They do still need replacing though. Those players being gone and not being replaced highlighted how threadbare our squad is in terms of numbers.

They may not be needed to be replaced position-wise, but we need the numbers there.

I agree mate, with the players we have going out of contract we might have to keep Maupay around…

He’s had plenty of time to do his homework so shouldn’t be a problem if he’s any good.

Except he could be going in to a bidding war with far less to spend than those around him. We are going to have to play the loan market well here.

Too many injury concerns with Ndidi for me but we need about 5 free transfers.

    He’s played 65 games the last 2 seasons….

If we could move on Onana and Gomes, then replace with Ndidi and Barkley I’d be quite happy.

This is what I’ve been saying. If we can get good money for Onana & Gomes huge salary off the books whilst replacing with 2 free midfielders, great business.

He’s out for a minimum of 6 weeks after surgery has been avoided. Be touch and go with the Euros I would imagine.

When i saw it i winced in pain as it looked similar to how I did my ankle just over 2 months ago... I still have about 4-5 weeks of rehab & shockwave therapy, plus 2 completely ruptured ligaments.

For him to come back on the pitch until half time after that, he is all heart!

I’ve always maintained that we wouldn’t go down and have always said the 3 to go down would be Sheffield, Burnley, and Luton, and the 3 that come up next season will be the same 3 that go down. But that doesn’t in any way make me feel any better we have been absolutely terrible this season, and if people believe that the mark of a good season is too avoid relegation then crack on, but for me I’ve been embarrassed at some of the football we’ve played and won’t be looking at this season or last as a success.

I agree about the style of football but I feel for Dyche a bit on that front. Doucoure is somewhat effective in this system to grind out results however as soon as we start playing any sort of football through him it breaks down.

I really hope Thewell has found some gems in the market for next year, we desperately need to add 4+ good quality players.

Not a whole lot to say about the game really. It went pretty much as I expected it to tbh - I thought it'd be boring and we'd not be as intense as we were on Wednesday because that game will have taken a lot out of us both physically and mentally. I thought Dyche might have made changes in midfield because of that and I was quite surprised he didn't bring Onana in.

We ground out the win though and now we can relax.

That’s how I feel, I’m delighted about the result & the fact we have secured another season in the prem.

I found myself after going 1-0 urging Dyche to go a bit more expansive, which I now feel was a bit greedy as there was a job to be done still.

Chermiti absolute stellar effort from the lad, deserved a goal for effort alone.

Take Everton out the equation -  If I was Sean Dyche I wouldn't change what I do, if I was a member of his family/coaching team I would say "why  are you changing a product that there will always be a need for to appease one customer who wants something better".

its like a golfer with an ugly swing that hits it 50 yards shorter than everyone else..... doesn't win anything, doesn't get people watching him but he makes the cut at most tournaments and pulls in a few million a year and lives a great luxury life.    There will be people saying "make these changes to your swing and you will hit it longer and get lower scores and maybe win something".........  seen it a million times before - golfer gets lost in what they are being taught, it feels alien, they lose confidence and they lose their tour card and with that millions of pounds.

it sounds like I'm making the case to keep dyche and his tactics - I'm not.  I'm advocating hiring a manager who can coach a side to be a better team who can actually dominate and win games.  Dyche when he leaves us will get the likes of Leicester, Leeds, or clubs being relegation threatened offering him good wages and hefty survival bonuses - because he will do the ugly stuff better than most like Allardyce.

For me dyche isn't the manager to take us to where we want to be but he has stopped us going where we don't want to be. Thats fine, but I don't think he is the type of person to become expensive. It's not him.

I hear what you are saying & I agree to an extent.

I have my issues with him & after Chelsea I found myself focusing on my issues with him more than what I think he does well.

Stepping back from it all though, he has actually done a far better job than we expected.

As for his style - he has never been in a position to build a squad, Burnley were skint & we haven’t given him anything to build anything. If a Martinez type coach took over Burnley before Dyche, they would go down. Kompany tried to play expansive football with them in the prem & they have been battered.

I’m not saying Dyche can do it but he deserves to be given a chance & hopefully these last 4 games he can try to get the team player a nicer brand of football.

Yep. Absolutely no way offer new contract.  He's here to do a specific job whilst we are in a certain state.

i hope there is no reason to play this brand of football much longer.... needs must and all that but we need an overhaul.

I would like to hope he gets a good run of games next year to consolidate us as mid table and even look to expand on the style of football.

  8. Football is a results business, after the Chelsea game I was more than concerned that we were on a downward spiral. I never expected us to win the next 2, especially with the dreaded home derby as one of those games.

4 games left for the season, let’s build now & go on a run that instills hope for the next season. (The only loss I am somewhat okay with is against Arsenal if its costs Liverpool the title).

Proud of them all today & hope we see more results like this.
