  1. Tom Cannon thought the Kirby stadium move was a good idea. He is used as a consultant to the board.... I have no faith in anything he says.
  2. If you normalise the numbers by taking out player sales, tv revenue and look at our commercial performance it's not great. For me a stadium move is a must. The club needs a 60,000 seater with state of the art refreshment areas and or half time ordering cashless system that allows all fans the option of getting a beer or hot dog etc. This will boost revenue significantly.
  3. Read any interview from a pro who has had a long term injury and they really do go through it. Self doubt, depression, loneliness. Some say it's a relief when they get told its over.
  4. Morally he should play for a reduced amount if that's the case. However I'm certain insurance is covering us which may be why we haven't played him.
  5. I think he's being managed right. You can't throw him into competetive football without the knee standing up to the rigours of training first.
  6. yeah pretty much like that. Ossie is a loyal servant - but who wouldn't be picking up £30k+ for 10 years.
  7. He will come good for Liverpool. A bit daft the way he is being victimised. People call for people to turn over a new leaf and then don't offer them the chance to do it. He will link up well with Sturridge
  8. I found lescott to be a reliable full back in a centre half mold - not quite able to compete over the first 5-10 yards aswell as Baines, but he did manage to cut out crosses once he got moving. As Mike said, his goal threat was as a good headerer in set piece situations. Baines is the modern day wing back - awesome energy and technical ability.
  9. Its a perfectly valid point to make. In a competitive match a player is far more likely to overload a ligament or muscle which isn't right. Read Paul Lakes book - pure example of how a rushed and botched recovery ruins a player.
  10. Lescott was like a stopper at left back. Baines even though a little off what he should have been had great energy and attacking flair. Moyes valued defence over attack. Been the best Everton player over past 7 years - best fitness levels I have seen since Gary Stevens/Ratcliffe. James McCarthy however look a new contender to that throne - pure athlete.
  11. Agreed. If Moyes came in with a £45m bid to start off proceedings then fans may have been far more tolerant and maybe £48m at the time would have seemed fair. A £28m joint bid was a disgrace - the comments afterwards were worse. Some apologists tried to make out it wasn't Moyes and was his Chief Exec - i'm sorry but he had the opportunity to say "transfer dealings should remain private and I trust my chief exec to broker the right deals" - but no he tried no way to say it wasn't him with the offer. Ossie did well out of Moyes. I do like Leon but his comments whilst playing for the club are a little unwise.
  12. If he left all the "opinion" stuff out and just spoke of the lads giving TC a standing ovation to take the mickey then I think we would have got the message. It does appear a little daft that TC came out at the end, to be honest i'm glad he did. The whole Moyes thing just wasn't right. Storm in a teacup though if i'm honest.
  13. Well they have found their scapegoat anyway. I actually don't think he's anywhere near as bad as they make out. Need to look at their manager IMO.
  14. The more "agressive" Rom becomes then I see us being able to play 2 strikers. At the moment Rom will make runs etc, but when he's engaged with the opposition players its as though he doesn't want to hurt them. I want him scaring them the way Big Dunc did, I want to see him throwing them to the ground like Dunc did against Ince in the derby. He needs to be an Alpha male up there. Rooney had that at the age of 17, its not an age thing, its a mindset. The game will become so much easier.
  15. I just think Eto is fine as a 9 or a 10. He scored the 3rd with Rom off the pitch and almost his hat trick with Rom off the pitch. So I don't think he is dependent on Lukaku at all. He is just getting fitter, so I expect to see him improve more so. He drops deep when we don't get the ball to him and he makes things happen . I watched him play the lone striker role for Chelsea last year and bang in a hat trick against man United. He can play across the front, off the striker or as a lone striker. Sheer class.
  16. I don't think anyone has said Barkley is perfect, his bad moments are usually brain farts as opposed to lack of ability. What we are talking about with Rom is the lack of ability in controlling a football. The issue with Barkley is usually a poor decision which will come with experience. Both young lads and will improve.
  17. Following on from Glenn Hoddles comments about "Technical development" - I can't help but agree with him on his "kick the ball against a wall" drills. He said he tuned his passing skills and touch by spending hours kicking the ball at different heights and weights. Would it benefit Romelu? It can't hurt him to do this. Not sure about how much he can improve at his age but for me he has to spend intensive time working on this. His pass to their player yesterday was a mixture of complete mindlessness and an inability to deal with a ball with his first touch. Its no different to having a cricketer who can't catch very well. Sometimes you may only get one chance at catching a Brian Lara shot and if you mess it up he can go on to score 150 runs. Yesterday was an example of how costly it can be to not have sharp fundamental skills. We got away with it, Rom nabbed a goal which took the burden off him. But really he has got to work on his feet. Eto gave a master class yesterday. He has as Big Dunc described himself having - "chewing gum feet".
  18. He does everything you want from a striker. Scores, is creative, looks after the ball. Intelligence. Top player. Mark lawrenson referred to his age as "officially 33" what a tit.
  19. Get 2 years out of eto'o. Snide remarks aside, Lukaku can't not learn from this man.
  20. Class. Tried to use the camber.
  21. He's good isn't he? Control the thing and allsorts.
  22. Seriously, no energy to our play.
  23. This is not good viewing. 3 points is a must first and foremost. Europa does take something out of us. Not that it's excusable.
  24. I think today personifies Rom. Let's just see how he does. I don't feel the need to highlight his development needs, they are clear as day. He loves scoring goals but he needs to tighten his game up. All this x amount of goals by x age and more goals than x y z is nonsense. His poor touch costs us too much. It's about margins at this level. Just hope we can hold out now.
