That is always a danger but I think financially we are in a better position to keep rising young talent...at the rooney time I think the board needed the cash. Lets hope they want the club to compete up with the best which means keeping the best young talents. Oh and by all acounts, vidarrson is looking very good too. I think we will see Anchiebe muscling his way into the first team, my money is on him taking Beattie's position alongside Johnson....

But....I really don't think we need more strikers. I would love Nugent to come but we have Vaughan on the way back, Anchiebe is going to set the premiership alight this season, Beattie is usually v good and Johnson eager to prove himself, McFadden is there as backup. I don't think we need someone who "might" be good...

Well yes I subscribe, during the season if you miss Match of the Day etc then you can get the highlights on ETV. Player interviews etc hear what players have actually said rather than what is printed in papers. Come on, this is £3.99 a month and is going to the club we love.

OK I saw the game...VDM was OK, promising but lets not get ahead of ourselves. a. We were only playing port vale, the weather was hot and nobody was really pushing themselves. I was more worried about Beattie! He looked unfit and for lack of a better phrase looked as though he couldn't be arsed. lol I disagree with your disagreement...he doesn't bring anything to the England team. The one point I will agree with is his touch it is OK, much better than his heading...apart from his goal I don't think I have seen him head the ball well. He is in the squad for his height, which is not used as he can't head so I just don't see what he brings. As already mentioned, when he plays England look crap. I think Walcott should be played instead, just as Sven wanted to play short Owen with short, ugly, granny boiling Rooney.

Agree with first post, a shame as he seems to play well for Sweden but never did for us. Just not compatable I guess so we were good to get rid.

Why on earth he took crouch is beyond me. The guy IMO is not an international or premiership footballer, he makes me frown whenever I see him play he just isn't great. Yep, agree with you there he seems to have changed things round...but I still give a lot of credit to Moyes. He seems to be able to talk the board round and he is starting to attract very good players.
