  1. Sell Cahill? Are you lot all nutters??? One of you lot said something like "he gets goals but hes not the best midfielder" Well that'll do me. How many of our players are all round players anyway? Maybe Cahill has some defensive frailties but hes such an asset to us we have to keep him. Someone else said "Cahill is a saleable player so we should cash in". SURELY, that fact that you think he is SALEABLE translates to him being a GOOD PLAYER, otherwise he wouldnt be saleable would he. I DESPAIR SOMETIMES.
  2. Most of us seem to think along those lines but it seems those in charge have no intention whatsoever of even entertaining the thought of redevelopment.
  3. Look at me replying to my own post (sad or what). ANYWAY the reason for doing so is to pose another question. The prospect of a ground in SPEKE which has been mentioned again recently (by warren bradley). SO, KIRKBY OR SPEKE???? again I'm leaning towards Kirkby if out of those two. I know that EVERTON fans come from all over Merseyside but I would hazzard a guess and say a majority are from North Liverpool? PLEASE correct me if I am wrong there. So if (IF) that is the case I fail to see how a move to Speke would be anymore beneficial than a move to Kirkby. (and would be a pain for many to get to). (although it may seem like I'm trying to build a case for Kirkby, thats not so, I would rather us stay in the Walton area).
  4. Just wondered what other Evertonians thoughts were on the proposed Kirkby move. Given the choice I think ALL of us would want a new stadium in the Liverpool City Boundaries. Now I know the ground share thing is NOT going to happen. BUT HYPOTHETICALLY speaking, my QUESTION is; Would you prefer our own stadium in Kirkby or to share a stadium in Stanley Park?????? For the record I'm oppsed to Kirkby BUT I'd prefer Kirkby than share with that lot.
  5. Wright-Phillips would be a good signing but we'd never beable to afford him. True hes been crap at Chelsea but he was quality at City. I bet he wished he never moved, surely footballers at the end of the day want to PLAY football
  6. I know its ultimately our fault BUT I tend to think the REF let City back into that game. What was it, the 4th or 5th minute into 3 minutes injury time?
  7. A few people seem keen on Tevez. If we get him I'll be right behind him but god hes an ugly sod. Like a South American Peter Beardsley.
  8. Yep, certainly is a step in the right direction. BUT given that many players seem to set up house in the likes of Formby. Wont it be a bit of a hike to get to the new academy? or are they all going to relocate to Cheshire?
  9. SO it will pick an Everton player at random will it? What if I get Ebbrell? or Brett Angell?? or Vinny Samways? Could I protest about that and get it changed?
  10. As if we didnt already know we were better than evryone else. Weve just got more CLASS than the rest. BUT you watch next season, now that the rich clubs know someone is out there looking at how much is being given to charity they'll be reaching in their pockets.
  11. I cant understand why Beatie has NEVER looked the business since coming to Everton. Hes turned out to be a waste of money. And to think the man thought he could get to the last world cup at one point. That game v Chelsea when he stupidly got himself sent off (basically lashed out simply because he was too damn slow) THAT sums up his stay. He seems like a nice enough bloke but I'll be happy to see him go.
  12. If we play like we did v Arsenal then we should breeze past Villa. Things dont work like that though. Probably 0-1 to Us
  13. A recent post by a Villa fan asked us bliues the following question in another thread "Which team of the following teams are more likeable? Aston Villa, birmingham City or West Bromwich Albion?". Which in my current state of boredom got me thinking; Is there a particular team that us as Evertonians find "more likeable" than any other. Obviously opinions will differ from person to person BUT there may be a particular team that generates more respect. Who would it be? The above Villa question, had everyone saying VILLA were more likeable (but what a choice). ANYWAY, heres my two bobs worth: Without trawling down the lower leagues where there are a few teams that (for no apparent reason) I have a soft spot for eg Aldershot / Chester. Out of the bigger clubs I have always had respect for ARSENAL, probably because Everton v Arsenal was the first game the arl fella took me to (and we beat them). I also seem to remember a Brian Talbot goal knocking the RS out of some cup competition back in late 70's or early 80's. (PLEASE NOTE; I'm talking about respect only. In no way am I suggesting that I have a second club. I support ONE club only- EVERTON. Anyone who has a "second club" is a bit of a wanker in my book.) (Bit of an Inane question, I know. BUT I am bored. Humour me).
  14. Im not familiar with the site were looking at but I'm told that there are some drinking holes but not a hell of a lot. I would guess there would probably be new bars built attached to the ground or somewhere on the site for match days BUT where would we go after the match and into the wee hours of the morning after we twat the RS?? Probably back into town. There must be a few pubs around Kirkby town centre. Once again I dont know from first hand experience BUT a RED mate tells me theres one on Cherryfield drive and a couple near Kirkby train station, HOWEVER this same person also told me LIVERPOOL were going to win the league this season.
  15. 1. The fixture "Everton vs Aston Villa" goes way back. What are your thoughts on the fixture? Have respect for Villa (being fellow founding members etc). I think there are a lot of Evertonians respect them as I remember early 90's at Goodison where attendances were generally below 30,000. But when Villa came for some reason attendances were up (from my memory anyway). 2. What are your current thoughts of Aston Villa and the position of the club in genral. Thought you'd be doing better, youve now got money behind you and a good manager so NO EXCUSES next season. 3. What do you think of the current Aston Villa manager "Martin O'Neill. Hes short and irish. 4. How do you feel your season has been so far? 6th as we speak. Looking confidantly at 5th. (if we beat Villa and The Arse beat the RS, some will be dreaming of 4th) were ON THE UP. 5. Do you think David Moyes is the right man for the job? YEP! hes got a good team together. And besides no-one better would want to come here at present. He is the best we can hope for at the mo. We do need to keep improving though otherwise the vultures will be circling. 6. How many fans are you expected to bring to Villa Park and what sort of atmosphere do you expect. Coz of the win v Arsenal (and general performance) and coz of the importance (re; Europe) there should be a fair few making the trip. 7. Which team of the following teams are more likeable? Aston Villa, birmingham City or West Bromwich Albion. Wolves!! No not really. well, without sounding like I want to give you a big girly kiss on the bottom, its VILLA. 8. The Merseyside derby is often known to be less-heated than other derbies. Is it really that good-natured? Less heated?? I dont think so. There is less of a HATRED towards the fans because we all have mates from the darkside but I still hate LFC. The rivalry is certainly heated but not in an ugly way. Although there are some that dont share my view and their hatred deffo runs deeper.
  16. Apparently theres a spot in Everton (on great homer st i think). How good would that be? The problem is though, we have no money and need a partner. BUT Why dont Tesco open a store in Liverpool??? No we dont want to be a whore to tesco, but i'd rather them than the yanks. The problem many Everton fans have about the proposed move to Kirkby is that its seems a done deal already and any other alternative sites are being ignored. That exclusivity clause is what irks me. We should be looking at ALL POSSIBILITIES.
  17. According to TESCO boss Terry Leahy EVERTON have no alternative but to move to Kirkby. (Liverpool Echo website March 16). He said "it is not possible to stay at Goodison" AND "One day Goodison will fall down and we have to plan for that day". Sounds more and more like a done deal to me. AT LEAST HE SAID that any move would have to have the fans approval, saying "“The case is to be put to the fans, I’m sure when they get to see the plans they will see it as a tremendous opportunity”. Basically they are going to try and brainwash Evertonians over the next year in the hope that we'll change our minds. Bollocks is all I can add. I'm not against a move but am one of the majority who believes we should stay in the City of Liverpool. SAY NO TO KIRKBY. And dont ever let them BRAINWASH you.
  18. ARE YOU HAVIN a LAFF??? We played bloody great. And against one of the best teams in the league! I must admit that last week I thought I'd be happy with a draw. but as soon as the game started you could see we were up for it. The first 5 minutes of our game was better and more exciting than the 90 at the early game at Villa Park. If we can reproduce that sort of performance Eupope is a dead cert. Bolton are on the slide. 5th is in our sights. (spurs might disagree). The RS were SOooo bad yesterday that if there were more games remaining we'd be looking to catch them. Thats it, i'm off, Its way past my bed time.
  19. In the last couple of seasons managers have complained of teams simply playing for a draw. BUT if this penalties thing comes in then SURELY, smaller teams, and teams facing relegation would become MORE DEFENSIVE in the hope of nicking the game on penalties. If this idea is thought out then it will never get any backing. And I believe decisions like this need the backing of the English FA and Scottish FA before they are implemented (is that correct??). Anyway, its all talk and I really dont think it will happen (fuckin hope not).
  20. According to reports in the ECHO "Anfield, Everton and surrounding areas will be transformed with millions of pounds of regeneration money". If moving to Kirkby was an option before then SURELY this news makes it a risk we cant afford to take. Imagine if we went to Kirkby and then Everton/Walton became "transformed" (whatever that means exactly). KIRKBY suddenly sounds even more of a stupid idea than it did before.
  21. Ofcourse we all want to get into Europe by finishing in the top 6, but if 7th is handed on a plate then we should take it. You say not to worry about other clubs and then go on hoping Bolton lose at Man Utd. Slight Contradiction. When I was a young lad I was an optimistic Blue, when I get old I'll probably become a pessimistic Blue like the arl fella but for the moment I'm a Realistic Blue. While I admire the optimistic ones here who seem to think 6 wins out of the remaining games will be simple, I dont share your optimism. I can only see 4 wins ahead. I DEARLY HOPE I'M PROVED WRONG.
  22. The FA CUP draw has been made and you'd have to say Chelsea v Man Utd seems to be the most likely outcome for the FINAL which would open up 7th spot for European football. Now if we cant finish at least 7th from here then something is wrong at EFC. As we know anything can happen in football, So its a bit early to make assumptions and predictions.............................ahhhh, fuck it- EUROPE HERE WE COME!!!
  23. Before the draw I heard one Liverpool fan saying "Man Utd are so jammy I bet they get PSV". I thought, Youve got to be joking. Liverpool are the jammiest of teams around and coz of this I was certain they'd get PSV. AND Lo and behold...........SURELY, SURELY, their run of luck will run out at some point.
  24. Once had a lad sat near me in Bullens Rd who tried to start a chant (bless him), about Tim Cahill to the tune of CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG which as you can imagine went- "Timmy Cahill, Timmy, Timmy Cahill. Timmy Cahill, Timmy Timmy Cahill. OH TIM, Timmy Timmy Cahill, Timmy Timmy Cahill we love you". It wasnt a bad little ditty BUT he really shouldve got his mates to join in with him. Needless to say it faded out into a wimper and was heard no more.
  25. WEST HAM, FULHAM, CHARLTON & PORTSMOUTH are MUST WIN games for us. And hopefully we can pick up a couple of draws in the other games. I realistically cant see us getting more than 14 points in the remaining fixtures. But that should just about see us scrape into the Euro spot.
