It’s hard to judge a centre mid on a half in which we had 25% of the ball. He wasn’t great and misplaced a few passes - no different to anyone else out there. He has hardly kicked a ball in the premier league and to be in a midfield so undermanned was ridiculous. Whilst things didn’t come off for him I did see him try to keep the ball in areas that other players just loft a shit 50/50 up to the striker only to get monstered by the centre half.

They will be running around like crazy to impress Conte. I can’t see us getting anything from this if we play like we have the last few games. If we are going to set up for the counter I just hope we pack the midfield because without Doucoure there isn’t enough energy in there to protect our shithouse back 4. Can’t believe I’m saying this but Delph deserves a start. There’s a lot of question marks over the team below Pickford Coleman Mina* Holgate Digne* Allan Gbamin Delph Townsend** Gray Richarlison * Hopefully fit. **Happy for Gordon to start but not sure we could drop Townsend or Gray right now. Gbamin I want to see in a midfield that isn’t completely out numbered and if Gomes is fit I’m not sure if he is ready to go straight in. Bench - Begovic, Kenny, Godfrey, Keane, Gomes, Davies, Gordon, Iwobi, Rondon or Tosun (both offer fuck all really)

He wasn’t great but he was on par with the rest out there in what was a terrible first half. Doucoure is great but even he would struggled to get into the game against that many in midfield.

Pickford deserves a mention though.

There’s a fair portion of blame with some of his decisions. Watford at 2-1 we could have shut up shop but we didn’t. Wolves - 4411 was wrong. Iwobi may have scored but our front 2 weren’t in the game because we had no midfield. Allan the only one trying to press which they played around easily. That first half is on him as much as the players today.

I don’t think delph or Davies would have faired much better to be honest. Wolves dropped their intensity massively. We needed a 3 man midfield and I’m concerned Rafa didn’t see that.

He did but he was in his purple patch of putting in decent performances. Unfortunately he has no consistency in his performances and our only centre back that is decent is for ever injured. Move them both on and get a solid partnership. Our best teams were based on solid, consistent centre back partnerships

Our expectations are bang on for a club of our stature - that’s before even taking in to account the money spent. The effort, application and respect for the shirt from the players is far to low and unacceptable
