Yea I wasn't comparing those strikers to us now..I was putting forth my opinion to the point made that we are better when we don't have out and our goal scorers but instead forwards who can lead the line. i think it's silly to bucket us one way or the other - we've had both types of players and the team has played well (and other times not). Iqnuoted those players because they were around the same time Period as others being referenced.

But clinical strikers have also worked for us - Andy Johnson, Yakubu, Lukaku....maybe not on a sustained season after season basis - but we signed each of those and they had great first seasons. We aren't an appealing proposition to get that type of striker at the moment but I don't think it's right to say and out and out goal scorer is not successful for us.

For me the Gnonto talk is getting too rich...25+ add ons. Can we not get a better striker with that money? I love the age and profile but needs must. That said it's not only about money...the player has to also want to come here.

Yes. UEFA changed that rule because of that. Clubs can still offer long contracts but for fair play purposes there is now a cap of 5 years. At least that was my understanding.

Agreed but seems like a lot of wingers/attacking mids (Danjuma, Gnonto, Harrison etc). Some of which can play up top but not naturally. what I see and hear I don't think the staff expect chiementi to contribute. Hope we have enough cash to get another striker. gray money should pay for Harrison.

I am optimistic. Frustrated like everyone else but at least we created lots of great chances. For much of Last season we were toothless....Danjuma will get up to speed, DCL will contribute in some way, McNeil will be back etc. so reasons to be positive even if it was a kick in the teeth to not take advantage.
