  1. I've stuck by Martinez against better judgement. He's an absolute tit of a man who instead of addressing the 10% failing him is using that 10% failing him as an opportunity to make a point.

I used an analogy to describe David Moyes a while ago. Something like "he would be given £10k to spend in a casino, all night he would be on the 50p table and walk out with £10k in his pocket. He wouldn't take any gambles and have fun trying to win something"

To describe Martinez in this way would be.... he gets to the casino. Gets given £20k with the aim of doubling his money. 15 minutes before the end of the night he is stood there with £60k.... "cash in roberto, job done mate. You've trebled the bosses money"....

Bad move, you've told him to use common sense... defiance kicks in the catalans very being. 10k down on black, lost. 10k down on black, lost. He sticks to black and leaves the club empty handed....

The man gambles against common sense in order to make himself look good. He's gambling with Everton.

I've supported him for the fact that I believe he can be a great manager, but like most bad gamblers - he allows his ego to override common sense.

I see it less as stubborn and defiant, more as extreme patience and belief in what he's doing, but when he decides something is not working he's pretty ruthless.

He's 42 and he is still learning but he'll win things throughout his career whether with us or someone else.

  2. IMO means In My Opinion

It was a good post but I do not think anyone on there fills three or even two of the criteria

I'm with you, but we live in the age now where through the media fans/voters think they can constantly agitate for change based on them "knowing more/better" than who ever is in charge.

Its a worry because tonight he'll show up for work and I'm sure there will be "that vibe". Not the best situation to be in.

If Martinez had tinkered I'd probably think differently but it was a revolution, still needs more time.

  3. Strange one this! Who's shares has he bought? Surely nobody in their right mind would pump their own money into a club that has the likes if Earl/Green aboard who don't want throw a wisper in???

I was hoping for a full takeover

These things generally happen in stages, he will make an offer to purchase the rest of the shares.

Word is that Kenwright and Woods have reduced their positions and Earl sold all his so will be just the 32ish percent owned by "other" that could possibly increase his position.

  4. What we've heard in terms of exclusivity etc is crumbs at most. Any deals could be extended, re negotiated etc. Seen the rumor about the desk being done bouncing around the Twittersphere though.

Yeah thats my guess re extensions unless there was another serious bidder in the wings at which stage we might say "take it or leave it".

  5. To be fair even your Link says that.

Look, I can only respond to what you post, and you said nothing had been signed and the head of terms has been signed, that means Bill and the board have negotiated up to that point and Bill and the board are happy with whats in the head of terms. Its now up to the purchasers to make sure what they have agreed upon is in fact the situation.

It's non binding until incorporated into the head contract, but Bill's not doing due diligence on them though, that ship has sailed.

  6. Something of this magnitude doesn't just happen that quick. It's not as if any discerning businessperson making this type of investment is going to say, "well, the books look good, so where do we sign?!?". Looking over "the books" is an early step. Then comes a whole shit ton of modeling and planning to make sure the investment will be worthwhile. Then terms need to be worked out. Part of those terms, in Kenwright's case, beyond working out the money, most likely involves fully vetting the people he's selling his prized asset to and having his people evaluate their plans, which I'm assuming he would want to know before putting the club's future in their hands. We're talking lots of time-intensive, behind-closed-doors stuff here.

They've already signed the head of terms prior to due dilligence, and with all due respect the modeling would have come before, the books are the books, they're just getting forensics.

Notwithstanding the above, my point is, they had six weeks of exclusivity and that started in December so is well and truly up, so we can accept other offers should we want to.

  7.

dude you must not be on here much we have a whole thread devoted to that very subject. it's in the same forum too, just down a few subjects.

    http://www.toffeetalk.com/index.php?/topic/27682-if-martinez-goes-who-should-get-the-nod/

That the was the specific thread I was referring to, Eddie Howe and Andre Villa Boas? I'm not convinced.

PS I have posted in that thread and you have only really suggested Haf, who doesn't have any premier league and isn't going to get on with Lukaku.

  8. Last season was our worst campaign in years. It was also the worst football I've ever witnessed at Goodison in my lifetime. The writing has been on the wall ever since

Was our best run in Europe for years too though.

Still haven't heard any options of managers we could actually get who would be a big enough improvement to warrant starting again.

  9.

Exactly. Some fans act like Martinez is doing nothing right at all. He has changed an aging squad, brought in some great young talent and is changing the way we play Football. It was never going to be seemless.

Therefore i don't think its as clear cut as saying its time to go, there is a bigger picture to look at.

People stuck by Moyes for 10 years and we basically stood still with a few highlights. At least with Martinez you can see what he is trying to build and create.

I hate seeing Managers sacked after a short time. You cant judge a manager after 2 years when so much needed changing at the club. He frustrates the life out of me at times but iv never seen us play so much great football either. Just my opinion.

Agreed, and to think that there was people who wanted him sacked half way through last season, 6 months after arguably our best EPL campaign ever.

  10. Had to remind myself about his 20 last season, interesting... he got 8 in 9 Europa games and 10 in 36 premier league games. Last season was the only season where he never broke 15 prem league goals in 4 years, which is a strong stat.

Last year was a return of 20 in 48 games (quite a few games that).... he has hit 20 in 31 games this season (16 in the league).

Its fair to say that he has been far better this season than last.

Only 1 in the last 7 games though, and that a penalty.

  11. It was actually you that posted you saw him throw his gloves at Martinez feet wasn't it?

Great behaviour...air you feelings in front of a stadium full of fans instead of knocking on the boss door.

    That's gonna work haha.

I seriously hope he didn't do that, if he does that in public I can only imagine his attitude behind the scenes.

That said, would have been a perfect game for Mirallas to start IMO.
