  1. steve I can accept a couple of changes but not 5 besic yes I was surprised he was rested for the villa game.

pienaar instead of ossie yes why not, the defence for me stays the same.

I think alcaraz has had plenty of rest keep him in now, eto'o is a possibility but no more than that.

You don't think the turn around May be a risk for Barkley, Coleman and lesser extent McCarthy?

  2.

My point about McGeady was about his consistency tbh. Because I do think there's a player in there. It's just a case of whether the decent one makes an appearance or the one that makes you want to run on to the pitch and strangle him!

Rotation should happen, but not to put out a reserve side - two or three changes is about right. Like Patto has said, it would be very shitty to put out a total reserve side when 10K+ of our fans have gone to great expense to go out there and watch us play. The fans have shown massive commitment and they deserve that commitment to be returned and rewarded.

I couldn't agree more with what you are saying Rom... I guess I am cautious of over playing the squad so early when were not in a great league position. Ideally, if we can wrap the group up early enough to give Kone/Gibbo/Robles a pressure free game that would be fantastic! But that's looking way to far ahead!

  3. Are they though? Oviedo had an operation to remove pins from his leg, what a week or so ago? We have no idea what sort of headspace Distin is in atm (I personally believe something has gone on). And McGeady is, well, McGeady! :P

I completely forgot about Oviedo's surgery!!!

I think McGeady was one of the better performers away in Russia and I'm holding to the hope that he can still provide something for the team...

Distin is the strange one depending on how they pulled up after the weekend if keep the same back 4 especially as Burnely (with out intending offence) don't offer much threat up top

  4. We need to build momentum, not piss it up the wall. I'm not saying don't make any changes, but wholesale changes would be stupid.

I agree completely, the players I mentioned coming in are capable of competing! A second clean sheet in a row would be a huge result!

  5.

For once, Patto, I'm on the same page as you - I've been reading this thread and just thinking "what the fuck?!"

I think I can relate to what the others are saying.... HAD we not dropped the 4 points early then we may be in a position now to play a stronger side and not be to concerned with Burnley this weekend... The likes of Distan, Oviedo, Besic, McGeady and Éto can play fresh and compete!

  6. Why all the negativity. We are well able to beat these. Let's get the finger out lads and put them to the sword early. Come on u toffees!!!

We can't go into the game to gung-ho... I can't see Lukaku getting much change out of Vlaar(if he plays) and they have pace to burn up front. Game for me will be won in the midfield ( I'm aware I say that a bit haha ) hopefully the loss of Delph hurts them as he was controlling their midfield!

  7. Excited for this game, but equally nervous! I think Villa are improving, and shouldn't be under estimated! Browning and Distan should hopefully match the pace of Gabby and Weiman ( not sure of my spelling ) Is Vlaar injured? I haven't kept upto date on that one- quality defender though

  8. I genuinely think Naismiths success is coming from the attention Lukaku gets... Credit to Naismith don't get me wrong I've been hugely impressed with him and with out his goals we would be gone ( similar to Cahill a few years back ) however I'm reserving judgement on Rom until Ross is back.. For what ever reason Naismith doesn't attract attention of defenders and Ross does creating space for others. And haf I don't think you can critise Rom relentlessly for poor touch/lay offs when Naismith is really no better..

  9. What's really exciting is that both Garbutt and Browning had great debuts, and Galloway is waiting in the wings. Over the next decade, we could have a phenomenal mostly home-grown defence.

It's quite a shame that this has become a positive... Playing in the English it is hugely disappointing the lack of English (even UK) youngsters getting brought through. I'm Australia I hold no ties to any of those national teams and couldn't care less how well they do (respectfully) but I so like that we seem to recruit these younger players and at least give them a crack!
