  1. lol, welcome to the board I agree with what you're saying. I think he would add more of what we want and need than Bentley.
  2. Probably not the most original thread to have been started and it is probably up elsewhere but I didn't see it in this forum so here goes. So I was wondering what everybody thinks of the transfer window? Do you think it is good, do you think it is bad, or just somewhere in-between? What improvements could be made or should it be left alone? Should it be disbanded altogether? Personally, I am a fan of it and, though it gives us much stress, it does mean that the better managers are weeded out since they all need to work with what they have at the beginning of the season no matter what.
  3. Hmmm, I hate to not read what everyone else has said so I'm stepping on anyone toes or repeating what has been said then apologies are at hand . . . Basically, as long as we can re-call in January when our strike-force becomes depleted by two then why not, he could do with playing time. However, if Moyes is just being gentle with him so that he doesn't immediately get injured again then I hope he stays since I still think he has a big, big future with Everton.
  4. If they get de Guzman then watch this place closely. He wants to go to Valencia so I'm not sure this is entirely over. I have said this already but thought I would reiterate to counter the thought that it's not on
  5. It is surely a given that every fan waits for the players to come through and prove their worth but any football fan worth their salt can recognise that we are buying, and attempting to buy, much better players than even in previous Moyes' years. I still think we need another CB and a holding player (Banega could be the latter) even if the Heitinga deal goes through. For me he would be the first choice RB with Hibbo as back-up then in midfield we could have: New holding (possibly Banega) Neville Rodwell Fellaini ... and hopefully Arteta ... all as possibilities. Then there is also Osman and Cahill who could play there but they are obviously best suited in behind one striker. With Europa this year and the African Cup of Nations I really think we need a squad which is potentially this big - Heitinga, Banega and two other players included; a CB and another winger to cover the left. Also for consideration a pure LB to cover Baines!
  6. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5525397,00.html <---- this link? Only SS mention the fee in that article.
  7. This makes me very happy Also, according to Goal.com Lescott made some mistakes in possession for his new team today and it read quite familiar so hopefully Distin will be an improvement on that.
  8. Well he wore 7 today so I guess that is settled

    Wigan (Home)

Good to finally get a win. Performances are mostly irrelevant, probably not even worth talking about but hey, this is the wonder of the internet
  10. With Pienaar off in January for a month I wonder if he would be a good player to compete with Arteta for the right-sided position, better than Osman for it probably but then . . . what about Gosling? I would much prefer to see Pienaar and Gosling competing for that role and then either Arteta, Gosling or Osman be the mainstays over on the right. Of course, I am desperate to see Arteta in the middle so am hoping that Moyes doesn't find a reason for him to be shunted out there either way. Over all I think only if it is a low fee and his wage demands are not too ridiculous as, to be honest, I'm not sure he is good enough all round to be one of the best paid players at the club.
  11. LOL Any way. I heard on the radio that he played well today, even with little to do?
  12. Kind of getting bored of the 'Yak is lazy' comments but that is another issue. Any way! The two together, for sure. IMO Cahill delivers goals from deep, hard work and usually a few fouls. As much as I love Timmy I don't think his technical levels are high enough to displace the likes of Arteta and, in a couple years, Fellaini who both suit the central role along with a holding player - especially know that we have two proper wingers in Bily and Pienaar! But after all of that drivel, if I had to pick between the two it would have to be Yak. I just think he is a more natural goal-scorer.
  13. Totally agree. It would be so cool to see raw talent like him, Bily, Pienaar and Arteta all in an Everton starting eleven. Of course, the rest of the team is also very, very talented but these players in particular are just the type I'd never thought I would see play for us.
  14. Not sure how long this'll last for, what with the other thread but all I can say is . . .
  15. Oh. My. God. Can't believe we've agreed a fee, if it is true. Hope it's true!
  16. Yeah, I agree patto. Also, a trip back to reality for people who want Luisao right now . . . Benfica are likely to hold out for money we simply don't have, especially when you consider it is the very end of the transfer window. Maybe in a year after Bill and Davey have been scraping the pennies together and we'll put in a bid for him.
  17. The thing about Lescott at fullback was that it happened at a time when Ashley Cole was off form and Baines was still getting over his injury plus Wayne Bridge wasn't playing a lot of football. I can't see him playing for England there again unless that very, very rare situation crops up. Any way, onto the issue at hand . . . I agree with Jamie, Heitinga is a top CB who has yet to prove himself outside of Holland. I doubt Atletico will let go of him unless it is for silly money and Everton simply do not have silly money to spend.
  18. Hmmm yeah, I wonder if as well as Baines' injury that Moyes also allowed him a bedding-in period. A lot of players do need that. Either way I don't see Lescott as being nearly as good as Ashley Cole and the like.
  19. . . . feeling slightly resentful are we?

    Sigma (Away)

Sadly I don't think Moyes is friendly to the concept of attacking fullbacks so I don't think so. You never know, though, there is always hope!
  21. Bill, we have missed Carsley, I agree. But we have still achieved relative success without him here. I think, though, that this could be the year when we need someone exactly in his mould, since it could be the year of Arteta playing centrally . . . yes, I am the champion of that particular cause Louis, I take it you give no hope to the possibility of Distin having an 'Indian Summer' then? Good point made by Churinga. Signing two captain's must have some benefits for a team which lacks a strong presence of leadership surely?
  22. He's 25, apparently. I was off by a year, at least so says wikipedia.
  23. I've not even heard of this player. If we get him I hope he is a diamond in the rough, or some other cliché
  24. Spot on, DM. The fact is that Joan Laporta and Rummenigge are big, big backers of these plans even before Platini was so that tells you everything about the immediate effect that these plans will have; preserving Europe's elite is inevitable when these plans will be enforced but then there is a growing group of supporters of how Bayern are managed so maybe this is good for football in the long run - the very long run, I mean
