here are some stories that came from Goal.com first.... 'EXCLUSIVE: Hull City agree deal for Arsenal defender Jenkinson' - July 28. 'EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal open talks over Schneiderlin move' - July 18. 'EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of £60m-rated Juve midfielder Paul Pogba' - June 28. 'EXCLUSIVE: Arsene Wenger to hold Mario Balotelli talks ahead of £25m Arsenal move' - June 18. 'EXCLUSIVE: Louis van Gaal wants Patrice Evra to stay at Manchester United' - May 20 EXCLUSIVE', August 11: 'Chelsea have made a shock enquiry for Queens Park Rangers forward Loic Remy following Didier Drogba's injury, Goal understands.' EXCLUSIVEAugust 20: 'Chelsea cool interest in QPR striker Remy. Until it comes from BBC/Skysports then I will start to believe something in the rumor. Until then, not so much. We are getting linked to everyone at the moment. Cleverley will come up again and it will be a goal exclusive.
  21. This might sound stupid but isn't that what we have been doing for years and years? Besic is young but he is going to be playing in the first team with Lukaku so they're not really ones for the future as they're for the present. Galloway is going to be playing in reserves but apart from that not sure which other people we can say would get in the Everton team in a couple of years who we have bought this transfer market? I'm not disagreeing with you just wondering that's all. I do know what you mean that we will have a young squad but we will always be buying new players who can walk straight into the first team squad as well. I don't think I am getting my point across well here either. I guess I mean yes we can buy youngsters in for the U21 squad and try to build for the future but at the same time we will always be buying more players who can walk into the first team straight away which at will also halt players progress. Like when we got rid of Fellaini - we get McCarthy, Barry. Jelavic - Kone, Lukaku, Traore. Also out of the U18, U21 squad most of them are English (which is great) but how many would get into the first team in 3 years time? I don't know a lot about the U21, U18 but when Rodwell, Rooney, Barkley, Vaughan and Baxter were all progressing there was a lot of hype surrounding each of them but I haven't heard anything else about anyone. Maybe it is just me being cynical but I just don't see anything changing drastically in the next 3 years except a few players getting into the first team but apart from that we would still be relying on transfers. P.S I think I have just talked a lot of winny wanny there, trying to get my point across but failing.
  22. Samuel Eto'o would be a good addition to the squad but not for what he would want for his wage! We do need another striker though.
  23. I would have to disagree with you about Howard. I think that he is an outstanding keeper! Everyone's got a different opinion I guess.
  24. Just realised though, even Lindigaard is 30 years old! I thought he was 25-26!!
  25. We aren't going to get a Keeper like Howard again. He was cheap as he was United 2nd choice keeper at the time, great keeper though! Robles is young but he does look shaky and I hate how he punches the ball out everytime a corner comes in. I get it that you don't want to thumb ball it but at the same time you are giving the opposition a chance again! Whenever Howard gets injured I don't look forward to the next game, with Robles in nets it doesn't fill me with confidence. When Mucha was at Everton it wasn't to bad, we had two experienced international goalkeepers. Begovic will be to expensive, will cost 10-20 million. I would take a gamble on Lindigard from United. He looks pretty decent and would be cheaper than Begovic.
