  1. No doubt RM has learnt from this decision. As long as he recognizes the mistake (and I'm sure he does) then what's done is done. To put a Roberto positive spin on it. He could be an impact player in the last couple of games when we really need a goal. Having not seen much of him sides won't be too sure how to handle him. If he gets the winner against City at home or in a possible FA Cup final then I'll take it.
  2. I'd be surprised to see Pardew anywhere near the stadium until next season once the punishment has been handed down. Tough game but winnable.
  3. A little harsh. I remember a time when Neville got injured and we lacked any kind of leadership on the park. Skill wise limited but he was a great signing for our club. I wouldn't begrudge Barry 50k on a 2 year with a 3rd year as an option.
  4. I forgot Wenger only buys midfielders, my mistake.
  5. I can see a big bid coming in for him before the start of the next season. Sagna has said that he'll be leaving Arsenal at the end of the season and Arsenal have been looking at Coleman recently.
  6. Hopefully after the recent good play but no goals everything will magically click and we'll see a complete performance from everyone.
  7. Agreed. 10M for Hernandez would be a great bit of business. If he plays consistently he'll get goals.
  8. It has to be Stones, I see no value in having Alcaraz starting ahead of him.
  9. Martinez made some good points about Lukaku in his press conference today. How expectations were raised, it's about playing 90 mins consistently week in/week out, taking instructions etc and that the injury came at a good time. As we've all said he looked spent before the injury. Until the send of the season he needs to get his head down, stop making smart remarks to the press about CL football, score the goals that will get us as high up the table as possible and then we'll be in a position to evaluate how much he is worth. It's going to take him in a couple of games to get up to match speed though. Hopefully he'll start banging them in before too long.
  10. Think we missed bullet on Ruiz and van Wolfswinkel. Except for Mischy I have a hard time to come up with any strikers that are good, affordable and would fit in with team.
  11. I think we'd probably be 6th or 7th at the end of the season, played really well at times and also played bad at times. We'd have lost at the grounds at all of the "big 4" having played for a point in each encounter. Got knocked out of the cup away to a league one outfit. Barkley would still be knocking on the door and we still wouldn't have a good striker and be listening to the same crap from Moyes that we heard non-stop towards the end. Compare to now after Martinez has been in the job for only 9 months with an improvement in our overall style of play and I think we're in a good place. of course if certain things had gone for us then we'd be in a better place but I honestly was slightly worried that we would be towards the bottom of the table. Plus, there is the positivity in the interviews and press conferences. Listening to Moyes press conferences at United makes me appreciate Martinez even more.
  12. Agree that Rogers won't let him go after the hassle that he went through to get him. But I would take him, not at anything above 10M though.
  13. Watched the game on DVR last night after being away over the weekend. I'd like to say I was surprised when they scored with 2 mins to go but the mrs came into the room just after they scored and asked how we were doing, my response, a despondent "typical Everton have just lost with 2 mins to go" I thought it was a solid performance overall but like everyone says we need a decent striker up top. What's really depressing is that the shite are now 11 points ahead after the last few games.
  14. I would be disappointed if Joel played at Arsenal. It has to be our strongest 11 for an FA Cup quarter final.
  15. Not sure if I'm agreeing or disagreeing. Each and every team has the ability to turn things round, lots of variables but time and a manager with a long term plan in place is key. No matter which team I supported I wouldn't accept being a mid table side and that's my lot. I accept it would be difficult, but not impossible.
  16. It was the constant so close yet so far under Moyes that finally got my goat that became synonymous with our club. It was and is a mental blocker. Martinez has made great strides this season but as he has said it's building blocks. The plan B will come, I just think it will take at least one more season. My only concern right now is when he has to evolve our defence. He has that stellar back line and solidity right now, no questions on the attack but the defense concerns me.
  17. Quietly confident that we can either beat Arsenal or at least get them to Goodison for the replay. We'll be playing Arsenal at the right time and they certainly won't want a replay. Not going to get my hopes up too high as that normally ends in disappointment supporting the mighty blues. I'd love Martinez to successfully defend the cup this season.
  18. Really pleased to see this video earlier. Looks well on the road to recovery. Hopefully he has a chance of making the world cup.
  19. Martinez said as much in his press conference. I'm sure he'd see the positive side in that he knows Barkley needs to be absolutely spot on have the desired impact.
  20. I'll clarify the bold part United continually make a big point that the manager will be given time and this was en-forced through the 6 year contract handed to Moyes at the start of his reign. They obviously didn't anticipate the season going as badly as it has. It'll be interesting to see what high level decisions they make in the future. If he is sacked then it goes completely against the whole ethos that the club has been promoting. It also validates that Fergie's decision was a poor one. There is a belief in those values. I've just seen that Meulensteen has been sacked the best thing Moyes could do would be to bring him back in. Can't see it happening though.
  21. I remember at the start of last season that he had us playing some great football, equally there were times when the football was dreadful. I didn't appreciate the way that Moyes worked his exit out to United and that was a great bone of contention between the clubs, if I remember correctly United even sent a written apology to the club about it. Couldn't begrudge him the opportunity but then something happened and some of the comments from him were so disrespectful I had to actually watch him say what he said to truly believe it. I think a big problem Moyes has is his handling of Rooney, since when should a player be consulted on which players are to come in. it's obviously caused problems behind the scenes. Some players haven't helped him, particularly Ferdinand. As you know he has a massive rebuilding project and Fergie obviously papered over the cracks to a large degree. I think it's going to be rough for a number of years while he gets the players in he wants. I think your days of fast attacking football are behind you, it's going to be one dimensional for a long time to come but I think he'll likely get it right but 'right' may most likely mean no silverware or CL for a long time to come. In a nutshell United are screwed. They should have gone for Mourinho, they obviously didn't think he would stick around but he openly courted the club to make him the new manager and he was passed over. He's since said he was looking for a long term project and that will now happen at Chelsea, you may have also said goodbye to attacking football with him but as he as come out and said today, he doesn't fail very often.
  22. No mention of arrogance? Something is wrong.
  23. Would love to see that team but I can't see Martinez taking any chances with Barkley. He admitted in his press conference that he had brought him back too early. While I'd love to see Traore start I think in this instance it would be better to have him on the bench. Howard Coleman Jags Distin Bains McCarthy Barry McGeady Osman Pienaar Mirallas Gerry, Traore, Barkley on from the bench. Hoping the game will be done and dusted so Ross can be kept on the bench.
  24. I'm really looking forward to seeing this guy play. Hopefully he can make a big impact and if it's similar to what happened after the debut's from Jelavic and Lukaku he should be in the goals.
