At the end of the day Wenger has just been quoted as saying he will not pay over five million for a player rated at £15.6 million by his club becaause in January he is free to talk to other clubs on a free transfer as he is the last year of his contract just like Senderos. So going by that why would we offer 5 million for a player in exactly the same position but is not valued at anywhere near 15 million?? 3 million i think is a fair price.

Loan deal would have been ideal 18 months ago but we wouldnt risk an injury prone player with medical staff that dont know him better than our staff. This season is make or break.

Considering Pompey want 4.5 million for Distin who is seven years older, Hull value Turner at 12 mill and Newcastle want 10 plus for Bassong who have had one good season i think anything under 5 million would be a shrewd buy. I've been thinking that due to the alledged top targets Moutiniho, Defour etc are all with clubs who have all qualified for champions league and are eager to keep their top players. Will they be willing to let them go after they are probably knocked out of the group stages and thats what we are waiting for? That way Moyes can bulk up the squad with loans and cheap signings and hope the injured players are back on schedule to pick up the slack. He obviously would have been encouraged the way the squad finished the season and thinks we can be in the mix (top six) ready to invest and make a charge. I'm not saying its right or wrong but it could be whats going on.

I started this topic and its interesting to see both sides but as much as i feel shiiite about the lack of activity i cannot see how the board will leave us and Moysie hanging with no star signings.Granted City have smashed everybody in the transfer window and still will but i hope, hope we find some dough to buy the two quality signings we need and three or four free/loan signings we are competing for top four again

Is it just me or due to our lack of transfer activity can anybody be bothered? I know loads of clubs havn't spent any dough but i really think we arn't gonna spend big and its killing me that i just feel apathetic over the whole transfer window.

Richards is not a right back. Just like Lescott is not a left back he can just play there if asked.
