  1. These boys would both be tremendous signings for us. Yakubu would bag plenty of goals and fernandes would continue to improve on his already dazzling ability I too noticed Moyes comments about 'situation changing' does this mean we were playing dumb earlier on to avoid getting priced out of the market or could it mean extra cash has been made available?? Then again it could just be a fly away comment, took out of context, that we have all latched onto!!

I'd love to share the optimism amongst my fellow blues, and whilst i truly belive we will reach the UEFA cup again this year, considering the injuries and small nature of the squad, i'll air on the side of caution and say 1-0 or 2-2. I'd actually prefer to play one of the bigger boys on opening day cos we seem to be more up for the game when we do. Even with players missing I still feel we are too strong for them, but recent history suggests we may struggle!! Mind you, if we smash 5 past 'em I will celebrate like fook , but not until then!!! COYB!
  3. I've not really seen Gonzalez in action, so can't really comment. All I would say is that both players would (judging by Manny last year and press info about gonzalez) ease the burden on Arteta. this would be a good thing, as if he gets a big injury we really would struggle to replace him. Whether both are realistic targets though remains to be seen
  4. Having seen the transfer activity over the summer, and the kind of players we have declared an interest in, I assume we'll be reverting back to 4-5-1?? I haven't got a proboem with this as it has proved very successful in recent times. Something like: Howard Hibbert/Jagielka, Lescott, Yobo, Baines Osman/Pienaar, Neville, Carsley, Arteta Cahill AJ With likes of Vaughan, Anichebe, Stubbs, McFadden,VDM ( ) providing the back up/rotation That sound about right??? have I missed anyone really obvious? () Alternatives welcome
  5. I'm not one for getting caught up in hype, but after having seen Baines at the game tonight it does just seem more than a coincidence, that after having a recent bid rejected, the same player is out one of our games. I'd like to see him a Goodison, young, talented and likes to get forward down the left which has got to be a good thing. As for Mccarthy.......quality player.....i'd be surprised if it happened, but you never know
  6. i agree, he's a truly oustanding footballer (who happened to under perform, like his colleagues, last night) IF we could get him it would, on face value be a magnificent signing. And i totally agree with RuffRob, he could be sensationally good or sensationally bad........to be honest.........i'd take the risk. Having said that, like licker points out, we've shown our hand to the world so watch some shite team out bid us........i'll keep dreaming though
  7. I'm in the same boat as Adam, due to living quite a way south. Moving a few miles wouldn't really affect me in those terms. However, i'm not sure what i'll vote for. I love going to Goodison (still get goosebumps every matchday) but as said earlier everton fc is a business and if the business plan says we should move then myabe we should. Don't get me wrong, its really annoying that the shite get permission for a new ground and we don't, but taking a step back i can see why (that hurts to say) If moving gave us the extra revenue for players etc and made us a more appealing prospect for those players and even potential investors than i'd say it must be done. But i'd always have a strong urge to stay at Goodison. Its a tough call but as Craccer said......its gonna happen at some point..........i suppose we should do it whilst we have an excellent manager.........new ground & new manager would be a terrible senario to be in IMO
  8. the worst thing about this is there is another month of checking the internet daily for a sniff of a signing, whilst other 'lesser' clubs spend spend spend. I'm not down hearted yet. As there IS still that month. Just hope i don't look back on Day 1 of the season and say 'what if' You watch guys, we'll call a press conference next week and unveil 6 new quality players that will have us all screaming 'everton doing business the everton way....quiet and effective......Hooray for the blues' ps.....has anyone heard from Mikeo ? ? ?
  9. same as my naysmith views really. tried his best but 'giving your best' doesn't cover your inability to hold onto a football
  10. i hope to see an upturn in beatties fortune to be honest. i reckon he is good enough, he just needs that bit of luck. Considering him and meyde have been given numbers i presume Moyes has given them one more chance, kind of last chance saloon. Lescott will become an even more integral part of the squad this year and for many years to come. New striker for the number 10. . . . nugent or smith (depending on price...not bothered which) is there any realistic chance of baines????? is this paper/forum talk??
  11. Agreed. never one of my favourite players to be honest. he always gave everything, he just wasn't good enough. Good luck to him though, nice comments about us too
  12. thank christ for that. the more i typed the more i thought 'your talking bollocks craig.....stop......now'
  13. i agree, spurs and (unfortunately) newcastle will be there. Bolton are usually up there, plus a promoted team seem to always be there. Plus, at time of those odds, we haven't made any signings, and the others have. Gotta love the bookies!
  14. probably koumas. 3 million in a structered kind of deal might be ok, but not the 6 million the beloved press men keep quoting. he had a big bust up at west brom a while back. he is, IMO, too good for the championship but not sure what level he'd be in the premiership. If we paid 6 million i think it would be to steep. I'd just prefer, which moyes generally does, to have well thought out transfers rather than 'media friendly' ones. By that i mean the likes of parker and barton are loved by the media so clubs (the barcodes) just spend silly money on them, money which i'm not sure they are worth cos they've not really set the world on fire yet. Do you see what i'm trying to say??
  15. as frustrating as it is to pick up the papers or check the web to find everton have not yet signed anyone, whilst everybody else seems to be signing player after player, i am with ruffrob on this one. Moyes knows what he wants and for how much. i fully expect moyes to strengthen with 3/4 players before the season. I am a bit guilty of 'why don't we sign anyone' mentality, but with hindsight i'd rather have decent players for affordable prices than over rated tossers in the ranks
  16. i might pop into the nest bookies i see and have a cheeky tenner on us for the uefa cup. why not eh? (i clearly have more money than sense..........which sadly isn't a lot of either)
  17. maybe been given an extra year to see if he can push on from last years progress (which there must have been behind closed doors) obviously not a world beater otherwise he'd be given a longer contract, but we'll give the guy a chance and hope he's not another claus thomsen
  18. terry phelan.......never rated him, thought he was garbage
  19. This rumour has been around that long that we're now likening players to cars.............luv it!!!!
  20. agree. don't much like his antics in that game, but credit where credit is due for his playing abilities. I'm sure the ginger ninja would sort out his attitude if he did ever join us Like you said tho, we aint go a chance in hell of signing him!!
  21. Agree with Licker's sentiment that if your good enough your old enough. In DM defence none of the players released in the last few years have gone on to anything else at any level (but i could be wrong) I like the idea of building for the future (buying teenagers) rather than buying old, shite. Billy Sharp has done exceptionally well (scoring record) but he's never got into the U21's so maybe he's not the player his record suggests, whereas Nugent has a poorer scoring record but worth shite loads. Though i suppose most of this is about press attention. Preston pushing for promotion to premiership, scunthorpe in league 1. Maybe DM has something up his sleave............time will tell
  22. IMO this guys is class. he would be a fantastic signing. i'm surprised ferguson wants rid cos i reckon he's way better than evra. However, being an argentinian international would increase his wage demands, plus there is no way he'd choose us over real madrid or liverpool. We can but hope tho!! Just my opinion tho!!
  23. excellent news. Our 2 best players committing their futures. 'quiet......everton way' that encourages me for transfers plus i doubt they would committ long term if they did not receive some form of assurance that the squad will be imrpoved. Positive news all round
  24. no contest. Coppell has done well, but i reckon they'll be shite next year. DM is the winner...........hands down..........competition give up and go home............you don't stand a chance!!!
  25. i hope for UEFA cup again. Champions league is beyond us i think. we know what happened last time we were there anyway!! We need to consistently finish in a UEFA place over the next 5 years before making the step up. the more consistent we are year in year out then the better players will want to join us, and then the board will have no option but to provide the funds to help to keep us where we are. (and belong)
