  1. Now we just need Young out of the team and we start to try and play some football.
  2. I am adamant we only got the penalty against Newcastle because Ashley Young carried on about it & made a scene. It’s an absolute shambles the VAR process, you’ll only get a decision like that if you milk it - which is everything that’s wrong with football.
  3. I want Beto to succeed, the idea of us having strong, pacey center forward is very much how I see Everton. In moments, he looks rapid but then in showings like Burnley he looks like a center back thrown uptop. That moment he was in behind and clear should be his absolute bread & butter, the initial run in behind was great but what followed was piss poor. Is it confidence / lack of game time? Or is it, as I'm starting to feel - someone who just is not at this level?
  4. Doucoure definitely cares mate. I'm not a fan of him as a footballer technically speaking but I won't fault his hear or effort. Onana is a tough one, he has moments or glimpses where he can run the midfield on his own but then puts in a tedious job back on a counter. I'll give him benefit of the doubt but I definitely want to see more from him, as we know he can do it but it will only increase his price when he undoubtedly leaves.
  5. His urgency to get back and throw a tackle in was great. I hope Onana was watching it.
  6. Said it in the match day thread about the crowd. If there’s one thing our lot appreciate is someone working their guts off & it will never go unnoticed.
  7. I can really see us getting something from that game. We have an interesting 4 games in quick succession coming up. Chelsea, Forest, Liverpool & Brentford. Imperative that we take points from Forest & Brentford. Chelsea have a cup tie as mentioned above whilst Liverpool have a UCL away day, trip to Fulham & then play us at Goodison in the space of a week. (Whilst also playing West Ham 2 days after us) There is an opportunity to pick up points from places we didn’t expect to get points here.
  8. Well it’s a win but we made that so much harder than it needed to be. Winless run ended so hopefully that leads to more consistent points.
  9. The crowd responding to McNeils 1 man press just shows how much we value honest effort
  10. Fuck we needed that as well
  11. 2 massive chances there. Great ball from Gomes
  12. What goal! Vintage Dycheball
  13. Burnley aren’t causing us problems, we are causing our own problems here.
  14. Young is absolutely shite
  15. Some good passing play here. All of which has involved Gomes.
  16. Cracking a whiskey now mate
  17. Yeah I feel this way, it’s a 1am kick off so I don’t think I’ll sleep, probably just get hammered actually! Missus is on night shift so at least she won’t have to watch me mentally break down in the lead up.
  18. Oh mate I had this dumb look of disbelief when I saw Godfrey & Young together on the right hand side.
  19. Agree. I do see what you are seeing to an extent Haf, my issue with Onana is on the occasion when he is trotting back to defend a counter attack. This guy seriously could run a midfield on his own. My opinion, in the first 15 or so minutes, he seemed like the only player in our team having a go.
  20. Multiple top top saves that are almost considered routine for him now.
  21. To be fair that short pass he gave away, he was given a hot pass in a tight area. I think Onana looked the most likely at the start to try and dominate the game. If we can get him going at his best, a midfield of Onana, Garner & Gomes could really dominate. I hope we start with those 3 against Burnley. If we are chasing a result, throw Doucoure on for the chaos balls in to the box because he has a real knack for a chance falling to him.
  22. It’s just too many players who lack real technical ability on the ball. Onana is best of them and a midfield with him, Gomes & Garner could move the ball nicely but Gana showed up today defensively. We just need players to start doing it consistently.
  23. To be fair to him, he ran himself in to the ground tonight. All I’ll say, is we looked a lot more like an actual football team when Gomes & Garner came in to midfield. Gana had some loose moments on the ball as per usual but he buzzed around. Onana had some decent moments on the ball but strolled around. We deserved the point from that, much better performance from the squad & credit Dyche for the triple change.
