  1. I would let Joel have some game time. Especially against a physical team against Hull who get the balls in the box. He really needs to learn to stop punching the ball out! What better way than against a team like Hull! -----Joel----- Coleman---Jags---Stones--Baines Barry---McCarthy McGeady Pienaar Nasimith---Lukaku Subs: Barkley, Gerry, Alcaraz
  2. Pardew is like Mouriniho. Loves to be in the limelight! Over seas I would say Carlo Ancelotti reminds me a bit of Martinez character. Against Bayern especially, on the counter attack and listening to the interview afterwards he knew exactly what to say!
  3. I have always thought that Pienaar was a decent player. Never have really slated him. Look forward to him playing against Hull!
  4. I think if we tied players down on new contracts it shows we aren't a selling club. We have a great squad at the moment and would love for everyone to get new contracts. I can't see it being true about Martinez having a 3.5mil contract clause. I would be surprised. Have you seen in the papers that Spurs are interested in Martinez? As if he would leave Everton to go to Spurs....
  5. If you win the Europa isn't it a automatic qualification into the champions league or am I wrong there?
  6. I don't think anybody is going to leave this season. I think we have got a good enough squad. We have got money left in the bank to buy some quality players. Some of the players we are getting to linked to don't exactly fill me with excitement. (Except for Welbeck, the work rate on the lad is immense).
  7. We aren't going to get champions league now. Even if we beat City I can't see Arsenal dropping points against West Brom. They can be a team at times where they put up a fight but Arsenal seem to be getting back to their winning ways.
  8. Does Vellios contract end this year!? I don't rate Vellios that much. What does it tell you when Lukaku is out and he puts Mirallas as the loan striker. He didn't do anything at Blackpool either. OK he only got two chances but in my opinion I don't think this player is going anywhere. Maybe a lower league club but apart from that I don't think he is a EPL standard. I might be wrong and lets hope I am but to me I haven't seen much of him to say otherwise.
  9. Stones wouldn't go at all! Martinez gave him a chance and he has proven himself. I doubt he will go after one season. He still has to develop yet. Maybe in a couple of years when he has matured a bit he might go to Chelsea, Arsenal etc.
  10. Diame is a good player. If we don't get Barry I think this would be a great buy. I think we need an extra body also though as Gibson isn't fit yet. Maybe Rodwell loan?
  11. I would take Moses in a heartbeat. I have also thought he was a good player. I didn't understand why he went to Liverpool on loan.
  12. Oh yeah I forgot about Barry not being able to play. Ok then new formation.... -----------Howard---------- Coleman----Jags---Stones---Baines McCarthy--Barkley McGeady Gerard Lukaku---Naismith
  13. I don't think Martinez will play 3 at the back. He will play the same formation but with Jags and Stones instead of Alcaraz. I think he will start with Osman instead of Barkley also. This is a must win game, I don't really care about Liverpool. Like you said I would rather us guarantee some sort of European football next season. Whether it be Europa or Champions league. My starting XI: ------Howard------ Coleman--Stones--Jags--Baines McCarthy--Barry McGeady---Osman---Gerard --Lukaku--
  14. Of course I want us to beat City. It doesn't matter if we are out of champions league contention if Arsenal beat Newcastle. We are pretty much going to get Europa league no matter what so I would rather guarantee getting 5th than getting 6th place.
  15. I am hit and miss about the Europa league at the moment. When Moyes was in charge we dreamed only about the Europa league. Now when Martinez is in charge we are wanting more. Maybe it is me getting to greedy to soon but I just hope that if we play in the Europa league we don't drop our performance in the league. Swansea, Newcastle and Spurs have all struggled. Playing games on a Thursday and then a Saturday/Sunday can be quite demanding at times. Liverpool were offered Europa league this season but they turned it down so they could concentrate on the league. Look what that has done for them this year.
  16. I would take Cleverley, if we got him for 4-6 million then why not. I don't think Martinez would go for him if Gibson was fit. Also I only think that we will get Cleverley if Barry doesn't sign a contract with us.
  17. Wouldn't say Naismith has turned into Zlat. He is a good player who works his socks off but come on - really?
  18. Lets focus on getting champions league place secured first before muttering on about winning the title.
  19. Just had a look for Jamie Sanderson name. The one who wrote the article for the Metro and straight away he comes up with loads of articles about Arsenal and the youth that are coming up etc. Arsenal supporter trying to derail Everton players like everyone has said already!
  20. Question 1 Lets get it out of the way, what are your thoughts on Manchester United and in particular David Moyes this season who has moved from managing Everton Football club for nearly 12 years to moving to Manchester United? I liked Moyes at Everton but I do think that he achieved everything with us. We were a team trying to qualify for Europa league each season. Man United is a massive club and to replace SAF, well that was going to be a tough test for any one to do. Although I don't like saying it I think United are finally finding some form. They need to buy players in the summer to be competing for top 4 again, you have an aging squad and need quality players. Success will come again though, United are too big of a club to not be in the champions league but one season won't hurt them. Question 2 After what has gone on and all that Moyes has done for Everton, are you ready to forgive him? I am in two minds about this, the fact that it was rumored last season that United were going to bid 15-20 million for Baines when SAF was in charge. Then Moyes comes in and bids 18 million for two players and then his improved bid was 24 million. (Something along those lines). That is what hurt as he knew how valuable those two players were to Everton. If you asked any toffee supporter I think they will recognize the work he did at Everton and transforming the club again into what it is today. Question 3 After seeing what Robert Martinez has done with your team, do you think he has improved the way you play, and it what way does he differ from David Moyes? He has definitely improved the way we play. I can't remember the last time we scored 3 goals in the last four games. I admired Martinez at Wigan and thought he was a good manager but even I didn't think he would do as good of a job as he has done at Everton. He gets the full potential out of players, look at Barkley, Stones. Under Moyes Barkley never really got a game but under Martinez he is playing week in week out and is showing his quality. Also Coleman and Baines we are benefiting as well. Just the way we play nowadays. We play attractive football, passing it along the ground, patient and quick tempo. This is what every Everton fan was wanting under Moyes. Question 4 Do you think having Lukaku has made a difference to the way you play with his physical presence? He has definitely made the difference, what a signing by Martinez. When you see him play his presence and the way he can bulldoze over defenders. Lukaku isn't the complete product, his passing is terrible and his touch isn't great but what he does have is pace, skill, strength. Give him time and he will score 20 goals a season and have those other qualities. Chelsea fans were calling out for Jose to play him and were gutted when he came to Everton on loan so what does that say about the big man. Question 5 Who is your most hated Manchester United player and why? I don't think I have a hated United player per say, I mean a lot would say Rooney from what he did after he scored against us by kissing the badge but apart from that no other players bother me that much. Question 6 What are your thoughts on Martinez? Do you think he is the right manager to get you where you rightly deserve after so many years trying; a Champions league spot? Yeah Martinez is a great manager, like I said even I didn't think our season would go the way it has done. I didn't think we would finish out the top 10 but I did think it would be a top 7 finish again. He seems to have got the players believing again and we now fear no team and the spirit itself seems to be higher than ever. I don't think I have ever seen us bounce back so many times from a defeat. Question 7 What does Manchester United versus Everton mean to you as an Evertonian? This game coming up means an awful lot to an Everton fan. This is Moyes coming back to Goodison and we want to win. We want to have the rights to say to Moyes look what you're missing! Question 8 We have played against each other many times over the years. Which is your favourite game against us, and why? There are many games that stick in my mind, the 3-0 win at home to United. 3-3 draw and the 4-4 draw are all games to remember. Then there is the game this season where we beat United at Old Trafford for the first time in 21 years. Question 9 What are your predictions for the game on the 20th of April? My prediction is going to be a 2-2 draw. Everton have a good home record but United have the best away record in the league. It is going to be a tough test for both teams anyway.
  21. Yeah it was Arteta's goal. If you were asking the question between Mirallas or Arteta? Definitely Mirallas.
  22. The person who wrote this should have looked at the stats first. This article was on mediawatch (Football 365) as well. (See below). Loan Rangers There is a wonderfully bitter piece on the website of the Metro today, written by Paul Mannion, who describes himself as a Newcastle United supporter. That much soon becomes clear. Mannion pens a criticism of Everton's use of the loan system, hinted at by the headline 'Why Everton are out of order for signing so many loan players'. However, the reasoning and logic of the argument is flimsier than tissue paper in a hurricane. 'Everton deserved their victory over the Magpies at St James' Park but the flattering scoreline highlighted the growing problem of loan players in today's Premier League,' writes Mannion. 'The Football Association need to address the Premier League loan system to stop it having an adverse effect on the table.' There are already rules in place regarding the loan market. Clubs can only sign a maximum of two players on loan from another Premier League club. So that's sorted. 'A third of Everton's starting line-up were on-loan players from the world's elite clubs and their whole team is built around them.' Three is not a third of eleven. 'Without Lukaku, a world-class striker who would be beyond Everton financially if they were to attempt a full transfer from Chelsea, as well as Deulofeu and Barry, the Toffees wouldn't be anywhere near a Champions League spot.' A Newcastle supporter criticising Everton for being able to take Lukaku on loan, and thus giving them an unfair advantage, would be a lot easier to swallow if Newcastle's manager had not spoken about taking the same player on loan just 24 hours earlier. "I think he is a player a lot of clubs will be looking at in the summer," Alan Pardew said of Lukaku. "I don't think Everton will get a free run at him." It would also be an easier argument to accept if two of Newcastle's three strikers (Luuk De Jong and Loic Remy) were not on loan, with Remy the club's top scorer and actually contributing more goals than the 'world-class' Lukaku this season.
  23. Mirallas - Yes he is inconsistent. I am not going to disagree with you there but who would we get to replace him? I don't think McGeady is up to the job if I am honest. On his day Mirallas is unstoppable. Get rid of the two most consistent defenders at the club. Distin is a rock in defense and I don't think he does show his age. He is still a top defender. Jagielka is slow but is still a really good tackler of the ball. You can tell when Jags or Distin aren't in the team. Stones is a good player but needs a couple of years yet. Osman and Pienaar - Osman is still a good player. Quick on his feet and when Barkley is having a shocker of a game when he comes on he makes the difference. Pienaar also has something else to give to the team, he hasn't played to well this season but he is one player that I trust won't lose the ball when he has it. He doesn't try anything stupid like Mirallas or Gerry do. I do like players who take on defenders but when it doesn't pay off you look a fool. Pienaar doesn't try to take on defenders. He knows his abilities. Still has something to give to the team. Yeah Gibson is injury prone but let's see how he gets on next season. He could come back with a bang. He still has a place in the Everton team. Great passer of the ball. McCarthy would play more games but Gibson still is a great player. Hopefully he will come back fit next season and show everybody again. Duffy - Good backup player. He did well when he filled in for Everton last season when Jags and Distin were injured. Good squad rota player. Vellios - Yes! Need to get rid of him if Martinez isn't even giving him a chance he must not be either proving himself in training or just doesn't fit into managers plans. ----------- I really don't know who else we would get rid of. Hopefully we have a bit of money in the bank to not need to sell players.
  24. Tell me about it, lets hope Wigan beat Arsenal. I can't see it myself though unfortunately but it is the FA cup, anything can happen.
