Arrogant prick. How did the story get out?! Because it's their tactics to unsettle the player.

Problem between Everton and stones... fuck off Jose.

Can't argue with Pogba, they massively misjudged his potential.

I just don't think they will let Jones go on a free.

Of course our very own TC is going to be a world beater, know you agree with me there Romey

Please fuck all these shite analogy's off. He is not a phone operator, he is not a cake and he isn't a car . He is however a talented footballer

Can he still make a difference on the pitch? I think the answer is yes so we should keep him

    Simples!

None of those are Everton bred one club stalwarts though, few and far between in the game nowadays and I'm proud that we have two of them. Really hope he and Hibbo stay at the club in one capacity or another for many years, and IMO they both still have something to offer as players.

You mean keeping a seasoned, well respected, cheap and adequate back up around for the extra body? Not to mention one of the most important members of the dressing room and a tremendous example to the youngsters coming through.

Its got nothing to do sentimentality. Players are not just there for the 90 minutes on the pitch, they play a massive part in how the club is defined and exists. Gettin rid of stalwarts like Hibbert because they're getting on is very short sighted,

So long as he's a sub, no problem with him getting a new contract. He's made a big difference when he's come on, between him and Pienaar we're really struggling with a player with quick feet.

So that's Besic and McCarthy goosed... why can't these things happen to Gareth Barry? :shaking fist:

I agree with this - he was the best thing since sliced bread a year or so ago. Just like Ashley Young was the worst a year or so ago.

He would flourish at a club where the fans don't expect every player to be the next Rio, Scholes, Beckham, Ronaldo or RVN.

Sterling is a different case though. That price was artificially inflated by the Shite. Sterling would be 20M max for me. City are stupid enough to have paid the premium that also includes the QPR sell on.

I find it difficult to understand how we would pay 7M for Evans in his last contract year when Spurs were looking for 6M for Lennon. From what I'm reading they now value Lennon at 9M - madness.

I'll defer to Martinez on this one. I would just really prefer us not to buy him at all.

Nah you see what happened is I sold £50 Grands worth of valuables in the knowledge that I wanted a top car. I was loaned my mates alfa Romeo and despite seeming like it was the business to start with it wasn't what I needed, had too many teething problems. I had my eye on a BMW m3 which was cheaper but somehow the order got ballsed up and now stuck with the alfa.

I'm kinda hoping that when it comes back from its service it drives like the m3 but I'll have to hope.

Apparently some people think I can get my money back on it but I'm not sure...

My worry (as expressed before) is that if we don't strengthen adequately to compete this year, I can see the likes of Stones, Lukaku and possibly Barkley leaving to pastures new.

We have the base foundations of some incredible young talent, there's no question but to keep them together, you have to start winning things or at least show that you're ambitious.

At present, the sounds bytes that have come from the club, is that we're 'OK'. We got the people we wanted in (fantastic prices for both Tom & Geri) but is that going to be enough? Not for me. I also don't see them as guarenteed first teamers either. So for me, we've improved the squad, not the team.

It's the team we need to look at now. We have plenty of aging, reliable professionals who can step in when a first teamer is out, but we still need to get a stronger starting 11 IMO.

The beginning of our season (due to the difficulty of our fixtures) will either be a springboard to greater things or the equivalent of a firing line. ALL young players work best on confidence. Cock-sure, arrogance, that Martinez likes. But that doesn't exist after 4/5 defeats on the bounce. We need to start strong, then I think our younger players will excel. We need players who are top level performers. Who can aid/carry the youngsters through the hard times, keep them firing on all cylinders through the tough times. Otherwise, we'll see the Ross Barkley of last year. Inconsistent and 'shot' of confidence. A play-maker who links Ross, Rom, McCarthy, Deulofeu together, to perform as well as we know they can be.

For that though, we need investment in the team. The board HAVE to dig deep and accept to improve, we have to spend some significant amount of cash.

I'm not expected 3/4 £15m players. Just for areas like goalkeeping to be addressed. £5m for Ospina? Yes please. £20/25m for someone like Calhanoglu (not a realistic target, I get that)? Will have to be spent, if you want the quality to push on.

The board ARE happy to tread water. But that's a dangerous game with our current crop of young, potentially excellent but also very ambitious youngsters.

Don't feed their hunger for silverware/titles, you'll lose them. Simple.

Feed the team, feed the hunger.

A few points I need to make.

We don't know how much money everton do or do not have to spend on players.

Just because some clubs are being public about the bids for players, it doesn't mean they have more to spend than we do.

Just because we have not gone public with our bids (we very rarely do that) does not mean we are not bidding for players.

The big TV money does not come in until next season. So clubs splashing the cash now have borrowed money against next summers payment. We do this every year ourselves, but pay millions in interest.

We have actually signed some players already.

Would it be better if we paid £20m for Gerry so we can look all flash?

Should we be bidding £15m for average strikers, or £10m for average midfielders like a lot of other clubs are doing?

Maybe relax, the players have only just gone back to training. Plenty is going on that we are not, and should not be, aware of.

I don't trust the board to make big decisions on the future of the club. I don't trust them on a commercial level. But in terms of getting a the signings done, they are actually pretty good at it. It will be fine.

Mark, this one is just for you mate. Calm the fuck down, I just lost a lot of time in my life reading your take on the current transfer situation. It's not worth worrying about, it always turns out in the end. We want players according to the rumours, the sign for other clubs, then we do better than them. It's all part of the process.
