  1. Has been played in the false 9 role supposedly. We’ll sign strikers no doubt so it’s nice to have other options too.
  2. Think this lad needs a thread now… I like how this transfer ‘came out of the blue’ - much like our other business this summer (bar Tarkowski and Gueye). I’d imagine this paves the way for Dele to Besiktas.
  3. Wow, kudos to the team if we pull this one off!
  4. Perfect short-term Casemiro replacement in my opinion Only £20m too (or is that pushing it?)
  5. I’m actually feeling quite positive about Thelwell/Lampard and just hope we’re not being strung along again. You can’t blame people for feeling a little pessimistic - the failed Giroud deal springs to mind and more recently, chasing Zouma all summer to end up short at centre back when Chelsea decided to keep him. I think 3 points tomorrow will calm a lot of the fan base down for a few days.
  6. This is a classic Sky Sports manipulation of figures to cause outrage of Forest spending so much - it’s £25m plus add-ons to £42m. Much like when we signed Richarlison for £50m - we didn’t - he cost £35m with add-ons… you don’t hear them reporting Darwin Nunez as £110m!
  7. Anything below £15m and you’d get your money back next summer if it didn’t work out. Could be an excellent squad addition (plus another striker) - low risk with potentially high reward if he succeeds. File this under Steven Naismith/Jermaine Beckford/ Marcus Bent - it just makes sense!
  8. Fees are just a headline on any transfer. Sterling has and will cost Chelsea much more than Gordon over the course of the initial contract; Sterling’s wages, signing on fee, agent fees and any other admin fees will be huge - factor in that this could be Sterling’s last ‘big money’ move whereas there’s potential resale value on Gordon, barring injury, regardless of how he performs. I think we could get more than £50m personally and, as much as I would love Gordon to become a legend here, it’d be bonkers to turn down.
  9. A lot of Sarr talk now… sadly to potentially replace Gordon rather than Gray.
  10. We should already have a player like Maupay in our squad - he’d be a very reliable back-up option. Our investment in ‘out and out strikers’ has been so poorly managed maybe since the Niasse signing but certainly on the back of the Lukaku sale. I get we’ve been developing Calvert-Lewin but Rooney, Sandro, Tosun, Kean and Rondon shows how depressingly poor that recruitment has been - Maupay (or Che Adams) may not be the striker we all dream about but at least he’d be a reliable back-up/squad option. I’ll also add - Maupay/Adams is just one profile of striker we need - we need a target man too with similar qualities to Calvert-Lewin.
  11. Not scoring as such - his delivery is very good from corners and free-kicks though and I think that was a big draw when we signed him.
  12. Pretty sure that’s not the only attribute this lad has - if we’re even interested in the first place - we’ll certainly be looking for someone who’s a right-footed set-piece specialist (as well as other qualities) to compliment the McNeil signing (left-footed set-piece specialist).
  13. Not a link to us but a player who I’d like and think will develop into a top class talent so not a ridiculous fee in my opinion.
  14. Strongly linked again (along with many other teams) and Man U seem willing to sell. I don’t know if he’s ready for the step up from the Championship but I think his ability on set-pieces may see him being a high priority for us, similarly to McNeil being identified. Gordon/Gray aren’t consistently threatening enough for me from dead-ball situations so think it will still be an area being looked at.
  15. That’d mean his first game back is at Goodison - we all know how that ends!
  16. Who does David Maddock support? Oh! Deluded fools - Big Dunc got a jail sentence for that!
  17. Maybe Broja on a perm and Gallagher loan with option. Maybe, and more likely, separate deals to the Gordon deal anyway. I’m still expecting Gilmour’s name to pop up somewhere.
  18. This for me… not long ago, I’d have said Gordon is the only player I wouldn’t sell but I’m confident Thelwell and Lampard know what they’re doing and we may have learnt from previous mistakes… seeing Barkley and/or Bashtuayi in any deal would soon kill that confidence!!!
  19. I think both goals yesterday show why we need Gueye (or similar style) in this team.
  20. I expect this will get the Kean deal moving now.
  21. Looked fine with Coady and Tarkowski yesterday
  22. All need a striker to do the bits they can’t. They will all improve with an out and out striker leading the line - even Rondon in the short-term.
  23. Bigger fee but much lower wages than Gueye I’d imagine and fee can be spread over a 5 year contract rather than a 2 so, as mad as it sounds, may leave more money for striking targets depending on the structure of each deal.
