  1. The worrying thing for me, is that until Saha came on, we didn't really look like threatening them ... at all; we had maybe two, three chances in the first half, but none of them on target; Howard was by far the busiest keeper up until half time. I hate to say it, but if Saha get's injured, it could be a very frustrating season again for us.

I think Moyes knows this and it probably frustrates him too. We are a first team winger and striker away from challenging 4th place - it's so frustrating to us all!

  2.

Well first off, they probably wouldn't, as he is probably their most consistent player, but it would be something that I 'personally' think could be a good deal for both, if we were to get cash on top, as they would then have the Center Back pairing of Jags and Lescott, and we would have a steady defender, who is also Fellaini's mate, hence keeping Fellaini at Goodison, and have a few quid to buy another player.

It won't happen, but I'd rather it were that, than a straight cash deal for Arsene. Arsenal are probably the team we have best chance of catching.

  3. He seems to have everything but he doesn't show it enough - he's shown glimpses of pace, power, flair, finish and ariel ability - I bet he would have a quality youtube reel - but the problem is it's only ever been 'glimpses'!!!

He can very easily have a good half or 15 mins but then look a totally different player. A lot of this is his attitude in the way that he's not very resiliant and if it's not going his way whether it's the crowd getting on his back, fitness worries, team playing shite or he's not getting any calls - he seems to take this to heart and rather than spurring him on as it does with Cahill/ Neville characters - he seems to take it to heart and his performance is affected.

If he can get his head sorted then there's no doubt there's potential - not sure how much but I'm sure we'll see a lot of him next season (injury permitting!!!)

  4. I personally don't this happening but there could be mutial benefit in the deal...

If Johnson is unlikely to get much game time next season then he's going to want to go out on-loan/perm with 2012 Euro's next summer. He can't directly affect Man.City at us as he would be inelegible against his parent club. He would though strengthen us against City's rivals, who we had a very decent record against last season. We are not a direct competitor with City we are way behind them with squad/assets - (refer to striking options!!!). This deal could help with relations between the clubs, it could give us the left winger we're crying out for, it could keep one of city's numerous stars settled in an important season, it could help EFC take points off City's rivals, etc...

Basically if Johnson comes to us City will win the league!!! Done deal! 67.gif

  5. Noticed this - made me chuckle with what comments it may get with the current unrest amongst some...

Upon completion of the deal, Kenwright said: "Acquiring Peter Johnson's shares is only the first step to restoring a great club to where it belongs - to where it should be. If you are going to run a successful football club you need two qualities: you need to be realistic and you need a plan. I'm realistic and I have a plan."

  6. if we dont sign him we are a joke he is twice the player downing is at half the price!!!

He's more of a Young than a Downing - N'Zogbia runs at and takes on players and often tries to go himself, not always a lot of end product. Downing is more of a supply from out wide at the first opportunity, he creates more chances for others but less for himself. Liverpool needed a Downing with Carroll in their team, we need a N'Zogbia with no such force up front and the distinct lack of pace in attack. I would actually say Villa need more of a supplier with Bent up top e.g. replace Downing rather than Young.

I would love us to sign N'Zogbia but I don't actually think Villa are going to be improved losing Young/Downing and signing N'Zogbia with McCleish already stating he'll only be making 1 more major signing (probably along with Hutton too).

  7. Loan deal even would be great.....

We've been linked with him in the past - but he chose Barca  - Champions League Finals or chase for 7th in Prem (he made the wrong choice!!!)

I'd like us to try if he became available but I rate our chances as very slim!!! (unless Johnny puts a word in and slags off VDV while he's at it!)

  8. Looks good as an investment... buy to sell at a higher price later. Best case scenario is that he reaches the potential he was thought to have, and he works in the team, or we make make money on him through a sell. Honestly, all you hear about is how much money Everton doesn't have.

If we had wanted to make money on him we'd have snapped him up on a free when he left Reading - decent Championship striker... he's not Prem class - FACT!!! ;)
