Beto most similar. Chermiti Looks like he's got unreal core strength - holds the ground well.

I think Chermiti is quite technical as well, he can do a bit with the ball at his feet as well. Not ready to be an out & out starter but he has good potential.

I can see Martinez leaving Villa in the summer for a Barca/Real profile. I can see Villa coming in for Pickford.

I can see him going on to a big club like that as well. Villa dont mind spending some money as well. I don't want to lose Pickford but his value is only going to go down from here on in. We have to get the replacement right though. Onana is the easiest to replace of the 3 we could be selling, for example Ndidi on a free would be good business.

David Coote is on VAR for this game and he's from Nottingham.

I wonder if we'll complain .

It would be quite funny if we were to say to the PL “in light of recent complaints, we are concerned about having an official who is from the area of a relegation rival in critical position”

With 5 Draw's in the last 6 Goodison Derby's it's not all doom and gloom but a win is a rare occurrence.

4 of the last 6 have also been 0-0 including last seasons match.

Liverpool have gone 6 games without a clean sheet with the last coming away at Forest back on 2nd March.

Everton's last win at Goodison v Liverpool was back in 2010 with a 2-0 win (Arteta and Cahill)

With (probably) only 1 more Goodison derby after this and it likely being the last night game at Goodison versus the neighbors it would be brilliant if we could come away with the win that would surely seal our safety.  History clearly doesn't favour us with 14 years since the last win and only 1 win home or away in that whole time.

The big concern fitness wise will be on Calvert-Lewin.  He had issues against Forest but asked to be given 5 minutes then went off.  He seemed mobile enough but I'm sure they will want to be careful with him given his recent injury problems.  Beto will be out after his concussion on Sunday.  I thought Chimitti got stuck in well for the short period he had but hopefully DCL will be fit and he will just be required as a sub.

Young HAS TO BE DROPPED! - He was caught out too many times at the weekend and realistically should have given away at least 1 penalty.  up against Diaz out wide he will be skinned.  If Coleman isn't fit then I'd play Garner at right back though I expect Dyche will opt for either Young or go with Godfrey.

                  Pickford

    Coleman       Tarks  Branthwaite     Mykolenko

                        Gueye   Onana/Garner

                             Doucoure

                                  DCL

Although it was good to see Gomes start I think in a game where we would expect to be limited possession wise we will favour a more combative player in either Onana or Garner.

I'm going to break from the tradition of 0-0's but i'm not confident of a win.  Liverpool struggle to keep the goals out so think we can get one.

    1-1

Tarkowski with the goal for us

Gomes is not renowned for his running but he puts in more of a shift than Onana.

3 man midfield of Gana Gomes & Doucoure (work ethic gets him in)

Is Coleman fit? Even if he is, Garner definitely do a job at RB. We need energy & mobility in that wide positions, Coleman & Young will get ripped apart.

Upsets happen in football, I just hope we go in to this one with high intensity & a positive mindset.

I was agreeing with you totally. Like I said in the matchday thread, I thought we played some good stuff. For both goals we were passing it around beforehand (more so for the second goal, where the passing had more purpose).

We just don't do it over long periods during games.

Sorry mate I wasn’t implying you weren’t, more so that it wasn’t a clinical performance in possession but definitely an improved on.

I was really disappointed we went away from it in the second half. Shame about Dele this year as he would contribute greatly to the team playing that way.

Love the optimism, but I don't think he'll ever be a major asset anywhere

Sadly I agree. I want to say lack of consistent minutes, adapting to the league ect ect but for such a big lad I really expected him to bully defenders more.

Not writing him off but his physical attributes have not been impressive enough to outweigh his expected technical flaws.

Sometimes, I think our anxiety over our current situation sometimes makes us view games in a skewed way.

Like yesterday, we were actually fairly comfortable and the better side for the most part, but because conceding one goal can be so damaging for us I couldn't really enjoy anything about the game.

Yeah I agree mate & I’m not suggesting we were knocking it around like prime Barcelona however, there did seem to be a shift in tactics.

Our wing play remains absolute dogshit though. Crying out for someone with a bit of pace.

I'm still not convinced in how we play. Still think we are 50% reliant on other teams below us being poo.

there was spirit today which is good but we are not a very well coached team in possession and it scares me. Another day and we lose that with Pickford and the ref/var

I thought in the first in particular there were plenty of good passing moments, players looking for space and playing the ball forward.

Agree it wasn’t a straight forward 2-0 but a good result nonetheless.

He's been released from hospital and all his tests were clear.

Glad to hear, saw his post on his Instagram confirming he is okay.

Said in the match day thread but that was his best showing for us in my opinion. Fought for everything & the ball stuck to him a lot better.

  10. Gana, had everything to his game & worked non stop.

Gomes got us ticking over - set piece delivery was shocking however.

Myko - special mention for this lad. Tactically it was clear McNeil was instructed to find space in the centre, which I don’t mind. Myko held that side of the pitch on his own for the most part & made a superb covering run to prevent a chance. He lacks some ability but he is all heart.

Just saw a replay of the Beto injury and McNeil's reaction, then cuts to Dyche telling him to calm down.

Not a fan of that at all. Was just up close with what I'm assuming was a very traumatic thing to see, telling someone to calm down is not the way to go about things

I think that’s exactly the manager & the senior players role in those moments. It’s very distressing to see a team mate injured in that sense but there is still a job to do & focus required.

Re watching the highlights and having a laugh as Gana scored. I said last as he it came out to him “don’t you even dare you gimp leg fuck” only for him to plant it in the bottom corner 😂😂
