  1. 100% massive step-up but both would have been excellent squad players for us last season - as mentioned, we’re after a squad player rather than the blockbuster main striker. This is the kind of Lookman/Vlasic transfer where, if he’s not a big success, you can still move on for a decent fee in 12-18months. Low risk high reward in my opinion. Jebbison at Sheff Utd is another name being mentioned but he’s had a lot less experience.
  2. 19 last season - what if he goes and scores 19 again this season? Probably puts him out of our price range. These are the risks we need to take.
  3. Basically, the reason we’ve got him and Wolves allowed this is that Coady is a limited player - he’s accomplished in a 3 man defence which is clearly the system we’ll be playing and Wolves won’t - he doesn’t suit a back 4. They’ve probably allowed the loan deal rather than dig their heals in over a permanent deal out of respect.
  4. Gordon’s a childhood kopite… most people who make it as professionals don’t actually support a club as we understand supporting (die hard) a club as it’s their job.
  5. Like it not but Coleman and Mykolenko will be used as a third centre back when required. It wouldn’t surprise me if a youngster (probably Welsh) got game time with Coady and Tarkowski helping them through too.
  6. My thought exactly - possibly West Ham when Diop goes to Fulham too.
  7. I actually really like Arnautovic as a player but age/wages/he’s a big ego but not a star name - Man U fans won’t be happy. He’ll do well there as a short term option though.
  8. I do wonder if West Ham or maybe Leicester come in for Keane during this window; think he’ll certainly be available with 3 at the back seemingly being out system of choice and Keane being so shaky in this system.
  9. You must be shit-hot at speed dating if you can make a judgement that quickly!
  10. Hopefully Mina and Godfrey getting injured doesn’t change our plans of hopefully getting rid of Keane or Mina (probably not now if the injury is serious) if we sign Coady (which is looking very likely). We’ll be playing 3 at the back so it probably means Holgate will be okay with the experience of Coady and Tarkowski - Welsh may even be around the first team until Godfrey is back.
  11. Went with Tarkowski but was very impressed with Iwobi, Patterson, Mina (hope he’s not crocked again - probably is sadly!) and Doucoure (bar the pen). Overall - optimistic!
  12. Over the course of his contract (5 years) - standard practise.
  13. We’d need both. Lampard said Gana and another - most just presumed Billy Gilmour on-loan and not a €40m powerhouse though!
  14. Just read that there’s a new rule where you can’t loan a player domestically in their final 12 months of a contract. Not heard of this - anyone else?
  15. It doesn’t actually say if it’s to us but both strongly linked. I find the response re. Gilmour very interesting - Chelsea fans clearly like him and want to see him given more opportunities.
  16. My IDK says we may or may not be signing Ross or someone else on loan or permanently - he/she is very well misinformed.
  17. He seems a proper div and the fiasco with his exit will be hard to forget but most football fans are fickle (me included) and if he does well, it doesn’t matter who it is as long as Everton are winning. I don’t want him - that’s out of my control but like Romey said, I won’t be booing him - that’s counterproductive.
  18. A left-footed set piece specialist was one of the key focuses this summer - something we’ve been desperate for and in McNeil, I think we’ll see a lot more quality from deadball situations.
  19. Burton’s just up the road for me so will be getting to a few games next season
  20. A lot of talk that we want both (McNeill and Cornet) anyway.
  21. The 2 Burnley fans I know (which accounts for about 50% of their fan base) didn’t understand why we were chasing injury-prone Cornet and thought McNeill would be a much safer bet long-term. I must say - ignoring the obvious goals/assist stats, McNeill is my preference too. I think he’ll flourish here and just seems the ‘right fit’ to take us forward. Feels like a Moyes type signing which, in my opinion, is not a bad thing for a few windows until we’re looking like a rope half side again.
