I'm not defending him to be honest. Before the West Ham game I thought it was probably time for him to go. But there are times in football when you get shafted and it isn't the managers fault. Evertonians are obsessed with blaming the manager. Sometimes it's OTT. We got done by an abysmal VAR decision and conceded on the break trying to win the game. Yes our away form is dreadful and Silva might not be the right man for the job but I don't see this as a result that can be put on him.

Really, really good performance. We still lack that cutting edge that would have seen us demolish West Ham but no complaints about application or quality everywhere else on the pitch. Gomes makes a massive difference for us, ran the midfield today, Davies was good alongside him, Walcott and Iwobi played really well too.

I'm not a fan of him at all but I think he's played pretty well. Movement from the front four has been excellent, passing has been good too until the final third when some of the decision making has been poor.

Or, we've got two ball players in midfield who are prepared to look for a forward pass...

I know you'll never agree with me but we really haven't got the sixth best squad in the league. We're paper thin in key positions regardless of some of the big bucks we've thrown around, we've signed a lot of mediocre shite. The fact that Schneiderlin plays as soon as we have injuries in midfield - weak. The fact that Tosun is our back up striker - weak. The fact that Keane and Mina are our fist choice CBs with only Holgate in reserve - fml! We're not a strong side/squad in all respects of the word. And yeah, I agree with you now, the manager isn't good enough either. I just wanted to see if he could kick on from a good run last season.

Sigurdsson isn't being played as a striker though. And if he is the tactics are even more miserable than we thought. Back on topic, I find the idea that Tosun could be the answer very, very depressing. He was a dreadful signing.
