  2. Have you ever considered that just maybe Moyes feels that the lad has learnt something from all the extra football he has had in the past 18 months and maybe he feels he can trust him a bit more now? A quote from Moyes “He has a lot of maturing to do and make sure he does not lose the ball in the wrong areas of the pitch. “We have to bring him along and hope we get him better over the next year or two. “He is beginning to show more signs than he has shown in the past and he is maturing a bit more. He has not been fazed by it but we are still bedding him down to where we think we can get him playing I think the highlighted part of Moyes quote is the bit you don't seem to be able to grasp. Nobody is worried about Barkley losing the ball when he tries to beat a man on the edge of the opposition area, its when he does it in our area People keep throwing in Osman , Neville , Jags and Naismith , the difference Is that they are all seasoned professionals and they have proved that they can handle the abuse they get from fickle fans, they can just pick themselves up and go again. Would a teenager be able to do that? I have never once claimed that Moyes is perfect , I simply believe he is a much, much better manager than you give him credit for
  3. Ha ha hilarious Are you seriously trying to tell me that because my thought process is more like a man who has been voted 3 times manager of the year than you then I don't have a footballing mind?
  4. I wouldn't like to think it at all, I would like to think that all Evertonians would get behind the team and the manager, however the reality is that there are plenty of fickle fans about and this site certainly has its fair share Some fans who have never even seen the lad play would be expecting him to be a world beater from the off and if he started making mistakes that cost us points they would turn on him in an instant. Its even more prevalent with home grown players , just look at the abuse the likes of Hibbert, Osman, Unsworth , Anichebe and Eberell have had over the years
  5. I really didn't think it was that difficult to understand, but you have clearly missed my point entirely
  6. I don't think he was much worse than Osman in that game and he was definitely better than Piennar against Arsenal Both Osman and Piennar have been shite lately. Happy???????? Either way that is all totally irrelevant to Ross Barkleys development
  7. Just because I trust the manager and think he knows what he is doing doesn't mean Im up his arse The people who are screaming for him to be playing in the first team are the same people who will be on his back as soon as he does anything wrong. If you haven't done already I would suggest that you read Mick Rathbone autobiography to see just what that can do to a young players confidence. It could destroy his career before its even begun

  9. IMO he was shite against Spurs and he started equally poorly against Arsenal but grew into the game and in the end put in a fairly accomplished performance Personally I still have very high hopes for Barkley and I do firmly believe that he is going to be a top player. The problem is all the hype that has surrounded him since he first came onto the scene as a 16 year old. People seem to forget how much football he has missed through injury and that has really hampered his development. You can still see even now that some of his decision making at times is poor. He sometimes looks for the Hollywood ball when a 5 yard pass is a better option, sometimes he wants to hold onto the ball too long, sometimes he wants too much time. IMO these are just rough edges that are attributable to his lack of football and they will improve as he gets more experience. Now this is where all the debate starts , the more impatient fans will jump up and down and stamp their feet saying he should be getting that game time in the first team now Again its only my opinion but I think Moyes has handled him perfectly, he took him out of the spotlight and got him playing as much football as possible for the reserves and U18s last year and he has farmed him out on loan to the Championship this year. Outside of the first team spotlight Barkley has played in just about every Everton game he has been eligible for , this has allowed him to develop and make all of his mistakes without all the pressure that our fickle fans bring Moyes watches him everyday in training , he speaks to him all the time, Barkley himself has said in the press that he believes that he is in good hands The bottom line is that when Moyes feels he is ready then he will play him Seamus Coleman is a good example, when he first burst onto the scene people in here were demanding that he should be in the side when it was obvious he wasn't ready defensively, so Moyes sent him out on loan to the Championship to help develop his game and he pushed him into midfield to get him game time and when Moyes felt that he was ready he played him .Now look at him, and yes that was down to Moyes not the fans as some people in here would have you believe

  14. I can see what your saying but the reason Moyes pulled him out of the firing line last season was to get as many games into him as possible outside of the spotlight of the Premiership and all the expectation that was surrounding him so that he could do all his falling over without it costing us points Likewise this season with his loans to the Championship
  15. No you didn't, he went down clutching his head and then tried to make out he had been caught on the top of the arm

  17. In that scenario I don't mind Moyes sacrificing the League Cup and playing the kids, and much like last time we were in Europe if we qualify from the group early enough again he can play the kids
  18. I agree, the worst player on the pitch that night was Fellaini but the point still stands , if we want to win trophies then we should give ourselves the best possible chance of doing so by fielding our strongest side
  19. He didn't though, he just said he wasn't at the right level yet fitness wise and then went on to heap praise on his ability and adaptability, he even said he was our Gareth Bale
  20. Why? I might be missing something but I don't think anyone has had a go at Mirallas have they?
  21. That may well be the case but they can all still afford to sign players like Van Persie, Suarez, Matta,Carzola and Hazard. Can you imagine how much better Everton would be if we could bring in a couple of players of that ilk? Secondly you cant expect to make 5 or 6 changes and not effect the rhythm of the side, and Im am absolutely certain that we would have been far more likely to win if we played our strongest side, just look where it got Swansea!
  22. I don't think that there is an Evertonian on the planet that doesn't want success and I do think that there are some question marks hanging over Moyes such as our inability to win away against the top 4 teams and the way we seem to choke on the big occasion However it is Moyes who is to thank for getting us to those big occasions in the first place and I think generally speaking he has done a fantastic job. Ok he hasn't won a trophy but look at that a little more closely The Premiership is a non starter, we simply don't have the financial clout to compete The FA Cup has been dominated by the top 4 teams since the 1980's , so again without the finances its an extremely big ask In fact since we last won the Cup in 94/95 Pompey are the only side outside the top 4 that have won it and that was a freak season when all the big sides went out early doors 1988–89 Liverpool †3–2 * Everton 1989–90 Manchester United 1–0 Crystal Palace 1990–91 Tottenham Hotspur †2–1 * Nottingham Forest 1991–92 Liverpool 2–0 Sunderland 1992–93 Arsenal †2–1 * Sheffield Wednesday 1993–94 Manchester United 4–0 Chelsea 1994–95 Everton 1–0 Manchester United 1995–96 Manchester United 1–0 Liverpool 1996–97 Chelsea 2–0 Middlesbrough 1997–98 Arsenal 2–0 Newcastle United 1998–99 Manchester United 2–0 Newcastle United 1999–2000 Chelsea 1–0 Aston Villa 2000–01 Liverpool 2–1 Arsenal 2001–02 Arsenal 2–0 Chelsea 2002–03 Arsenal 1–0 Southampton 2003–04 Manchester United 3–0 Millwall 2004–05 Arsenal †0–0 Manchester United 2005–06 Liverpool †3–3 West Ham United 2006–07 Chelsea †1–0 * Manchester United 2007–08 Portsmouth 1–0 Cardiff City 2008–09 Chelsea 2–1 Everton 2009–10 Chelsea 1–0 Portsmouth 2010–11 Manchester City 1–0 Stoke City 2011–12 Chelsea 2–1 Liverpool The League Cup, and this is my bug bear, we never take it seriously, we play the kids and fringe players ala Leeds Utd this season. Most of the people moaning about Moyes also want the kids to lay in the Cup games so they cant really complain there So yes we all want success but I just think some fans need to have a bit of realism. What more can Moyes do without backing band for that matter what more can any manager do We have hit the proverbial glass cealing and the way I see it if a new manager comes what do you expect him to achieve? There isn't really much room for improvement without the money and so if your lucky a new manager may just maintain our status as Europen challengers but there is also every chance that he wont be able to reach the standards Moyes has So , and I know a lot of you hate this phrase, be careful what you wish for
