  1. It's an obviously a made up rumour with zero credibility. And what's more, the player in question isn'tt even that good so what's the point with these "nope, not for me" type of messages?
  2. Why is anyone taking this seriously? Does this strike you as a Brands signing? If yes, then carry on. If not, what's the point in discussing this?
  3. Yes, growing the overseas support is key, but the difference to the big clubs is enormous and finding that support when we finish seventh & haven't won anything in 24 years is difficult. And by growing I mean multiply the numbers, not just increase by xx%.
  4. Not sure what you mean by "great indicator of future revenue potential". EFC had less than 1 million website visits, so 49% is less than half a million. Look at that other lot, they had almost 7 million visitors of which 66% were foreign, meaning about 4,5 million visitors, about ten times more.
  5. Think about it this way: when you sit your legs take one place and your arse another (or two if you're a lard arse).
  6. Problem with Wan-Bissaka is he'd cost something like 40 million. As the team needs strenghtening up top, right wing and midfield something's gotta give. The club can't buy a 40 million player to every position.
  7. Apparently he's mates with Mina and he's not too expensive. Release clause is 20 million euros. Looks an obvious replacement for Gana. Spurs are also rumoured to be interested.
  8. Yeah, PSG is really not worried what UEFA or FIFA say or do. They break the rules and then threaten to go to court against those organizations if they complain.
  9. Clubs are less reluctant to sell in the middle of the season. So there are fewer players available and prices are higher.
  10. Just watched first episode of Sunderland 'til I die. There's an example what happens when you plan for the short term.
  11. And obviously there's a difference between buying a player to win the title versus buying a player to finish seventh.
  12. Nope. Short term we can take a step back but if we jeopardise the long term for a short term gain it's much worse. For example Tosun. Wages and fee means club will spent around 40 million on him. That so we got a short term boost. Walcott likewise.
  13. Ferguson didn't exactly leave the club in a good spot, though. They are still trying to get back because for the last few seasons he wasn't interested in the long run anymore. And Manchester United can afford to throw 30 million away on a short-term solution.
  14. I don't think so. Brands's plans are for the long term. Buying a 30+ year player is very short-term. His business plan seems to be to buy players before they hit their prime. I'm pretty sure part B is to make a profit on them. This is what he did at PSV very well and what he seems to be saying in any interviews.
  15. Everton is not going to sign 30+ players any more. That's not how Brands operates.
  16. You have no idea of the costs unlike the people who make these decisions. Yet you think you are the expert here.
  17. Girona midfielder Pere Pons apparently was at the game yesterday as he posted about it on his Instragram.
  18. Newcastle are the only club in town, though. And stadium size won't matter if we are to climb beyond them. That extra few million per year means nothing at all when you consider their revenue is about twice as big.
  19. Plus how much more tourism do they get? And everyone wanting a 60k stadium, bear in mind that even if those 10k extra seats were sold out every game ticket income would only increase by 6-8 million per season. A modest hike in prices could generate 10 million, assuming they are all still sold. Considering revenue will soon be 200 million it's hardly going to transform the club. And obviously it would cost close to 100 million (current estimate for a seat for the 52k stadium is £7k and Meis has said the last 10k is always the most expensive) which would have to be paid back as well. For a 40 year loan it would mean 2,5 million per year plus interest, which would mean somewhere between three and four million. Refreshments add a bit to that but since number of tourists at the match is lower than, say that other lot's, an average Everton fan don't spend as much at the match. Overseas fans visiting will spend money on scarves, shirts, programmes etc. They might buy a cuppa but just getting them to buy their pints from the stadium instead of a pub on the way to and from the match is a big task. The big difference between GP and BMD in any case are the executive boxes. GP is desperately short in this regard. BMD can have plenty of them. And this is the real kicker. Club will be able to sell tons more boxes, especially because it's a new stadium at a great location.
  20. I don't think this position is one we need to spend heavily on right now.
