  1. Naismiths a big game player I think that's why he played him. He scores goals against the "big " sides.

This season he's scored against Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U andMan City. Last season was the same.. Winner against Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool etc.

Not saying he was right to pick him but I can see why he did. He scores important goals against the bigger (hate using that phrase but you get me) sides.

Wow didn't realize that's where his goals were. Definitely understand that pick now. Damn naisy, way to have brass balls.

  2. What are your gran's wage demands (factoring in the cost of the medium)?

    Lol

Tonka - not my opinion but a thought I've had is that Martinez signed Barry for decent wages and has besic on the cheap. He knows besic will be the starter but if he puts him in too soon, Barry will just ride the pine for 2 years and be a waste of wages. I think he's llaying him in hopes he regains last seasons form and can get a little more mileage out of him.

    I don't agree with this, but it's a thought I've had.

Another thought is he knows besic will be a beast and worth 30m in 2 years time and wants to get as much mileage out of him as he can. The lad can play.

  3. I'm a bit concerned that anyone over thirty can be bracketed with "dead wood" to be honest.

    Many exceptional players over thirty.

Agree, unfortunately our list doesn't require a lot of those. Kone jags and baines would be the only keepers for me. Alcaraz Howard Barry and osman on the fence. But the rest can go. Even if they were 25 I'd say let them go (except hibbo)

  4. My biggest worry for us is the amount of 'dead wood' we have. Or a mix of dead wood with the 30+ club.

This creates a big financial need over the coming years. No matter who would be manager, it would be a tricky one to balance.

Deadwood/30+...Gibson(?), Pienaar, Osman, Hibbert, Alcaraz, Distin, Jags, Baines, Hibbert, Howard, Kone, Barry...its a whole team that needs replacing over the next 2-3 seasons.

Wow I knew we had a lot of dead wood but the 30 and over club is huge! Massive summer, didn't see it coming tbh, let's hope it's home runs like besic McCarthy and duelofeu.

  5. Players come and go, I accept it. Too much emphasis is placed on pleasing them and pandering to what "they want" - if they wanna go then they can pack their Luis vuitton suitcases and take their money.

Hope he scores a couple today.

Exactly. If he had played for SAF or an old school coach they would have ripped him a new ass hole. The new breed of managers put up with ego and pander to these guys, I don't dig that. I prefer the more traditional style where if you're like that you can ship up or ship out.

  6. Continuing the theme set by Sky, the Daily Mail has a "Special Report" laying into Martinez and problems with the squad:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2943232/Roberto-Martinez-seen-soft-touch-players-trusted-staff-left-club-turned-sour-Everton-boss.html

Coincidence that they run this the day of the "Stevie G Derby"?

It's like they've read the forum. Taken all mc11 conspiracy theories and said they are from a "trusted source in the locker room", trash absolute trash

  7. Can't be 3-7m, just can't be. He has 12 months +12 month extension if we exercise our clause, 3-7m is ludicrous for a player of his ability with technically 2 years on his contract

Agreed. Probably his agent trying to devalue him to get more interest. Where's he going to go? Spurs to play Europa? I really can't see man uc Chelsea, man city, arsenal, etc going for him.
