  1. Keep meaning to ask, but do you have the winners for previous seasons @MikeO? Would be good to see who have been the ToffeeTalk Players of the Season for the time that this place has been around (which is surely a good 10-15 or so years now?). Would be a nice little nostalgia trip. On topic, Ben Godfrey.
  2. Not that this was ever really on the cards, but news gathering pace that Aguero has signed a two year deal with FC Barcelona that will be announced after the Champions League final, for those that are interested Memphis Depay (Lyon, ex-Manchester United) is close to joining too. Both are out of contract so will cost Barcelona £0 in transfer fees.
  3. Doucoure and Allan in the middle makes me happy . Hoping that Charlie can get a goal tonight, would really boost his confidence and get him going again, he seems to be doing everything right but scoring at the moment.
  4. I don't think that Marco Silva is a bad manager by any means, I just don't think he's an elite manager - something that we all wanted to get us to the next step. I have to say I was a bit uninspired when we signed Silva, but respected the clubs thinking and got behind him. Whereas I wouldn't go as far as to say he was a total disaster I do think that he reached the limits of what he could achieve and probably wasn't going to take us further, by the time he was sacked it was beyond time to go too as we'd clearly been to a crossroads and the players had taken a different direction to Silva and his coaching team. His time at Estoril cannot be underestimated, getting a small club that was fighting relegation in the second tier into the top flight is a great achievement and he's had success with Sporting and Olympiacos since, it's just that those are the clubs that I think Silva's level is at. Throw him back into Portugal or Greece and he'll probably do very well, managing a team in England or Germany that expect Champions/Europa League football? Questionable. I hold no ill feeling towards Marco I must say, comes across as a very nice guy and seems to have no ill feeling towards Everton - he just wasn't good enough IMO. Thinking back I was under the impression that JPG was intended to be Gana's replacement but I could be wrong, he's been injured for that long so I've totally forgotten what his purpose was - probably a replacement for Alan Ball when he retired.
  5. Taylor Swift is fantastic, Folklore is a brilliant album. (we can lose forum coolness points together Mike...) I must admit I was never really a fan of theirs, but their latest album (For Those Who Wish to Exist) is fantastic, thought that the orchestral version of ''Animals'' was a nice little spin too (seems that a lot of bands are doing orchestral stuff now, think it's all stemmed from Bring Me The Horizon doing a full set with one). Unless of course you mean actual architects, in which case I'm no builder either ...
  6. As someone who spent a year or two living in Wrexham I'm made up with what has happened to them, they seem to have two great owners and could hopefully be heading in the right direction up the leagues. If only the Glazers, Kroenke, Levy etc had the same mentality. Or those that oversaw the burning of Portsmouth, Charlton, Bury etc.
  7. Indeed, it's awarded when the league has been won. Hence why United lifted it at Goodison despite having a home game the week after. Edit: On reflection, the above might be bollocks . Actually do remember that RVN penalty though, one of the worst dives I've ever seen.
  8. They play the Champions League final six days later, so I think they'll play their reserves (who are admittedly capable of beating anyone) in what is a dead rubber for them.
  9. Bodes well though, keep up that away form and sort our home games with the crowd back and we're laughing. I know that the away games will have fans too but still, something to be optimistic about. 72pts (36 from each) would put us 2nd and just 8pts behind Manchester City.
  10. Massive three points and if I'm being honest I didn't think we would take any, regardless of their historic positions West Ham are a side that's taken good points this season so a great result to go to London and back with maximum points. The fact that they never had a shot on target says it all, had we scored a second I'd have watched with my sunglasses and flip flops on, we just never looked like conceding. Coleman MOTM.
  11. Open goal, edge of the six yard box and he hits the fucking post. Shite from King that. Delph on, not exactly inspiring (especially as Doucoure is on the bench) but hopefully keeps himself out of trouble.
  12. He's played alright, but Gylfi off for Doucoure is a change that I could get behind right now, steady the ship for the last 20 minutes. In a perfect world, counter against tired legs with DCL & Charlie.
  13. Oh my giddy arse. Yerry Mina off injured , I really like him but his inability to stay fit would lean me towards selling him this summer - would absolutely lose my shit with happiness if the rumours about Napoli wanting to swap Koulibaly with him are true. Holgate on, I could cry.
  14. DCL is winning absolutely everything in the air, love to see it. Flicking on time and time again and Richarlison unlucky not to score there. As others have said, fucking excellent challenge from Davies - referee has been shite so far.
  15. This referee is a bit of a saucepan isn't he? Don't seem to be winning many decisions and those that do come are given after a 48 minute delay. Great FK from Gylfi, just a shame it wasn't further in the corner. A second goal would have been unbelievable as since scoring, West Ham have really slotted into second gear.
  16. He has that many grid penalties that he may well start tomorrow's race from Bahrain. As much as the grid drop in itself is a bit pointless, he has had another point added to his licence (which if he gets too many, will result in him being banned from a race). If his struggles so far this season haven't been bad enough, we've got Monaco next.
  17. I was going to reply to this with how much a pint was in my local, but then realised it's been over a year and I couldn't remember !!
  18. All those children running downstairs on their birthday to unwrap their QR code . The changes won't affect me, as I'll be paying the small charge for a physical ticket, I've kept all of mine and will continue to do so. Having the ticket on a mobile just doesn't make sense to me - if your phone dies you basically can't get into the ground? What if the app fails to open due to a glitch? What if it's internet based and your connection goes down? Solving a problem that was never there IMO, a bit like changing the font on the seats or changing the colour of the escalators.
  19. I'm not even going to let myself get annoyed about it, as stated earlier it's amazing how terrified the governing bodies are of the "Big 6". From Day One you just knew there would be zero punishment, with at best a fine that in relative term would be pennies. It's been this way for a while for me; love Everton, pretty much hate the "sport" that they play within as it's riddled with backstabbing, corruption and money spinning. My interest in Everton and football as a game will never, ever die as I love it/them too much. But I just cannot get on board with the whole business side of things - it makes me genuinely not that arsed about breaking into the Champions League as it's just more games in what is a money exercise for UEFA. Long gone are the romantic days of European success, it's all about breaking into these competitions for social media likes, inflated sponsorships and fans being treated as cash-cow customers. There is a part of me that was a bit dissapointed that the Super League didn't go ahead, so that the "Big 6" could eventually fuck off to their European friendly tours and we could get back to what domestic football should be. Edit: Also, the Glazers liable for between €5-10m when their net worth is estimated at around $3bn . Don't do it again lads!
  20. Indeed, 3rd place with a game to go. As things stand will play Portsmouth in the play-offs with a final against either Sunderland or Lincoln City. I'd love Blackpool to be back in the Championship (and then the Premier League). Found them to be a decent bunch when they were in the top flight and managed to get down to a game when Everton weren't playing a few years ago, in their ''derby'' against Morecambe which they won 3-0. Despite the town itself being a bit of a shithole, it's a footballing place that I'd like to see doing well. Ellis Simms doing well also is of course an added bonus!
  21. For me it's incredibly close at left-back as I adore both Baines and Digne, so they'll have to play 45 minutes each. I've also thrown Landon Donovan in there as during his first stint with the club, he was absolutely unplayable. It's such as shame that he couldn't get out of his contract with the LA Galaxy and stick around with us, I'd put money on him becoming a real player for us had he managed to make his move permanent. It's so unfortunate that in his second stint, he never really got going. I can remember us beating Hull City 5-0 at Goodison and he basically ran the show, could have stuck ''Messi 10'' on his back and nobody would have noticed the difference. The rest is a little bit easier however; Howard (GOAT ) Coleman - Godfrey - Distin - Baines / Digne Fellaini - Allan - Cahill Donovan - Richarlison DCL
