  1. Presumably Tim Howard is in goal in order to restore his confidence.
  2. Quite pleased with this - although hoping Browning gets to play at some point.
  3. Why? - Last year, this game was played when we had the most injuries - This year, Liverpool have no Suarez - This year, Liverpool are struggling to accommodate so many new players - After last weekend, our team will be resolved to win and win big Personally, I see this being a rather close and wide open game.
  4. It's worth overcoming hesitation about calls of "USA". When viewed and heard live on NBC Sports, it surely creates many new supporters feeling proud of "their" man. Tim Howard is the key that can unlock substantial new funds for the team!
  5. You just answered your own question. Obviously, he's still at Stoke for a reason. The grass always looks greener, as they say.
  6. Unusually, the standard video streams don't appear to list it.
  7. Likewise. I think we'll see a passionate game with our players really wanting to win and erase the memory of last weekend.
  8. Perfectly serious. We have the derby over the weekend, Krasnodar after that, and then away to Manchester United - all within the space of a week. What's the point having a squad if we can't use squad players for the least important of our games?
  9. Robles Hibbert Stones Alcaraz Oviedo McGeady Besic Gibson Ledson Kone McAleny
  10. And I can speak a little Welsh (almost identical to Cornish). Since I'm a striker, I could shout messages to confuse their defence.
  11. In recent weeks, I've discovered another work by Gustav Holst. While he's known for The Planets, he wrote many other powerful and beautiful pieces - and has to be one of the greatest composers England ever produced. For anyone who enjoys classical music, here's A Song of the Night.
  12. What this discussion is impressing on me is the importance of leadership and vision. What if, indeed, the appropriate authorities in Liverpool used the space between the two current stadia to implement a sports complex? A golf course, a skate boarding park, a housed Olympic swimming pool, a jogging or cycling area around the perimeter, even a cricket ground - with a renovated Goodison Park at one end, a renovated Anfield at the other, and transport options to the entire complex? It really would put Liverpool on the map for sports, and the stadia could be used for all kinds of other events - concerts and the like. Vision!!
  13. Sounds like a variation on Henry Ford's observation: "Whether or not you believe you can, you're right." In this case, whether or not you believe he's great, you'll confirm it during the game.

  15. AidanLewis has predicted only one game. Truth is that, based on points per prediction, you're consistently scoring more points than the rest of us. But we'll see by the end of the season!
  16. A disappointing week, and no one predicted correctly the outcome of this game. Nonetheless, five people managed to get 4 points: doc_bump, Howardshands, MikeO, TonkaRoost, and yours truly. For the month of September, MiguelCotto, MikeO, Paddock, and myself are tied. For the season, mogsy remains in the lead. If only he'd made a prediction in every game, AidanLewis could be in the lead (points per prediction). Hopefully, the colour scheme makes clear where everyone's points come from.
  17. Does every thread have to become a vehicle for criticizing Lukaku? Honestly, it gets a little old sometimes.
  18. In recent years, I've become more diligent in what I eat: very few sugary or processed foods, virtually no bread or potatoes, quinoa instead of rice, more fruit and veggies, more nuts. It's also true of what I drink: no sugary drinks, no creamer in coffee (and little coffee in the first place), no iced drinks, and plenty of green tea. My principal problems are threefold: (i) I don't drink enough, especially water; (ii) I'm not diligent about exercising (especially since I caused bone stress last year due to too much running); and (iii) eating out and eating too much when traveling on business (and I travel a lot). I'm struggling to overcome all three of these issues. If I can somehow get back on track, I have no doubt that I'll lose more weight.
  19. For entertainment value, it is by far the best league in the world. Why did NBC pay a fortune for broadcasting rights for BPL games and not for the other leagues you mention?
  20. Other than Jagielka versus Alcaraz, we're hoping for the same team.
