  1. in my best ricky gervais accent "i'm 'avin a laff" at this sterling saga. wants away, prima donna, and now no deals agreed to and he has to report to camp. he says he doesn't want to do the asian tour. this is hilarious. i hope it continues all season long and de-rails them. they should have taken the 40m when it was on the table.
  2. http://www.espnfc.us/club/aston-villa/362/blog/post/2515363/can-tim-sherwood-solve-aston-villas-left-back-problem just this writers opinion (at the end on getting garbutt to villa), but interesting that it's being talked about.
  3. thank you for understanding matt. i understand spending more doesn't guarantee success. but for clubs with already good stadium, debt ratio, etc it will make it a LOT easier. I'm interested in our players as well, just growing tired of being the "punching above our weight" side.
  4. more of a headline reader myself been found out guess i need to read the whole article now
  5. Wow Romey. Never thought of that. Wild idea. Where would he play in their 433 though? Replace iniesta?
  6. cause we as fans need to do something about it. get a petition going, pressure the board, etc. this malaise and general "elstone sucks and is ruining us and bill won't open the checkbook, but oh well i'll go drink and not do anything" by not doing anything we're telling them it's okay and were fine with the way things are. We are a fucking awesome club, we deserve a board that feels the same!
  7. would be incredible but highly unlikely. we could ask real madrid for odegaard but that doesn't mean they'll say yes. he will want champs league football.
  8. you're missing the point joe. they have a massive stadium and tv money to spend. ashley is a tit but he won't be there forever (unlike our board). they could be top 5 easy. again before the TV money mike! now they have a massive stadium and tv money! we have a broken old stadium, kitbag, debt and the tv money's disappearing with the arteta money. exactly. becuase their commercial revenues and matchday revenues (big stadiums newcastle, west ham, etc) will be dwarfing ours. that plus the tv money and we'll be the west bromwich of the premier league. it's not an overnight thing joe and mike, it's gradual. 5 years from now we could be fighting for relegation every season with little to no revenue, still a lot of debt, and the money other squads are getting to spend on players, we have to use to fund all our obligations sans players. it's a vicious cycle and it's not a healthy way to run a business or club.
  9. Exactly. Newcastle have a large one as well. Spurs and Chelsea building a new one and doing upgrades. We're still trying to find 50 quid in the coach cushions to get a player on loan.
  10. Barely held on there. They looked absolutely gassed. So hot and humid, I'm looking for a better conditioned team Friday. Sad I'll miss the next match as I have a gig but with this one out of the way I'm not too worried.
  11. I agree Keith. Zardes, Bradley, f Johnson, and Yedlin look good. Zardes won't be in MLS long, he looks like a beast and he's young. Still if we're shit and beating a WC qualifying team 1-0 I'm not too mad. It's a young team.
  12. Yeah I feel like they need to do something, the group stage is a joke. Some of those teams Jamaica Haiti Cuba are fine, but they should be weeded out before hand. It should be if you qualify for WC you go in at hex. Other teams battle to get the last 2.5 spots, playoff with the 4 th place for that spot.
  13. Neither nothing would make me happier than the U.S. Joining another region. Conmebol would be great. Concacaf is a nuisince. Playing on cricket pitches that have been washed up years ago whilst fans throw bottles of piss and batteries at your players is terrible.
  14. Right mike but the difference then was there was no tv money. Before we were skint and so was everyone else. Now everyone has money (bar the promoted teams) and we still don't have money! It's gone to pay for the training ground we used to own, it's gone to debt (Swansea debt free they get to spend that money), gone to the build a stadium fund, bills pockets, earls pockets, etc. Not saying well drop next year but unless we buck the trend we will be headed down. Man city were terrible, they've splashed cash and won the league 2 times recently. It works. Liverpool still above us, still in Europe. I'm having a moan but it saddens me.
  15. so that was mostly fellaini/anichebe money. dang, back to 10m summer windows. i can't see us lasting like that with the likes of west ham going out and spending, west brom are getting new owners they will splash the cash. pisses me off.
  16. holy shit i'm laughing my ass off so loud at work, everyone is looking at me. LOL this shit is hilarious. putin look a like! 152 carps!! bwahaha
  17. steve i fear that the 28m was a couple windows kitties and the fellaini/anichebe money. it was both the summer and winter of last year (mainly our only "proper" signing), and i'm worried it's some of this year as well. just the signings we are getting are indicative of penny pinching. we've signed 2 players, cleverly and gerry. one free, the other cheap (albeit a very good deal i won't cry about gerry). henen was already in place to be bought just need to pass his "loan trial", and garbutt same thing just an extension.
  18. yes and they got a great manager, players would like to play for him i'm sure. agreed, time for bill and boobie earl to open the checkbooks.
