  1. He's the architpical knob head you work with who makes out they live and breathe the job, takes notes at every meeting, churns out all the buzz words, in half an hour before shift, last to leave, butty at desk and never has a hang over. All of a sudden you have a good stint and you see them giving you funny looks and point scoring shit starts.
  2. Good luck to him if it's true. Still very raw imo but all the attributes. I like the look of mcgeady.
  3. Ha ha, let's hope eh. I'll be honest, to me he was always just a part of the mega money manager merry go round circuit with ancelotti, Capello, hiddink, lippi, and in all honesty the gigs they get it's difficult not to look good. Rooney will fall out with him, guaranteed.
  4. I want him to get his bollocks out, that will make me laugh...
  5. Gotta love the express, they can't get anything right, his wages are £120k a week not £80k a week. It may happen, not too worried though.
  6. He effectively ended his season in September when he was banished to train with the youth team in Russia. He then clearly put some beef on and was rusty. In any normal given circumstance you would equate that to an "end of season" effect on his body. He had basically stopped playing. You wouldn't expect players to come back in August without having been on a pre season training camp and play 90 minutes.... With a pre season behind him and his family settled I expect to see a beast of a player. His feet are electric, so quick its untrue, and he isn't shy of pace. Watch this space, this lad is gonna be great for us.
  7. I knew that was coming. At least it can be said I wasn't a glory hunter, Liverpool had just won the league. I've always said, you can't really be a fan till "you have been to a game" - not necessarily that you need to go to the games, but to get an understanding of the club going the match is the pivotal moment.
  8. I just never bought into his "Look at me, i'm the ultimate professional" act. I reckon a fair few of his team mates found him hard to stomach with his teachers pet mentality.
  9. I was a Liverpool fan, the logic to an 8 year old growing up was "where is Everton" - I didn't even know it was a local team. All I knew was Liverpool is close, had been there shopping and they won things. The first game I went to see was Everton in December 1984 5-0 we won... the rest is history. My brother has always hated the very fact that to a non fan Everton does not tie in with a location. A bit like Arsenal I suppose.
  10. http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/140519-fa-cup-final-30-years-ago-1558483.aspx We beat Watford 2-0 in the FA Cup final. I will be honest, I wasn't a blue at the time, that happened 7 months later. Nice bit of nostalgia... share memories of the day here....
  11. Yep, alcohol degrades Muscle and affects protein synthesis. Apart from that dehydration etc etc. I love a beer, but thejn again i'm not fortunate enough to earn £50k a week being a pro sportsman. Could be worse Rooney is paid £300k a week and has to be the worst conditioned elite footballer i've ever seen.
  12. Because I touched his shoulder whilst trying to have banter with him. Suppose to a 29 year old bloke a 21 year old kid is easy pickings... I suppose in a way I was daft, but surely he can be the bigger man and laugh it off. I would pay good money to see him gettin knocked out, Terrace C eh, never heard anything in the press.
  13. I hold no real hope for that lad, was told by my mate he was absolutely legless in his mates pub the other week, he's supposedly trying to get fit, he was leathered and behaving like an absolute tool. Heard rumours about this before but unfortunately they seem well founded. Given his previous injury record, aligned to his behaviour off the pitch I think he's a bit of a waste.
  14. I would actually pay £4m for him, so for me its a no brainer. He would be perfect back up for McCarthy or Barry, and Barry has needed games off last season.
  15. Live in Bromborough, pop up to the glegg or Devon Doorway every now and then. I actually got kicked off on by Paul Ince when I was 21 (he would have been 29/30), I was in the Grange and tried to have banter with him about the upcoming derby, I said "Dacourt is gonna boss the midfield" and put my arm on his shoulder to which he kicked off like an absolute beaut. The barmaid shook her head and told me that he was an arrogant sod who had just tried to tell her how he could have her if he wanted. I enjoy hearing about the stories of him behaving like he is the Guvnor of Heswall, there is always someone quite happy to show him that he ain't all that and I look forward to the day that he gets sparked out.
  16. Based on your rational we were lucky to get more than £15m for Rooney, we nearly got relegated in his last season for us.
  17. So, you are actually saying that £12m only gets you a decent player... but you are expecting us to get better players for less? Hence Colback being sniffed at on a free.... Your rational does not stand up. Either we need big money to improve the squad to the level you expect or we operate as we are, getting solid supplementary players in to give us depth.
  18. Would you say we payed over the odds at £14m?
  19. If decent means a 23 year old who plays with a maturity years beyond his age, who is tactically more advanced than anyone else in the team bar Barry then ok I need to review definitions. If he was called James Makelele playing for Chelsea then they would have had 5 minute analysis sessions on him on MOTD showing the untrained eye how valuable he is to the team, letting others play. To put it into context Leon Osman wasnt even anywhere near the first team at his age, this lad is going to get better and better. I've seen better defensive midfield performances from him this season than I did from Fellaini. Maybe McCarthy needs to start chesting the ball more, do the odd pirouet and throw his elbows all over the show to get recognised.
  20. The first 5 you mentioned never seen United, Spurs, Chelsea etc after them... that market was 8-10 years ago, in todays prices the £4m each we payed for Baines and Lescott is £10m a piece. Colback is a very capable "Ball playing" footballer who has legs and is combative, he offers cover at left back, left mid, centre mid. Another player in the James McCarthy "I didn't realise he was that good" bracket.
  21. well you know what the solution is dont you? Provide Martinez with £100m in order to buy players... unless that solution is available then i'm afraid we are going to have to get used to the "SQUAD" players we are linked with. You don't see Man City or Chelsea moaning about being linked with players who aren't top 15 in the world - they realise that they need 24 players and you can't keep in the first team. These players will be squad players, look at our bench - we have no one to cover for McCarthy or Barry, no one to cover for Lukaku - next season is going to be a massive drain on resource and "free" players are the easiest way of insuring the team.
  22. Hilarious this, imagine the father and son ego boom in the Ince household right now... should have had a pint in Heswall this weekend, no doubt Dad and Lad would have been out lording it on their mobile phones with a cheeky bottle of chardonnay resting in an ice bucket. Anything that can get Fat head Ince off our TV screens would please me no end,
  23. The one thing we can offer him above our rivals is a guaranteed start in his favoured central position. He would be an awesome partner for McCarthy.
  24. A 27 year old Nigerian... Its a bit like buying a pint of lager from Wetherspoons, you always have the worry that its past its sell by date and you end up with bad guts.
