  1. and the HAT TRICK! half an hour! GET HIM OFF now please!
  2. Got an early goal in the Olympics, fluffed a one on one to gets his second not long after. Worryingly was down with an injury for a few minutes, seems to be running it off. Really hope he doesn't come back injured. If he stays on I expect he'll score more, Germans look there for a beating. Make that 2 goals already for him!
  3. He seems like a happy, joker of a guy who is generally laughing and smiling, unlike say Richarlison. the fact he has a smile on his face at training or on the beach doesn’t really say anything to me about his desire to play for Everton. Kean on the other hand doesn’t look too happy but maybe he also carries Richarlison’s resting bitch face!
  4. "Godfrey considered too young" I highly doubt anyone who watched him last season would be considering him too young! If he's not a big fan of Mina and moves him on to bring someone in then fine but Godfrey has got be first choice. Keane is the man to make way if anyone.
  5. he won an award for that celebration too! Only in South America would they dish out awards for Goal celebration! Hadn't even realised James hadn't been picked in the squad, even more guiling after he buggared off early prioritising Columbia!
  6. Have you seen the Brazilian line up in Copa America? They’re playing 3 strikers with Neymar in front of them! Talk about too heavy!
  7. yeah, love listening to him talk about the team and his passion for the club. But also hugely impressed by the way he approaches games and the level of detail he went into as a player. Could see him being really thorough as a manager and also a good positive people manager. Certainly wouldn't stand for anyone that wasn't willing to give it their all! Love his love of Hibbo!
  8. not one for now but speaking of managers who "get the fans", I was listening to Cahill on the Caragher podcast, the way he talks about the game, the way he researches and his love for Everton I can easily see Cahill becoming a very good manager and an Everton manager at some point in the future. As he himself says when asked about the potential of working with his mate Arteta, he has to earn his place before he can step up to a big job but if he did a good job early in his managerial career I'm sure he'd be welcomed and would love to come back and manage Everton.
  9. looks like wisdom of TT is pretty much going with stick a load of names in a hat and see who we pull it based on that spread! I can't bring myself to think too much about it, I just hope that we get someone in the next couple of weeks and that someone can come in and stamp his mark on the team. What I don't want is a manager that wants to bring in lots of big name established stars that are a bit older which seemed to be where Carlo was generally heading. Brands needs to ensure that we have a plan from youth upwards to try to play a particular brand of football to a certain degree and push the first team i that direction through both the players we sign and a manager that works with it. I want to see more investment in 25 and unders which we saw a few seasons ago when we brought in Richarlison, Digne and Mina in 2018. Iwobi and Kean went with that from Carlo/Brands but obviously haven't payed off so well. We need to sell the lure of success and Europe over the next couple of years to young hungry players who want it, not big expensive contracts to name players who want to be in Champions league already and lose interest when we're 1 down at Sheffield United or the like.
  10. Really pleased that he's got the recognition. Jus hope we don't end up losing him. Stones a few years back was a hot proposition and no where near as good defensively as Godfrey and we didn't manage to hang on to him. Godfrey has arguably been our best player this season and one of the most important. Not only has he been outstanding quality wise but he has a great character on the field, always putting in a real effort and works hard wherever he's positioned. One of the big issues in our team, particularly towards the back end of the season was a lack of fight and character in the team and he's got just that.
  11. think he had the longest substitute introduction I've ever seen. The Assistant was making a comment half way through, probably "you'd better get a goal after this big intro" He replied "don't worry Everton got the message at half time, and will ensure they roll the ball to me if I get close and back away when I enter the box"
  12. For me James is more of a 10, needs to be on the ball and involved, able to get into the box but getting plenty of action around the middle of the park so that he can pick out passes. I think Niels needs either a loan move to get more match time and chance to progress or get put on the bench on a weekly basis, if the latter we can avoid having to get another left back. Right back is top priority. Centre backs wouldn't be a priority for me as while there have been errors amongst them and injury problems they are plenty capable and if we can't find the perfect replacement I'd stick with the 4 that we have. At least 1 winger with pace and ability. don't know how Gordon did on loan though a quick look would suggest he wasn't taking the league by storm. We need a creative central player that will cover James' regular injuries. Not a half arsed backup or someone moving position but a quality player that would compete with him if they were both fit. Another striker would be useful as well. Budget wise I'd prioritise: Right back, Winger, attacking centre mid, striker, centre back in that order
  13. I actually thought Iwobi looked quite involved getting a chance in the middle though stats don't suggest he did very much! Can only be Pickford really. Godfrey had a tough time defending against Sterling but put in some good challenges and cleared plenty up.
  14. Wow, San Marino, Andorra and Faroe Islands actually get 2 entrants to this tournament! Luxembourg, Iceland, Malta and even Gibraltar have 3! Since the turn of the century the same team has won the Gibraltar league 17 times out of 19 and they only have 12 teams in the league! Really I don't see why some of these countries need so many teams playing in Europe when they are in tiny part time leagues. 3 teams each for Northern Ireland, Wales and Republic Ireland so good chance of a short trip there! -- Anyway, we're probably not going to get in! Threw too many points away but, plenty of games that we should have won but the recent Sheffield United one is one of the most frustrating given how close to the end of the season it was with Sheffield united down and us still in with a good chance of a spot. As expected we won in front of the fans, I think we can give City a good match, we've performed well in most of the games against the top sides but while I think City will rest players ahead of the Champions League final, they don't have a weak team they can put out and they will have fans and a trophy to lift so i'm sure want to finish on a high. It's the hope that kills you! Everton have given that tiny bit of hope of a top 7 finish. The annoying thing is if we don't get something from City we likely drop to 9th or 10 which feels like a kick in the teeth considering we spent most of the season 8th or above.
  15. Great column that, agree with everything he's said. The faults as he points out fall on both Carlo's tactics going into games and the players. We may not have the players that Carlo wants to play the football he wants but we must surely be able to adapt better to prove a greater threat against teams like Sheffield United. Bottlers indeed, they've shown time and time again how up for it they are against the "big boys" putting in good hard working performances to get the unexpected result, but when we are expected to win and the challenge is to break a team down and create chances they don't seem to be up to doing it, or up to the fight of just outplaying the opposition. I'm not sure about the coaching aspect but certainly could be something to be addressed in there.
  16. I can only hope that with a crowd in for the first time in a long time, the team turn up and give it their all to put in a good performance. I think we had 2 home games with crowds this season and we beat Chelsea and Arsenal in them! If that's anything to go on then I should be fully confident that we can win! I'm confidently saying that we will win 3-1.
  17. We'll be lucky to finish above Leeds in 10th at the moment! God knows how we've managed to be in a position where Arsenal look likely to finish above us after the season they've had.
  18. I thought first half we played some nice attacking play with DCL involved 8n some good hold up and link up play. Richarlison and Digne also very involved but second half we struggled to get forward at all. Good from the defence and good commitment all round. I've gone Pickford, great to see him back to his best and showing confidence around his box without the over arrogance or mistakes of old. Hopefully see more in the coming games of the attack play that we threatened with in the first half.
  19. Any chance of King getting a start? doubt it. Pickford Holgate Keane Godfrey Digne Allan Gomes Rodriguez Sigurdson Iwobi Richarlison other option would be Pickford Holgate Keane Godfrey Coleman Digne Allan Gomes Rodriguez Sigurdson Richarlison With Richarlison having freedom to go more central There's not really many other options!
  20. Godfrey, saved us a few times with last ditches blocks/challenges. not a lot else to get excited about
  21. exactly, the commentator pointed it out when they brought on Mount or Pulisic. Tuchel has rotated his side plenty since coming in and he has another player of similar quality in each position, we have at least 7 or 8 of the same players every game and we are very much a different team if we are short 1 or 2 key players, plus if one of your players isn't having a great game there's no replacement and if you want to do something different there's very little in the way of options. Bernard really isn't favoured by Carlo but he's been forced into giving him game time and Davies while looking much better is not going to make a huge difference to anything. Carlo knows he's lacking the quality also to match up to top teams, this is disappointing but he's managed to get plenty of points playing in a way that has worked against them. Chelsea looked very good, pressing high and fast, quick breaks and never gave us any time to settle. They don't look fully drilled yet and i'm sure he'll want to change a few players but I can see them competing for the title if they continue to progress from how they played last night next season. We do definitely need a new right back, I'd rather have Coleman playing to be honest for what he brings going forward and I'd be disappointed if he didn't play against Burnley in a match where we need the wing back more. Holgate can do the job at the back and while comfortable on the ball he's not a full back. He had one chance where he got forward and put a cross that went way past everyone, if that was Digne or even Coleman it would have hit the 6 yard box.
  22. Looks the most likely line up though to be pedantic Richarlison would be on the left and DCL on the right!
  23. good attacking line up, shame no Rodriguez. Mad bench, 3 players who have got any kind of experience and 2 keepers both of whom have never played a competitive match for us!
  24. This exactly what I had in my head except for I'd rest Allan for Davies. Think he might if Davies is fit just not to over do it with Allan straight away. This side gives us plenty of attack with wingers plus James having that freedom to make something happen from the middle. on the Royal Blue podcst they were suggesting maybe it would be a good time to give King his first start I wouldn't mind this but as I have DCL triple captained in FPL I'd rather he wasn't rested! Richarlison being rested from getting kicked by West Brom might not be the worst though, Kings a strong powerful player that could deal with Sam's setup.
